The Ace Bigshot Becomes A Farmgirl

Chapter 1929: Chapter 1929: Daniu Has Arrived

Shu Yu gave Jiang Fengshou some money as an upfront preparation, telling him to spend it where necessary without hesitation.

Just like the prizes prepared for the opening of Dongan Province back then, if you want to reap, you must first sow.

By February 11, the shop was finally renovated and the work was perfectly completed.

Shu Yu settled Worker He’s wages and shut the shop’s doors, keeping them closed for over ten days.

This left some shops and shopkeepers, who were keeping an eye on the situation, utterly confused. The shop had been refurbished, but they still didn’t know what kind of goods it was going to sell.

So much time had passed, yet the shop remained empty. They simply couldn’t understand what kind of scheme the county magistrate had up her sleeve.

Shu Yu was waiting, waiting for Daniu to transport the goods over.

However, from the time she sent a letter asking the courier station to send it swiftly to Dongan Province, to the time Daniu and his team prepared to transport the goods, the process was inevitably lengthy, requiring her to wait patiently.

On February 23, a convoy finally arrived outside the prefecture of Changjin.

The young man leading the group wiped his sweat, exhaling deeply, and looking at the tall city gate, he said, ”We finally arrived.”

He got off the carriage, walked to the front of another carriage following behind, and asked the people inside, ”Uncle, Aunt, come with me into the city first. We are unfamiliar with this area; we can ask Yu later about going to Chenggu County.”

A middle-aged couple’s faces appeared from the carriage, the man nodded, ”Okay, okay, since we are already here, there is no rush. Daniu, focus on what’s important, let’s enter the city first. We’ll follow your lead.”

”Alright.” With that, Daniu proceeded forward, leading the group to join the line entering the city.

It was already afternoon, and there weren’t many people entering the city, making Daniu’s convoy stand out, especially since it was quite long.

Even the officers guarding the gate scrutinized them curiously. Daniu handed over his household travel permit with a smile, ”Bailiff, we come from Dongan Province, and the carriages behind are all loaded with goods, see for yourself.”

The officer nodded, knowing that inspections for entering and leaving the city were quite strict now, and such a situation would likely continue for at least half a year.

The officer followed Daniu to the carriages, lifting the oilcloth covering the first cart, then the felt cloth underneath, and undoing the oilcloth bags to inspect the contents.

He was immediately puzzled, ”What is this?”

”Bailiff, these are melon seeds, a type of nuts.” Daniu grabbed a handful for him, ”Try it, they have a very fragrant taste.”

The officer sniffed the aroma, indeed quite pleasing, though he had never seen such a thing before.

One couldn’t blame him for being unaware; melon seeds were indeed a novelty, produced only by a workshop in Dongan Province, with limited production. The bulk of the supply was in Dongan Province, the capital, and a small amount reached the southwest in Linzhang Prefecture.

The sales in the capital were managed by the Liao Family’s Passion Fruit Shop. The Liao Family had shops in other prefecture capitals as well, but the production was scarce, not meeting even the demand in the capital, let alone other places.

Moreover, Changjin Prefecture didn’t even have a shop owned by the Liao Family.

So, the number of people who had tasted melon seeds was genuinely few.

For the officer, this was an unknown item, and he had no idea how to consume it. The tumult that occurred in Changjin Prefecture the previous year made him particularly cautious about these unfamiliar things.
