The Ace Bigshot Becomes A Farmgirl

Chapter 1814: Chapter 1814: Rewards for the Meng Family and Meng Yunzheng

”Pff...” Meng Pei almost spat out a mouthful of tea when he heard this.

He looked up in surprise, ”Read the Imperial Decree?”

”Yes.” Tang Wenqian stood up, his expression solemn as he began to speak, ”Meng Pei, Meng Yunzheng, Lu Shuyu, receive the decree.”

Meng Pei jolted and quickly knelt down, followed by Meng Yunzheng and Shuyu, and the others present also knelt down.

Only then did Tang Wenqian take a decree out of the box held by his attendant behind him. Meng Pei and the others had noticed the box from the beginning, originally thinking it was a New Year’s gift from Tang Wenqian.

Though strange why the box had not been put down, they did not ask further.

Unexpectedly, it actually contained an Imperial Decree?

”By the command of the Emperor: Chaos in Chenggu County deeply troubles the people, and they are caught in dire straits. I am deeply concerned, fortunately the Meng family has a son...”

The Emperor’s decree fully affirmed the contributions of Meng Yunzheng and Shuyu.

Everyone present had gone through these hardships together, and hearing the Emperor’s recognition in the decree, they each felt honored, their hearts surging with enthusiasm.

The awards for Old Master Yang and He Er among others had already been announced two days ago.

Although they have yet to receive their rewards, hearing the decree now, they knew that awards were bound to come.

The decree said Meng Yunzheng and Shuyu assisted Imperial Guard Xia Yi to destroy the rebel base, rescued hostages trapped inside, and persuaded wealthy households in Chenggu County to aid General Huang in capturing the fleeing rebel County Magistrate Qiu.

Their righteous acts alleviated Chenggu County’s plight, thoroughly crushing the rebels’ treasonous plans.

Therefore, the Emperor wanted to reward them.

The Meng family escort agency was bestowed the imperial plaque - ’Loyalty and Gallantry’. It could be hung in the main hall as the agency’s signboard.

This was an incredible reward. For an escort agency in the county town, even receiving words of praise from a magistrate or county official was already impressive.

Yet the Meng family escort agency ascended directly, receiving the Emperor’s affirmation.

’Loyalty and Gallantry’, such a signboard is unique to the Meng family agency throughout the Dasu dynasty.

Uncle Meng’s hands trembled with excitement, holding Meng Pei’s arm tightly, his eyes moist.

The escort agency, run by the Meng family for generations, reached the pinnacle of honor in the hands of him and his brother.

With this plaque, the Meng family’s escort agency could flourish gloriously for at least three more generations.

The other escorts in the agency were looking at each other, faces unabashedly reflecting their excitement.

From now on, the escorts at the Meng family agency would walk with pride, distinguished by their bearing.

Before the others in the Meng family could rejoice, Tang Wenqian continued reading on.

After rewarding the Meng family escort agency, it was Meng Yunzheng’s turn.

Compared to the agency’s glory, Meng Yunzheng’s reward was...

A hundred taels of gold?

Even Shuyu couldn’t help but tilt his head to look at him, was the Emperor so stingy with him?

Meng Yunzheng didn’t just break into the black market, seize Chenggu County; he also collaborated with Qi Lie to resolve the prefecture city of Changjin Prefecture.

However, in the next moment, Shuyu heard Tang Wenqian say that Meng Yunzheng had earned the scholar’s title and was to participate in the provincial exam this year, and the metropolitan and palace exams next year. Should he achieve high ranking, he would be handsomely rewarded then.

Upon hearing this, the crowd felt like the Emperor was waiting for Meng Yunzheng to succeed and become a high official.

Thinking this way, Meng Yunzheng’s future seemed promising, definitely bound for a glorious path ahead.
