The Ace Bigshot Becomes A Farmgirl

Chapter 1823: Chapter 1823: I Gave Her Two Taels of Silver

This time, once you leave, you get lost and can’t find your way back.

Half an hour later, when Tao Ling returned, Landlord Jin was entangled with Tao Qin.

Tao Ling caught the two in bed, screaming, which attracted the servants from the manor, and the scene became chaotic beyond control.

Tao Qin was asleep in bed, while Tao Ling ran home to inform the Zhang Clan.

By the time the Zhang Clan ran frantically to the manor, Landlord Jin calmly told her that since both daughters were hers, it didn’t matter if he swapped one for another, he wanted to marry Tao Qin.

The Zhang Clan wanted to refuse, but thinking that she couldn’t afford to offend Landlord Jin, and since Tao Qin had lost her innocence, she wouldn’t be able to marry into a good family.

Given the situation, she could only nod in agreement.

Afterward, she and Tao Ling took the still sleeping Tao Qin home.

When Tao Qin woke up and learned she was to marry Landlord Jin, who was over fifty, she felt as if struck by lightning and immediately broke down.

She said she had been set up, claiming Tao Ling must have drugged her, otherwise how could she have felt so uncomfortable, unaware, and ended up doing such things with Landlord Jin.

She wanted to confront Tao Ling desperately.

At this point, Tao Ling no longer pretended and readily admitted to her actions.

But what does admitting change? Tao Qin was already Landlord Jin’s woman, could she dare to back out of the marriage? If she did, the entire Tao family, including Tao Qin, the Zhang Clan, and even their precious son, would be killed by Landlord Jin.

In that moment, the Zhang Clan looked at Tao Ling with fear in her eyes.

She had never expected her usually obedient and easily bullied second daughter to harbor such deep thoughts and resentment.

The Tao family was in utter chaos, Tao Qin hated Tao Ling deeply and wanted to drive her out.

Coincidentally, Tao Ling no longer wanted to stay in this household, so she packed her things and headed back to Tao Family Village.

Meng Han told Shu Yu, ”When we went to Tao Family Village today to visit relatives, we accidentally saw Tao Ling. It struck me as odd, so I curiously asked, and then heard this shocking news. After returning to Tao Family Village, Tao Ling confessed to the village chief. Although the village chief found her actions despicable, he didn’t drive her away since she hadn’t come of age yet.”

Nowadays, Tao Ling lives in the old house of the Tao family.

She is quite capable, tidying up the yard herself, climbing up to repair the roof. She also cleared a plot in the yard to plant some vegetables when the weather got warmer.

Every day, she goes up the mountain to collect firewood and find something to eat. People in the village know what she’s done. Some find her terrifying and avoid her, fearing she’ll scheme against them.

But some sympathize with her, thinking she had no choice, and secretly give her some food.

Shu Yu thoughtfully said, ”Perhaps this is what she wants. She deliberately told the village chief about her actions, one to shut up Zhang Clan and Tao Qin in the future, and second to show people she’s not easy to bully.”

Time will reveal one’s true character, and eventually, people will come around as they learn about her.

Meng Han nodded and glanced around, speaking softly to Shu Yu, ”Well, actually, I went to see her and gave her... two taels of silver.”

Shu Yu looked at her in surprise, and Meng Han’s face flushed red, ”I just think she’s quite formidable, I dislike Tao Qin and Aunt. I’m glad she’s cleaning up Tao Qin’s mess, she’s on my side. She’s not having it easy now, so I’m just giving her a hand.”
