The Ace Bigshot Becomes A Farmgirl

Chapter 1815: Chapter 1815: Shu Yu Becomes Wen’an County Lord

But only Meng Pei and Shu Yu know that Meng Yunzheng does not plan to become an official in the future.

It always feels like the Emperor is holding back some big surprise.

Before they could think it through, Tang Wenqian suddenly lifted his head and glanced at Shu Yu.

Then, he took out an imperial decree from the box behind him.

”...Monarch Lu Xiang is wise and courageous, admired greatly by the former Emperor for her abilities... Now bestows the title of Wen’an County Lord upon Monarch Lu Xiang...”

Shu Yu: ”...” What did she just hear?

The others present were also stunned—County Lord? Monarch Lu Xiang has now become County Lord Lu?

Tang Wenqian finally finished reading the imperial decree, and he looked up, ”Please give your thanks, everyone.”

”Thank you, Your Majesty, for your grace.”

Meng Pei and Shu Yu stepped forward to receive the imperial decree, still a bit bewildered.

Tang Wenqian’s main purpose today was to read the imperial decree. Having done so, he should leave, as there was much to do and he couldn’t stay.

Especially since those rescued from the black market currently staying in an abandoned mansion had their identities verified and needed their intentions understood—whether to return home or settle here.

Thinking of all this, Tang Wenqian couldn’t stay at the Meng family any longer.

After the county magistrate left, those still in the Meng family finally came to their senses, and the next moment, the whole household was in an uproar.

Meng Han jumped directly in front of Shu Yu, eyes burning at the imperial decree in her hands, ”County Lord? Sister Shuyu, you’ve become a County Lord. My goodness, let me touch it.”

Shu Yu laughed, thinking she wanted to touch the imperial decree, and moved it forward.

To her surprise, Meng Han grabbed Shu Yu’s arm, touching here and there, ”It’s my first time knowing someone of such noble status, and it’s my future sister-in-law, someone who’s particularly good to me. I need to touch more to share in the luck.”

Shu Yu was amused. Compared to Meng Han’s excitement, her reaction was much calmer.

Meng Han thought she had the demeanor of a general, very composed, but only Shu Yu knew her own inner turmoil.

County Lord — this status stands out even in the capital. Becoming a County Lord means her business could expand to the capital. Even without relying on the identities of Grand Tutor Qi and others, she would have a solid footing.

Shu Yu couldn’t help but smile, turning to look at Meng Yunzheng, who winked at her.

The two walked aside to talk quietly. Meng Yunzheng took the imperial decree from her hand and read it again. ”Wen’an County Lord, hmm, well deserved.”

”Looks like my trip was worth it,” Shu Yu was quite pleased with the name Wen’an, ”By the way, did you know beforehand? You went to the county office after coming back yesterday, right? Tang Wenqian mentioned it to you?”

”He mentioned it briefly but did not specify the details of the conferment.”

”And about the Emperor’s reward for you...”

”The Emperor knows my future plans, but his desire for me to enter the court as an official hasn’t changed. This time, he’s saving my contributions, actually intending to grant me a position of fifth or sixth rank directly after my success in exams.”

Generally, candidates passing the imperial examinations either enter the Hanlin Academy or serve elsewhere, or they can only be a small eighth-rank official.

It’s not easy to get promoted step by step from one rank to another. The Emperor indeed has great ambitions, directly wanting Meng Yunzheng to leap several ranks.

”But don’t worry, my plans won’t change. The most the Emperor might do is, hmm, scold me for being short-sighted or foolish, but he won’t force me.”

Shu Yu ’chuckled’ aloud, ”Your mind is very good; being a teacher is forward-thinking, cultivating the pillars of our dynasty, right?”
