The Ace Bigshot Becomes A Farmgirl

Chapter 1926: Chapter 1926: The Zhou Family Delivers a Wedding Invitation

Now, seeing Jiang Fengshou bringing the newly recruited staff everywhere for leisure, it seemed utterly absurd.

Indeed, they were right in their thinking. What would a young girl like County Lord Lu know about business? It’s probably just that the imperial court happened to reward her with a shop, and she thought of opening it for some fun out of boredom.

Look, once she got the shop, it started renovation immediately, and the shelves inside are also bizarre. To this day, no one knows what exactly this shop sells.

Most likely, County Lord Lu has nothing but money to burn, using this shop just for practice.

No wonder she knows nothing about hiring skills, ending up with a shopkeeper who only knows how to flatter. It’s bound to fail sooner or later.

The crowd sneered at this, and some rumors even reached Shu Yu’s ears.

Shu Yu didn’t mind. She was also busy, asking Jiang Fengshou to write a business plan while pondering herself. She was not familiar with Changjin Prefecture, so she also wandered everywhere, learning about the consumption habits of the locals and the wealthy and visiting successful shops.

Father Zhou came at this time; he actually went to the inn where Shu Yu first stayed to find her, but Shu Yu was no longer staying there.

After the old lady and others left, Shu Yu rented a courtyard near Fuyuan Street. She could have stayed in the backyard of the shop, but since the shop was under renovation, the noise and dust were significant. Not mentioning herself, Shurui and the other two were out during the day and needed a quieter environment to read and write in the evenings.

So she simply rented a courtyard for temporary residence. However, before she left, she left an address with the innkeeper, instructing them to send anyone looking for her to Fuyuan Street.

So when Father Zhou came, he found the inn empty and later managed to locate the small courtyard where Shu Yu lived by some roundabout way.

Seeing him appear, Shu Yu was surprised, ”Did something happen to Zhou Tiedong?”

”No, no.” Father Zhou quickly said, his face beaming with joy. He then took out a box, opened it, took out an invitation, and handed it to Shu Yu, saying, ”This is a wedding invitation. Our Dongzi and Ayue are getting married in two days. I’m wondering if the county magistrate is available.”

In the countryside, there were no such wedding invitations; they just passed by word of mouth, and people would come when the time came.

But wasn’t Shu Yu a county magistrate? In the eyes of the Zhou family, she was someone of status, so it was important to adhere to the formalities. They specifically asked the village’s only Scholar to help write this invitation and brought it in a box, fearing it would be crushed or wrinkled on the way.

Shu Yu was surprised, ”Getting married so soon?”

Father Zhou laughed naively, ”Yes, indeed. Our Dongzi caught the eye of the county magistrate and can work as staff in the prefecture. Now that he’s become staff, he ought to dedicate himself to work, or he’d fail the good intentions of the county magistrate. So we thought of letting Dongzi get married first; we were planning for it this year anyway, and everything was prepared. Once married, a big matter in our hearts would be settled, and we can be at ease.”

Shu Yu smiled, ”Then I’ll congratulate him first, but I might not be able to attend. There are too many things to prepare before the shop opens, and I’m really too busy to spare the time.”

”No matter, no matter. We know the county magistrate is busy; but since the county magistrate is now Dongzi’s boss, it’s essential to inform the county magistrate of this happy news either way.”

The Zhou family also understood the low likelihood of Shu Yu attending; they didn’t have much hope in that regard. However, whether she came or not, their intentions had to be conveyed.
