The Ace Bigshot Becomes A Farmgirl

Chapter 1909: Chapter 1909: The Days of Returning Home

Before Shu Yu could finish her sentence, the old lady interrupted, ”Oh, mind your own business, we don’t need you to take care of us. We came here on our own, do you think we’ll become delicate on the way back? Besides, your father and Third Uncle are both here. What’s a youngster like you worrying about? Running the shop is more important.”

Shu Yu chuckled, ”You all are more important.”

Her words made the old lady’s heart feel warm and delighted. She took Shu Yu’s hand and said, ”You just focus on your own things. You’re still young, yet you worry about everything. We’ve lived more than half our lives, though we haven’t traveled as much as you, or seen as much, but there are many of us, we’re eloquent, and we’ve got money. What is there to fear?”

”Yes, my grandmother is the best.”

”Stop flattering me.” The old lady tapped her forehead, ”You came back at just the right time. I have something to discuss with you. Yesterday, your Aunt and I talked it over, and we’re thinking of going home in half a month.”

Shu Yu was taken aback, ”In such a hurry?” Her grandmother had only been here for a few days.

”It’s not that urgent. We want to return to Dongan Province before the Qingming Festival. Your Aunt misses your great-grandfather and great-grandmother.” Plus, Granny Fang’s old ailment that Shu Yu mentioned made her want to go back early to have Zhao Xi take a look.

It would take them a while to travel, and by then, the older ones, especially the second and third uncles, would likely take it slow on the road because of their age.

That made sense, but Shu Yu was just worried about the old lady getting tired from the travel.

The old lady said, ”At first, we were wondering what to do about Ah Rui and the others, whether they should return with us. But they’re out here traveling. If they rush back with us, it wouldn’t be much of a journey for them. Now that you’re opening a shop, I think they shouldn’t hurry back.”

”I’ll take care of them.”

”You don’t need to worry much. On this trip, I’ve seen clearly that they’re very sensible outside and won’t cause trouble. Only Dabao is a bit rowdy, but he’s actually just a paper tiger, only acting tough at home, and being timid outside. As long as Ah Rui speaks, he’ll listen. Let Ying Dong accompany them around Changjin Prefecture. They’ve all grown up, and if you need their help, just ask them to do something. Siblings should support each other.”

”Alright.” Shu Yu agreed, ”I’ve already written to Brother Daniu, and he’s responsible for transporting the goods to Changjin Prefecture. Later Ah Rui and the others can go back with Brother Daniu, taking their time on the road. Actually, not only Ah Rui and the others, Brother Daniu hasn’t been on such a long trip either, and he can take this chance to see and experience more.”

”That’s good, your Brother Daniu can manage the workshop, but he’s probably still a bit anxious when traveling outside. Let him learn more, he shouldn’t hold you back.”

The grandmother and granddaughter settled on the departure date, and only then did Shu Yu ask about the Chen Family’s matters, ”Have they returned Aunt’s money yet?”

”Not yet. Your Third Uncle has been loitering around the Chen Family’s neighborhood these past two days. Didn’t you say that Chen Bing directly left that house and shop to the authorities? Your Third Uncle has been keeping an eye on it, whether it’s the house or the shop that’s been put up for sale. Because it’s a rush sale, the price doesn’t seem very high.”

Shu Yu had some understanding of the Chen Family’s property prices. ”I heard from Aunt that when Chen Bing bought the house, it was around three hundred taels.”
