The Ace Bigshot Becomes A Farmgirl

Capítulo 1844: Chapter 1844: No Experience Raising Children

The old lady saw her feeling sad and reached out to hold her hand, saying softly, “Your fortune lies ahead.”

The group didn’t have much success on this trip into the mountains, mainly because the time was too short. Plus, when they later encountered Yuan Gui, after hearing that the old lady had come to Hedeng Village, he lost interest in staying in the mountains, so the group returned directly.

Therefore, Third Lu decided to go into the mountains again in the afternoon.

In the morning, Ying Dong and Ying Xi didn’t go along; they stayed home with Hua Xian to help prepare lunch.

In the afternoon, they were dragged along as well. With more people around, it was bustling all afternoon. Not only did they have a fruitful harvest, but they also carried a three-hundred-pound wild boar down the mountain, causing quite a stir.

A few days ago, Yuan Gui also saw wild boars when he went into the mountains, but his bow and arrows weren’t sharp enough, and there were several boars at that time. At such a crucial moment, he didn’t dare get injured, so he hid and only hunted small prey.

He didn’t expect to be so lucky today and encounter them again.

With Shu Yu’s sleeve arrows and Ying Dong and Ying Xi’s skills, the group worked together and in the blink of an eye, they took down the wild boar.

Along with other small prey, they could say they returned with a full load.

They left everything to Yuan Gui; Shu Yu and the others weren’t lacking in food, they were just there for the excitement.

So, when they returned, they were quite relaxed.

The old lady was quite reluctant to leave. She really wanted to stay and have an all-night chat with her sister. But she had seen the Fang family’s circumstances; the Fang family’s courtyard was really small.

There were only two rooms in total, and the room Yuan Gui stayed in was a small warehouse tidied up — half was for storing things, and the other half held a very simple wooden bed.

If the old lady stayed, others would surely be worried and would insist on leaving someone to accompany her.

Forget it, as Yu said, there’s no rush at the moment. After all, they have already met and reunited.

The old lady sat in the carriage, poking her head out of the window, and waved reluctantly to Granny Fang, saying, “You must come tomorrow.”

Granny Fang nodded repeatedly, “I will go.” Today, Yuan Gui caught quite a bit of game; once it’s sorted, they still need to take it to the county town to sell it tomorrow, so she will go then.

Only then was the old lady satisfied, waving her hand to signal for departure.

The carriage quickly left the village entrance. The old lady watched as the figures behind disappeared from sight, then she lowered the carriage curtain and let out a deep sigh.

Shu Yu saw her looking weary, so he adjusted the cushion in the carriage for comfort and helped her lie down.

The old lady leaned back and closed her eyes to rest, occasionally speaking a few words, “Your Aunt, ah, she’s still the same as in childhood, always sticking to me. No, she’s changed a lot — she won’t talk to me about the bad and sad things that happened over the years, afraid that I would worry. She only says that she’s doing well, only suffered a little in the first two years after arriving here, but after coming to Hedeng Village, everyone has been taking care of her, and life is quite stable.”

“But you don’t know, she asked me how to get along with children. Even though she accepted Ah Gui as her grandson, she doesn’t know how to take care of him and has no experience. When I heard this, it felt like a knife cutting into my heart, it was extremely painful.”

“Back when I gave birth to your Eldest Uncle, she was not yet married and loved children very much. She spent her hard-saved copper coins to buy things for your Eldest Uncle. Originally, she thought she’d have her own child soon after getting married, but she didn’t expect…”
