The Ace Bigshot Becomes A Farmgirl

Chapter 1839: Chapter 1839: You All Know the New County Magistrate

Speaking of the county magistrate of Chenggu County, Shu Yu suddenly straightened her back with an ”ah” sound.

Everyone turned their heads to look at her, ”What’s wrong?”

”There’s something I forgot to tell you all. The original county magistrate of Chenggu County colluded with rebels, and he’s already been imprisoned and will be escorted to the capital to be executed. Now a new magistrate has arrived in the county town, and this person...”

”What about this person?” Third Lu immediately perked up, ”Is it possible that this magistrate is not a good official either?”

”Not really, but you all know this magistrate.”

”We know him?” Everyone was surprised and started recalling the important figures they knew.

The old lady and Lu Erbai naturally thought of people they met in the southwest, ”Could it be Lord Yao’s son?” They didn’t know any other big figures.

Shu Yu shook her head and smiled, ”It’s Tang Wenqian.”

”Pfft...” Third Lu had just taken a sip of tea and sprayed it right out.

He stared at her in shock, ”Who did you just say? Tang Wenqian? Scholar Tang, uh, no, Scholarly Man Tang?”

Shu Yu nodded, ”That’s right, it’s him.”

The Lu family couldn’t react for a while, all of them showing a look of disbelief.

How did Tang Wenqian suddenly become an official, and what’s more, the county magistrate of Chenggu County?

”Whoa, won’t the two elders of the Tang family be overjoyed?” Third Lu felt a bit sour inside. His wife used to argue and curse with Madam Tang, but now that her status has suddenly risen, would he have to bow when he sees them in the future?

No, no, no, Tang Wenqian may have become a magistrate, but our Yu has also become a county magistrate, equally noble in status.

Besides, Yunzheng is a Scholar who has consistently excelled in exams and is very learned; he will surely hold a higher position than Tang Wenqian in the future, so there’s nothing to fear.

Shu Yu briefly mentioned the happenings in the capital, ”...Tang Wenqian achieved merit while working with Lord Xiang, so he became the county magistrate here by way of the scholarly examination. He told me he has already written home to inform his parents, and once things have settled here, he’ll bring them over.”

The old lady and Third Lu shared a glance, both shaking their heads as they said, ”No way, Madam Tang couldn’t possibly wait, and would probably arrange to set off as soon as she received the letter. They are most likely on the way now; we might even run into each other if we stay a few more days.”

Third Lu agreed wholeheartedly, ”Not only that, before they leave, they will surely spread the word widely in the village and the county town, believe it or not? It’s such a pity, Yu, if you’d written in your letter home that you’d become a county magistrate, we could’ve gone and flaunted it first.”

Shu Yu felt somewhat exasperated, ”When I wrote the letter, the emperor’s decree hadn’t arrived yet. I only received the Imperial Decree from Tang Wenqian on New Year’s Day.” It’s only been a few days since then.

Upon hearing this, Third Lu slapped his thigh, ”Tang Wenqian must’ve done it on purpose. Why didn’t he announce the Imperial Decree sooner?”

Shu Yu sighed deeply, ”He only arrived in Chenggu County three days before the New Year.”

Third Lu still wanted to say something, but the old lady pulled him aside, ”Alright, you think too much.” She turned back and asked Shu Yu, ”Since we and Lord Tang are from the same village and somewhat acquainted in the past, should we go to see him now that he’s here?”

”Let’s save this for later. He’s very busy at the moment, so we can see if there’s an opportunity when he has some free time.”
