The Ace Bigshot Becomes A Farmgirl

Chapter 1825: Chapter 1825: The Girls’ Resettlement Issue

Since then, Tao Qin and the Zhang Clan have never visited the Meng family’s home again.

Later, Meng Han paid some attention and heard that Tao Qin eventually married Landlord Jin as planned.

However, it didn’t take long before she was rejected by Landlord Jin, who had concubines at home, each one more alluring than the next. Since Tao Qin became the legitimate wife, even if she didn’t like Landlord Jin, she couldn’t allow these concubines to run wild over her head.

The two sides were at odds, quickly getting into a fight, turning Landlord Jin’s backyard into chaos.

Landlord Jin still preferred gentle and understanding girls, so Tao Qin was just a novelty for a few days.

On the other hand, Tao Ling was living better and better in the Tao Family Village.

Shu Yu wasn’t concerned about these matters. After the New Year, she was invited by Tang Wenqian to help at the county office.

Tang Wenqian was so busy that he didn’t even get a break for the New Year; he needed to familiarize himself with the office’s duties. Before he fully adapted, the first task was to arrange for those laborers and girls who came out of the black market.

Before the New Year, Xia Yi had already registered everyone’s personal information.

Later, General Huang’s Deputy General coordinated efforts to verify their identities. Most of them had been bought, abducted, or deceived, and most of the girls weren’t locals and lived far away.

Therefore, some of the people verifying the information haven’t returned yet.

However, more than half of the laborers lived not too far away, so their identities were the easiest to verify.

Now, after confirming this, they needed to arrange for where they should go.

Tang Wenqian asked about their intentions; the laborers were indifferent. They were men, and when they returned home, they still had a place to stay. Unless no one was left at home, or they had conflicts with their families and didn’t want to return, the rest all chose to go back to their hometowns.

After Tang Wenqian confirmed their identities, he issued them identity certificates.

They had performed meritorious deeds in the rebellion, and the imperial court rewarded each with money so they could have travel expenses when they returned.

Additionally, General Huang’s soldiers remained there and would escort them back once everyone’s identities were confirmed, explaining the situation to the local authorities.

Now, Tang Wenqian was troubled about the group of girls. Half of them were abducted, and the other half were sold by their families.

Not to mention those sold; they certainly couldn’t go back.

The girls who were abducted understood in their hearts that they couldn’t return either. Even if they were merely maids on the black market and remained chaste, after missing for so long, others wouldn’t believe they were still pure maidens.

Being pointed at is the least of their worries; they feared being sent to a convent or facing a dead end if they returned.

They didn’t want to die. Struggling to escape that hellish black market, they all longed to live.

However, there were still a few girls favored by their families who were not resigned and wanted to go back for a look. If their parents still accepted them, they wanted to stay at home; if not, they would return.

Tang Wenqian felt deep sympathy for these girls. Their request was not excessive, and after discussing with Xia Yi, he agreed.

The current issue was how to arrange for those who stayed; they couldn’t live in that large mansion forever.

Tang Wenqian asked Shu Yu for her opinion, and Shu Yu thought to ask the girls themselves.

Let them decide what they want to do or where they wish to go.

To everyone’s surprise, Lu Wu suddenly came over and said he wanted to marry Qiao Rou.
