The Ace Bigshot Becomes A Farmgirl

Chapter 1918: Chapter 1918: The Studious and Motivated Third Lu

Lu Sanzhu nodded after listening, ”Makes sense.”

He lowered his head, holding a charcoal pencil and a notebook, and began to take notes, conducting a very thorough analysis of Shu Yu’s words.

Shu Yu glanced over, the corner of her mouth twitching, ”You’re... quite serious, huh.”

”Of course, I promised Boss Ji that I’d write down the experiences I’ve learned when I got back and hand them over to him,” Lu Sanzhu said earnestly. ”What you’ve said has inspired me greatly, yes, must jot this down.”

Shu Yu felt like laughing. Indeed, while their Third Uncle had many flaws, he also had many virtues. At the very least, he didn’t have the domineering tendencies of most men of his time, he loved his wife and children, and sometimes he was quite ambitious too.

”Yu, that shopkeeper from earlier wasn’t good, but haven’t there been a few shopkeepers before who were decent?” Lu Sanzhu put down his pen and humbly sought advice. He realized that sticking around Shu Yu might teach him more than following others. ”I saw a shopkeeper earlier who was very courteous when he greeted your dad and Worker He when he came in, very polite.”

Shu Yu nodded, ”Indeed, there are a few shopkeepers who are quite good, but... they are too stable. If I give them explicit instructions, they would definitely carry them out diligently, but that’s about it. Asking them to explore new markets on their own, they’d likely back down. They’re of the type who neither excel nor make mistakes.”

Lu Sanzhu resisted the urge to roll his eyes, ”Then your standards are a bit too high; the mediocre ones won’t do, the talented but opportunistic ones won’t do, and those who can’t understand you instantly also won’t do. We are all ordinary people, no one is perfect, you’re too demanding.”

Shu Yu sighed, leaning back in her chair and gazing up at the sky, ”I can’t help it, probably due to having seen shopkeepers like Wei Ronghua who are so adept and capable, it’s raised my bar. Plus, this isn’t Dongan Province; if there’s ever a problem in Dongan, I can always go and help solve it. Changjin Prefecture is quite far, which means I need a shopkeeper who’s capable, driven, and reliable.”

Otherwise, if something goes wrong, I wouldn’t be able to get there in time.

”Forget it, I’ll look again tomorrow. If I really can’t find someone suitable, I’ll just stay longer in this prefecture, open the shop and keep searching at the same time.”

Shu Yu set the time for hiring a shopkeeper to two days, hoping to find a suitable candidate by tomorrow.

Lu Sanzhu thought Shu Yu was too picky and figured she probably wouldn’t find anyone.

However, he still came over the next day with his notebook and charcoal pencil, sitting in the backyard with her while they recruited people.

There were noticeably fewer people today, but a few still came throughout the morning, all of whom Shu Yu found unsatisfactory.

Lu Sanzhu felt it was hopeless in his heart, thinking Yu was wasting her effort again today.

However, in the afternoon, a man in his thirties suddenly came.

When he sat in front of Shu Yu, she unconsciously turned to look at Lu Sanzhu.

The latter was confused and met her gaze for a moment before suddenly realizing, leaning in to whisper to Shu Yu, ”Yu, are you asking for my opinion? I think this guy’s no good, just looking at him, he seems slick and insincere.”

”...No, Third Uncle, I wasn’t asking your opinion, I just thought this guy, he looks a bit like you.”

Lu Sanzhu touched his own face. How could that be? This guy was skinny, while he himself was handsome, suave, and successful. Yu must have poor eyesight.
