The Ace Bigshot Becomes A Farmgirl

Chapter 1842: Chapter 1842: Actually, I’m Quite Good at Hunting

Shu Yu quickly calmed down, seeing the two old women crying so hard they were nearly passing out, she hurriedly asked Ying Xi to help support them.

”Grandmother, Aunt, let’s go inside first, and talk slowly indoors.”

The old lady sniffled, holding Granny Fang’s hand tightly, ”Yes, let’s talk inside, don’t block the doorway.”

Granny Fang nodded repeatedly, neither willing to let go, they were led inside hand in hand.

Granny Fang directly took the old lady into her room, their eyes only for each other. Seeing this, everyone else did not go inside to disturb them, closing the door to give them some private space to talk.

The remaining people stayed in the courtyard, and only then did the Old Village Chief look at Lu Erbai and the others, asking Shu Yu, ”Who are these people...”

”Oh, this is my father, this is my Third Uncle.” She then introduced Shurui and the other two.

Although the three young men Shurui, being quite boisterous at times, were educated and fairly courteous when going out, immediately greeting respectfully.

The Old Village Chief, seeing their demeanor, knew that the three were educated, feeling a tinge of envy.

He had not expected that not only Granny Fang’s sister would come over, but her son and grandsons would also join.

Among them, Lu Erbai was the more steady one. He walked to the Old Village Chief’s side, inquiring about Granny Fang’s well-being over the years.

However, Lu Sanzhu was a restless one.

After drinking a few sips of hot water brought by Granny Feng from the kitchen, he couldn’t help but look around.

The courtyard was really small and shabby, worse than the one he lived in back in Shangshi Village. Aunt has truly had a tough time over the years. It’s good that I’m here now, I must help her relieve some stress.

Lu Sanzhu looked around for a long time, suddenly realized something amiss, and abruptly interrupted the Old Village Chief and Lu Erbai who were engrossed in conversation.

”Wasn’t it said that my Aunt acknowledged a grandson? Where is he, why haven’t I seen him after so long?”

The Old Village Chief quickly replied, ”Yuan Gui has gone hunting in the mountains.”

Yuan Gui had been helping in the county office earlier this year, but didn’t return after the New Year. Firstly, after Tang Wenqian took over the county office, he began reorganizing personnel, and Yuan Gui was about to leave soon, so he didn’t disrupt the new county magistrate’s arrangements.

Secondly, the rebel incident was already some time past, and the mountains here became safe. Granny Fang allowed him to go into the mountains for some hunting to earn some money for the family.

Seizing the opportunity of good weather these days, Yuan Gui went to the outer mountains a few times.

He was skilled and did manage to hunt quite a few pheasants and hares.

Previously, while working at the county office, Yuan Gui became acquainted with wealthy families in the county town. After hunting, he would first ask these families. It was just during the festive season when visitors came and went, and having wild game was more delightful; hence once he took his catch to the county town, it sold out.

In just a few days, he had saved more than ten taels of silver.

The speed of saving money even surprised the Old Village Chief upon hearing it.

However, thinking about it, since few people went to the mountains before, it was just after a full winter and early spring when hunting was indeed a bit easier.

Lu Sanzhu, upon hearing Yuan Gui was in the mountains, grew excited, ”Where did he go? I want to find him. You don’t know, but I actually have a lot of hunting experience.”

Dabao beside him nodded heavily, ”My father used to often bring game home to eat.”

The others, ”...”

Haha, as if no one knows, the old Lu Sanzhu was sneaking fish out of traps set by hunters back in the day.
