The Ace Bigshot Becomes A Farmgirl

Chapter 1932: Chapter 1934: Encountering the Old Lady on the Road

After the meal, Shu Yu asked Daniu about the journey.

Daniu said, “Everything went smoothly. Those escorts are all experienced. I actually didn’t need to manage much along the way. They had everything arranged, and I just followed behind, observing and learning.”

He scratched his head and laughed, “Feels like I’ve learned a lot.”

“So it’s really beneficial to go out and about.” That’s why Shu Yu had put Daniu in charge of this delivery.

Daniu nodded, “We even ran into Grandmother and Second and Third Uncles on the way.”

Shu Yu was surprised, “You bumped into them, just like that?”

“Yeah, I also saw Aunt and Yuan Gui. That’s when I found out how much Aunt has suffered over these years. If it weren’t for Grandmother, I wouldn’t have known you became the county magistrate. It really shocked me.”

Shu Yu, “…” So, they even ran into the Tang family parents?

She remembered Third Uncle saying that once the Tang family parents got word of Tang Wenqian becoming a county magistrate, they’d surely spread the news everywhere. He didn’t have the chance to boast about Shu Yu being a county magistrate yet.

She could guess with her toes, “Did Third Uncle tell Uncle Tang in front of them that I’m the county magistrate?”

Daniu chuckled, “He did, and said it multiple times. When he mentioned you, he didn’t use your name, just called you ‘county magistrate.’ We were all stunned when we first heard it. Yu, you’re amazing.”

Shu Yu rubbed her forehead, “I’m afraid once we return to Dongan Province, he’ll announce it to everyone.”

In the letters she wrote home to Daniu, she didn’t mention this matter. She only mentioned that she was going to open a shop here and instructed him to transport the goods over quickly.

Since it was Daniu’s first long trip and with such a large volume of goods, Shu Yu detailed very meticulously about the delivery, like hiring escorts, cautionary points on the road, possible troubles, how to preserve the cargo, finding someone to guard the goods when sleeping outside, and upon reaching Changjin Prefecture, to first visit Meng Yunzheng at the government office.

Just these things alone filled several pages, leaving her with no time to mention how she became a county magistrate, which was really a trivial matter.

So Daniu learned the news after meeting with the old lady and them, and the Tang family parents were caught off guard by this news.

Actually, whether it was Tang Wenqian becoming a county magistrate or Shu Yu becoming a county magistrate, neither side intended to compare. They didn’t even know if there was anything comparable.

However, Madam Tang and Lu Sanzhu were privately competing.

Shu Yu didn’t understand what on earth was going on in their minds, but in the future, it was fine. The Tang parents came to Chenggu County, and they’d have fewer chances of meeting Third Uncle.

Shu Yu asked about the family’s situation again, and Daniu said everything was fine. The branch shop in Dongan Province was already on the right track.

He also mentioned that before the New Year, Wei Ronghua suggested an event, and after a few people discussed it, sure enough, business increased dramatically after the twelfth lunar month. Melon seeds have apparently become the trendiest New Year’s goods in Dongan Province.

Shu Yu was amused, as melon seeds are also a must-have New Year’s item for every family in modern times.

If people developed the habit in the future, the sales of melon seeds would become very stable.

The workshop has expanded quite a bit, but many people have already started planting sunflowers, so competitors will surely emerge in the future.

Shu Yu was mentally prepared for this and nodded to show understanding.

Daniu took a sip of water, suddenly stopped speaking, and his face showed signs of hesitating to speak.
