The Ace Bigshot Becomes A Farmgirl

Chapter 1906: Chapter 1906: Opening a Branch Store Here

Qi Lie also thought about persuading Shu Yu to stay longer in Changjin Prefecture, but he quickly learned about the existence of Granny Fang and knew that Shu Yu was eager to return partly to reunite Granny Fang with the old lady Lu family.

He had no reason to obstruct them. The two sisters had been separated for over thirty years, longing for each other every day. How could he let Shu Yu, this hero, feel disheartened?

Who would have thought that things would take a turn, and the old lady along with the Lu family’s brothers would all come.

Granny Fang was not in a hurry to return, and even if she went back, with the old lady and the Lu family’s brothers, along with some skilled escorts, Lu Shuyu could rest assured, right?

Since she wasn’t leaving, Meng Yunzheng naturally didn’t have to leave either.

”The situation in the capital has gradually stabilized, but the Emperor is particularly concerned about the rebuilding of Changjin Prefecture, and the choice of a magistrate has been difficult to find the right person. Now that Qi Lie, who is trusted by the Emperor, is here, along with General Huang maintaining order, there’s also...”

Shu Yu interjected, ”And you?”

”Yes.” Meng Yunzheng gave a bitter smile, ”So the Emperor isn’t in a hurry anymore and ordered Qi Lie to stabilize Changjin Prefecture before recalling him back to the capital.”

The chaos in the capital was far worse than here, with many officials having fallen and been executed. In many important positions, the Emperor had placed his trusted confidants.

This back and forth led to a lack of suitable candidates who were trusted by the Emperor and competent enough to manage Changjin Prefecture.

In other words, Qi Lie would stay here for at least two more months.

Two months isn’t long, but Qi Lie had plenty of matters to handle, and at this critical moment, Meng Yunzheng surprisingly wanted to drop everything.

So he pondered over it, thinking to find something for Shu Yu to do in Changjin Prefecture and turned his idea towards the storefronts.

Shu Yu, ”...” How to say it? It was indeed beneficial for her, but Meng Yunzheng was too exhausted.

”Not exhausted, the most tiring period is over, working here at the government office is beneficial for me. I’m going to take the township exam this year, and it’s a way to accumulate experience.”

Since it was beneficial for both parties, Meng Yunzheng didn’t stop.

”However, if you don’t want to open it, you don’t have to force yourself.”

”Open it, why not?” Shu Yu was full of energy, ”Lord Qi is right. I intended to expand my business. This is your hometown, you’re familiar with it, and I’ve lived here for a while; it’s the perfect place to open a branch.”

Moreover, Changjin Prefecture could be said to be in a state of disrepair, and many businesses were failing. The original network of commerce in the city was disordered, making this the easiest time to establish a foothold.

Plus, I just became a county magistrate, and yesterday I sued Chen Bing at the government office, raised my reputation. If I don’t open a branch now, when will I?

”Let’s go, take a look at the shop first.”

Seeing this, Meng Yunzheng couldn’t help but laugh, ”Alright, then let’s open.”

The two of them left the government office and headed straight for the shop on Huakang Street, which was not far away.

Qi Lie had assigned her three shops, all located in bustling areas, ensuring that business would thrive regardless of the location.

The shop on Huakang Street was roughly around two hundred square meters. It might be a bit small for a restaurant, but it was just right for a regular storefront.

However, Shu Yu wanted to sell a wide variety of things and preferred it to be more spacious.

Nevertheless, this shop also had a yard out back, plus it was close to the government office, making it very safe.

After making a round inside, Shu Yu decided to keep it as a preliminary option, ”Let’s go to the second one.”
