The Ace Bigshot Becomes A Farmgirl

Chapter 1623: Chapter 1623: It’s That Old Master Qian Again

Shu Yu paused, ”That Old Master Qian from Donggu County?”

”Yes.” Dazhuang nodded, ”Zhang Qing is spineless. After being questioned by the village chief, he confessed right away. That Old Master Qian gave him money to steal the sunflower seeds. Not just this time, last time too. According to Zhang Qing, Old Master Qian had already planted the sunflower seeds from before, but they didn’t grow well. It rained for many days recently, and the sunflowers looked like they were going to die, so he came up with this idea again.”

When he talked about the sunflowers dying, Dazhuang was visibly pained.

He knew how easy it was to grow sunflowers; they didn’t require much for their growing environment. Land originally used for grains could be used for sunflowers, yielding an abundant harvest.

Yet Old Master Qian had the ability to let crops over several acres perish; he clearly didn’t know how to grow them.

And yet he didn’t bother to learn, and at this critical time, he sends someone to steal seeds. Although the sunflowers had started to fruit these days, they were not mature at all. What use is it for Zhang Qing to steal the seeds now?

In the end, not only will they fail to plant, but the sunflowers in our fields will be ruined as well.

People who don’t cherish crops are truly despicable.

Shu Yu sneered, of course he failed at planting; the land was too moist, with no sunlight nearby, and during planting, it was the hottest and sunniest time. Even though sunflowers like the sun, they’re fragile when sprouting. Who could handle such mistreatment?

The worst part is...

”Stole from me once, steals again this time, really takes me for a pushover, just picking on me alone to take advantage!!”

Zhao Xi rubbed his chin and said, ”That Old Master Qian is after all in Donggu County and doesn’t know much about you. Although you are the Village Chief, you’re from a farming background. In his eyes, there’s probably nothing to worry about.”

Dazhuang was indignant, ”Boss, we can’t let him off so easily this time. Tell me, what should we do?”

”Report it to the authorities.”

Dazhuang immediately agreed, ”Alright, I’ll go to the county office right away.”

As he turned to leave, Shu Yu quickly stopped him, ”Wait.”

Dazhuang was puzzled, ”What’s wrong, Boss?”

Shu Yu frowned, ”Reporting to the county office won’t do much good. The other party is from Donggu County, and to arrest him, we’d have to negotiate with the county magistrate of Donggu County. I’ve heard from Wu Fengyuan that Old Master Qian’s family used to deal in tea business, so they should be well off and probably have some connections with the Donggu County magistrate, otherwise, he wouldn’t be so bold. The Donggu County magistrate might not give me this face.”

Zhao Xi nodded, ”Moreover, although he instructed Zhang Qing to steal, the fields in Shangshi Village belong to the villagers. Shu Yu only has a purchasing agreement with the villagers. Essentially, this is a lawsuit between Old Master Qian and the villagers of Shangshi Village.”

If the Donggu County magistrate sides with Old Master Qian, he can easily downplay the situation. Treating it like a regular theft case, Old Master Qian might only face a small fine, and the amount would be very little.

Dazhuang’s expression changed, ”That’s basically nothing to Old Master Qian.”

Shu Yu squinted, ”Therefore, this matter can’t be reported to the county office; going to the government office would be best. But theft incidents in the county town wouldn’t alarm the magistrate. We need to make this issue as big as possible, and it has to be closely related to me. That way, I have a reason to get involved in this case.”
