The Ace Bigshot Becomes A Farmgirl

Chapter 1913: Chapter 1913: Settling on a Staff Member

While they were talking, Wang Yue heard the commotion and came over.

Shu Yu nodded to her, then took a box from Ying Xi’s hand and placed it on the table beside them.

”This is the compensation from the Chen family for you, totaling seventy taels. I have brought it to you.”

Mother Zhou, her son, and Wang Yue were all stunned. Money?

”So quickly delivered?”

Shu Yu smiled, of course quickly. The Chen family owes her Aunt six hundred taels of silver, and she is the county magistrate, so the people at the Office handled it as quickly as possible.

She said to the Zhou family, ”The Chen family has sold their house and shop, and most of the money is used for compensation. My Aunt and Guo Zheng have already got theirs. The seventy taels for your family were originally held at the county office, waiting for you to pick them up in your spare time. But today I’m here to see you for something, so I brought it along. Here’s the certificate, take a look, sign it with your fingerprint, and I will hand it over to the county office later.”

Zhou Tiedong swallowed, glanced at the certificate, and quickly pressed his fingerprint.

”Thank you, county magistrate.”

”No need, it’s just on the way.”

Zhou Tiedong touched the box, seventy taels, with this money their debt can be paid off. Even if he’s not employed as a staff, life at home won’t be bad.

He smiled and asked Mother Zhou to put the money away, then raised his head to ask, ”The county magistrate mentioned you have something to discuss with me. May I know what it is? Whatever the county magistrate asks, Zhou Tiedong will do without hesitation.”

”It’s not that serious, I just have something to ask your opinion on,” Shu Yu said. ”I plan to open a shop in the prefecture, we’ll start renovations in a few days, and I need to hire a shopkeeper and two staff. I know you have experience. Earlier when I inquired about you, others spoke well of you, so I wanted to ask if you would like to be employed as one of the staff.”

Mother Zhou, her son, and Wang Yue were all dumbfounded. The county magistrate came to hire him as staff?

This isn’t needing Zhou Tiedong’s help, it’s clearly the county magistrate offering him a good job without any reason.

”I’ll go, county magistrate, I have no problem with that,” Zhou Tiedong hurriedly said.

Mother Zhou also nodded repeatedly, ”County magistrate values our Dongzi, it’s Dongzi’s good luck. Rest assured, our Dongzi will definitely work hard and not let down the county magistrate’s kindness.”

”Okay, then take good care of yourself. The shop will open in a while and by then you should be healed. Regarding wages, we’ll follow the prefecture’s rules. There’s accommodation in the backyard of the shop, so lodging won’t be an issue. As for meals, I’ll arrange for an old woman later.”

After a pause, Shu Yu glanced at Wang Yue, ”If you get married and want to rent a house outside with your wife, we will reimburse a part of the rent from our side.”

Saying this made Zhou Tiedong and Wang Yue a bit embarrassed, ”No, no need, we can rent on our own.”

Shu Yu waved her hand, ”That’s settled then, make sure you rest well. I’ll leave you an address, later you can come directly to the shop in the prefecture to find me. If I’m not there, just find whoever is at the shop. By then, I’ll tell you exactly what the shop sells and sign the contract.”

”Okay, once I’m healed, I’ll go to the prefecture right away.”

After speaking, Shu Yu prepared to get up and leave.

Mother Zhou quickly said, ”County magistrate, stay for a meal, I’ll go cook right away.”

”No need, we still have to go to the prefecture.”
