The Ace Bigshot Becomes A Farmgirl

Qi Lie, hands behind his back, leisurely walked out the door.

Meng Yunzheng lingered a step behind, turned his head and winked at Shu Yu, then followed out.

The next moment, the customers in the store erupted with a ’boom’.

”Buy! I want to buy sunflower oil, give me one can, no, two big cans.”

”I want some too! I want some too!”

”I came first, quickly wrap it up for me, three cans, I want three cans.”

”And me, don’t sell out, set some aside for me.”

The crowd rushed to the oil-selling counter. As soon as Qi Lie spoke, Shu Yu anticipated this situation and gave Daniu a nod. The latter had experienced the opening of the store in Dongan Province and quickly realized what was happening, pulling Meng Qi to the front of the sunflower oil counter to help.

Sure enough, as soon as Qi Lie walked out, everyone began to squeeze forward, and he quickly maintained order, ”One by one, we have plenty of stock in the warehouse, so don’t worry, there’s enough for everyone.”

Qi Lie’s assurance seemed like a shot of confidence for the crowd, instantly dispelling any doubts they had about the sunflower oil, and without a word, they took out their money and bought it.

This product is supplied to the palace, and Lord Qi praises it highly. It’s not available anywhere else. Even if they can’t consume all of it themselves, gifting it to others is quite prestigious.

Some wealthy households who initially wanted to wait for the crowd to thin out saw the frenzy and couldn’t hold back anymore. If they kept waiting, the guests wouldn’t decrease, but the goods might be sold out.

So they immediately sent their servants and maids to squeeze in and start buying frantically.

But sunflower oil is a bit pricey, and ordinary people without much savings can only look on with envy, even though they’re tempted. However, even if they can’t afford the sunflower oil, melon seeds are affordable. Instant noodles are also a staple, very practical.

In no time, the store was packed full of people.

Ying Xi and Meng Han were busy maintaining order, shouting until their voices went hoarse, while also answering each customer’s questions.

Shu Yu had already returned behind the counter to start collecting money and keeping accounts. Her movements were swift, her mental arithmetic almost as good as Meng Yunzheng’s. With so many customers, only she could handle it.

But after a busy half-day of receiving and returning change, her hand was sore beyond measure.

This frenzy persisted till nearly noon before finally calming down, making the surrounding shopkeepers who had been watching the commotion breathe a sigh of relief.

This was outrageous; was this kind of customer flow even normal? Did all the city’s people come?

Seizing a moment of leisure, Shu Yu arranged for the staff to take turns having lunch, as there’d be no time to rest at noon with the never-ending stream of customers.

The stock originally placed in the store had been heavily consumed, so Shu Yu instructed Daniu to bring out another batch from the warehouse to refill the counters.

No sooner had they replenished the stock than a lively crowd arrived again.

”County magistrate, we’re here to congratulate you.”

Shu Yu took a closer look and, oh boy, wasn’t it Old Master Yang, He Er, and Young Master He? How come they were all here?

Old Master Yang and the others were carrying congratulatory gifts, and since Jiang Fengshou didn’t know them, he only accepted the gifts after Shu Yu nodded.

Shu Yu smiled and said, ”Old Master Yang, what brings you here?”

”County magistrate’s grand opening, how could we not come?” As they spoke, everyone turned to look at the store.

Hmm... there are indeed a lot of guests. But it seems like not many people are buying; the store’s stock hasn’t depleted much after all.
