The Ace Bigshot Becomes A Farmgirl

Chapter 1921: Chapter 1921: Choosing Jiang Fengshou

Third Lu opened his mouth, then snorted coldly after a moment, ”Have you already decided on him? Your words seem to be speaking for him. Let me tell you, Yu, this person is not stable; choosing him will be a disadvantage for you.”

”Third Uncle, don’t you also meet people with a seven-point smile, giving gifts to Boss Ji, and being very astute? Why did Boss Ji choose you to be the steward back then? According to your logic, he shouldn’t have chosen you.”

”...” Damn, what’s wrong with him?

Third Lu said, ”I suddenly think Jiang Fengshou is indeed good. Look, he’s different from other shopkeepers; he seems clever at first glance. He can timely avoid danger, has patience, and speaks straightforwardly. Even if you aren’t in Changjin Prefecture someday, he could surely elevate the shop further. Right?”

Shu Yu nearly burst out laughing; her Third Uncle really has a knack for lying with his eyes wide open.

In the following time, Shu Yu interviewed several other shopkeepers, most of whom were quite standard.

By evening, those who were supposed to come had come. Shu Yu tidied up her things and returned to the inn.

She had a few lists on hand, including Jiang Fengshou, as well as others she thought worth observing further. She arranged for them to come for a second interview two days later.

She didn’t choose the shop on Fuyuan Street for the second interview; after all, there were only five people. Shu Yu instructed the staff at the inn to guide them directly to the backyard when they arrived.

Two days later, just as Shu Yu finished freshening up, the inn’s staff ran over to say, ”There’s a guest named Jiang Fengshou outside, who came as soon as the doors opened and has been waiting in the hall. Would the county magistrate like to let him in?”

Shu Yu was surprised. Came so early?

”Let him in.”

”Yes.”

Jiang Fengshou came in, still smiling, holding a small paper package.

He walked up to Shu Yu, greeted her, and then placed the paper package on the table, saying, ”County magistrate, I’m here early and surely disturbed your breakfast. But on my way here, I bought some pastries from a long-established shop in Changjin Prefecture; they’re especially fragrant. Would you like to try them?”

Shu Yu glanced at the pastries, still steaming, ”You just ran to buy them?”

Jiang Fengshou just smiled.

Shu Yu was unfamiliar with the tasty spots in Changjin Prefecture; the pastries indeed smelled wonderful, the aroma wafting through the air.

”Wait here for a while.” She took the pastries into the inner room, and Ying Xi happened to be bringing breakfast over. The two quietly started eating.

Witnessing this, Jiang Fengshou outside clenched his fist excitedly and then tried hard to restrain himself.

After Shu Yu finished eating, the other candidates arrived as well.

During the second interview, Shu Yu asked more in-depth questions. Not discussing others for now, Shu Yu was satisfied with Jiang Fengshou’s answers.

She nodded and finally asked Ying Xi to give all the others a meeting gift and send them out of the inn, except for Jiang Fengshou, who was left behind.

”You’ve been hired; from now on, you’re the shopkeeper of Lu’s Shop. Congratulations.”

Jiang Fengshou’s expression turned excited, ”Thank you, county magistrate. I’ll definitely do my best.”

”I believe that, but before that, there are some rules I need to clarify first.”

”Please go ahead, county magistrate.” Jiang Fengshou’s expression became more serious.

”First, besides you as the shopkeeper, there are two other staff members in the shop. I know some shopkeepers oppress their staff intensively. They don’t focus on improving product sales and instead put their energy into internal conflict. This is a severe taboo here.”
