The Ace Bigshot Becomes A Farmgirl

Chapter 1607: Chapter 1608: We Have a Secret Affair

The two of them gasped in shock and instinctively turned to run.

Fan Zhong subconsciously shouted, ”Catch them.”

Dazhuang, quick-eyed and quick-handed, grabbed Fourth Fan beside him and was the first to rush forward.

The others reacted and pounced forward, grabbing Ge Qifei, who had run a bit farther.

Both of them were brought before Fan Zhong just like that.

Fan Zhong looked at them in shock. He knew both of them: one was a girl from the village, the other was Lanhua’s former fiancé, Ge Qifei.

The issue of the Lu family breaking off the engagement with the Ge family was a huge scandal back then. Later, when the Ge family changed their minds, Ge Qifei would run to Shangshi Village every day, so naturally, Fan Zhong remembered him.

But what was happening now?

Why would a friend of Lanhua and Lanhua’s former fiancé sneak into the sunflower field?

Thinking of a possibility, Fan Zhong’s expression turned extremely unpleasant as he asked sternly, ”What exactly is going on with you two? Huh?”

”What else could it be?” Madam Liang, who had been watching everything from the start, spoke with bright eyes, gloating, ”A man and woman alone, taking advantage of everyone eating lunch and resting in broad daylight, running to a secluded, deserted sunflower field with disheveled clothes and flushed faces—what else could it be but a secret rendezvous affair?”

She just knew!! She knew there had to be some fun to watch here!!

Look at what she discovered: these two really had the guts, not even bothering with the little woods on the back hill, rushing impatiently into the sunflower field, using the tall sunflowers as cover for their illicit affair.

For some unknown reason, Madam Liang was a bit excited.

Hearing this, Fan Zhong’s face looked even worse, glaring at the two in front of him with disgust.

Xu Cai saw the cold light in the village chief’s eyes and hurriedly explained, ”No, you’ve misunderstood. We don’t have any relationship at all.”

”Then how do you explain both of you running out from the sunflower field in a hurry? Look at your clothes, what do they look like?”

Xu Cai looked down; indeed, her hair was messy, and her clothes were disheveled, but that was because she had just argued with Ge Qifei, pulling and pushing each other.

Later, when they heard footsteps, they ran out in panic, unable to tidy themselves up, and their faces were flushed and hot from running.

Dazhuang snickered next to them, ”Do you also need to explain why you suddenly ran into my family’s field? What did you want to do to my family’s land, or to the sunflowers? These sunflowers are ordered by Monarch Lu Xiang; did you damage them or... did something like poisoning?”

Ge Qifei, unwilling to admit it at first, immediately changed his expression when he heard that this could involve Monarch Lu Xiang.

He would rather admit to having an affair with Xu Cai and marry her than have Monarch Lu Xiang gouge his eyes and cut his tongue!!

Upon hearing Dazhuang’s words, he immediately confessed, ”No, we just wanted to find a private place to meet. I... I do have an affair with Xu Cai.”

Xu Cai looked at him in disbelief; she did want to be with Ge Qifei, but not like this. What about her reputation? Even if she married him as wished, how could she face the world afterward?

She immediately tried to explain, ”It’s not true, we didn’t do anything; we just happened to run into each other, I was just...”

But in her panic, she couldn’t think of any excuse to explain the current situation.

Her expression of wanting to speak but hesitating, with a mix of shame and anger, only confirmed Ge Qifei’s words.
