The Ace Bigshot Becomes A Farmgirl

Chapter 1836: Chapter 1836: I Know She’s Not Doing Well

Shurui and the three were very happy, agreeing hastily.

The old lady couldn’t help shaking her head when she saw this, saying to them, ”Alright, all of you go back to your rooms and rest first, anything else can wait until later.”

Third Lu was very tired, upon hearing this he turned around pulling his son with him, ”I’ve picked my room, I’m going now, don’t fight with me for it.”

Who was going to fight with him? He really didn’t have the demeanor of an elder.

The old lady snorted coldly and instructed Lu Erbai to follow and keep an eye on him, since they were guests at the Meng family, they should not make too much noise or lose decorum.

After everyone else had left, Shu Yu stood up too, ”Grandmother, why don’t you get some sleep too, it’s still early.”

Unexpectedly, just as she stood up, the old lady pulled her back.

Shu Yu was full of confusion, ”Grandmother?”

”Don’t be in a hurry to go, I have something to ask you.”

Shu Yu immediately realized she wanted to ask about Aunt’s matters, as her purpose coming here was precisely for Aunt.

She immediately chuckled, ”Grandmother, you are too anxious. Rest assured, Aunt is fine, she doesn’t live in the county town, tomorrow I’ll take you to see her.”

The old lady, however, sighed, ”Don’t hide from me, I know she’s not very well.”

”You this...”

The old lady produced the letter sent back for peace of mind, ”I’ve read your letter, it only mentioned you found her, and said you’d bring her back after the new year, nothing else. I found it odd, you honestly tell me, what really happened to your Aunt?”

The old lady hadn’t thought much upon first receiving the letter, she was immersed in the joy of finding her sister.

Later, when Madam Ruan mentioned preparing a meeting gift for her sister’s family, she suddenly realized that Shu Yu didn’t mention anyone else in the letter.

The old lady understood Shu Yu well, such a joyful matter, for the old lady it was a concern that weighed on her heart for decades. Now that her sister was found, anything regarding Aunt, however detailed it could be, should have been detailed to make the old lady happy.

But the letter brushed over things in a couple of sentences, not even mentioning how many people were in her sister’s family, which was indeed very unusual.

And Yu said, bring her back, not them, just ’her’ alone.

The old lady had a bad premonition, fearing her sister had lived very difficultly all these years.

Shu Yu didn’t expect her letter would reveal a flaw, she couldn’t help but smile bitterly.

Saying too much is wrong; saying too little makes people suspect something is off.

She sighed, ”Grandmother, regarding Aunt’s matter, it’s quite long, you’ve traveled and are tired, let me tell you another day.”

”No need, go ahead, on this journey I’ve already prepared myself mentally.”

The old lady insisted, Shu Yu knew she couldn’t hide it anymore.

So be it, sooner or later it has to be told.

She held the old lady’s hand and began to recount, as concisely as possible, the incidents Aunt experienced back then.

Even if brief, what’s necessary must still be said.

As the old lady listened, her hands started gently trembling, and by the time Shu Yu finished, she was already in tears.

Even Hua Xian beside them couldn’t help shedding tears, dabbing the corners of her eyes with her sleeve.

Shu Yu embraced the old lady’s shoulders, gently patting her back.

”How, how could this happen? These years, how did she manage to get through? Silly girl, truly silly. How could she not think to send a letter back to confirm... With no relatives around, and being sick and unable to have children, she’s truly had a hard life.”
