The Ace Bigshot Becomes A Farmgirl

Chapter 1826: Chapter 1826: Two Carriages Enter the City

Qiao Rou is the girl who once followed Jiang Kuanyu.

This decision surprised Shu Yu and the others immensely. Lu Wu, on the other hand, said a bit sheepishly, ”Actually, back in the black market, Miss Qiao Rou helped me once.”

Although they hadn’t interacted much afterward, Lu Wu remembered it in his heart.

After leaving the black market, as their interactions increased, their feelings naturally deepened.

Lu Wu wanted to marry Qiao Rou, to live a stable life afterward, which was quite good.

Tang Wenqian naturally had no objections and promised on the spot to give them a big gift when they marry.

Lu Wu is currently an inspector, and during this incident, he assisted Xia Yi and was clearly observed for his leadership abilities and skills.

Currently, in Chenggu County, there’s only one Inspector Yin. The other two inspectors committed crimes and have been sentenced to death.

With inspector positions vacant and capable personnel scarce, Lu Wu, being capable and talented with a clean background and even being a descendant of loyalty, was appointed by the emperor to this inspector position.

Not only Lu Wu, but those who acted with him in the black market and were unhindered have been incorporated as his subordinates.

Of course, Tang Wenqian would also find ways to arrange work for those who were persecuted and disabled.

With Lu Wu leading, surprisingly a few others also appeared, all smitten with some girls, requesting the county magistrate to preside over their marriages.

Among them were laborers and Lu Wu’s subordinates, all alone and able to decide for themselves.

Tang Wenqian had no objections, as long as they were willing and had thought it through, they could marry.

Yet this stirred thoughts in Xia Yi.

In these times, the disparity between men and women is such that many families drowned daughters just to have sons, leading to an imbalance between the sexes later on.

Moreover, some affluent men have taken several concubines, leaving many men single.

This situation is especially acute in the military.

Xia Yi thought it might be better to pair them up, and if both parties were willing, it would be mutually beneficial.

She asked the opinions of the girls present; actually, most wanted to find someone to marry and live a stable life. Therefore, they were quite moved by Xia Yi’s proposal and after consideration, all agreed.

Of course, there were some girls who were indifferent to this matter, not wanting to get married and only wanting to live independently.

Tang Wenqian and Xia Yi respected their choice, allowing them to set up their own households.

Eventually, among these girls, half chose to get married. Some chose to live together for support, planning to find some work or use the compensation from the authorities to start a small business. The remaining girls wanted to leave Chenggu County to find a new place to live where no one knew them.

Finally, three girls became disillusioned with worldly affairs and planned to become nuns.

Tang Wenqian had them consider it carefully, ensuring there would be no regrets, and then proceeded as they wished.

Thus, the settlement of the laborers and girls was resolved.

Shu Yu busied herself for several days, only coming to a complete stop by the eighth day of the first lunar month.

The New Year had gone halfway, and Shu Yu and Meng Yunzheng planned to set off back to Dongan Province after the Lantern Festival, with her starting to prepare local specialties to take back.

However, Shu Yu was unaware that on the ninth day of the first lunar month, two carriages began clattering into Chenggu County.
