The Ace Bigshot Becomes A Farmgirl

Chapter 1621: Chapter 1621: Someone Snuck into the Sunflower Field to Steal Sunflower Seeds

Watching the group move further and further away until they disappeared completely, Shu Yu secretly let out a breath.

Hopefully, when chaos erupts on that side of Changjin Prefecture, it won’t spill over to Chenggu County where the Meng family is.

”Let’s go.”

Meng Yunzheng turned to her and said, and only then did Lanhua and the others, who had also come to see them off, turn back towards town.

Shu Yu first went to Lu’s Shop in the county town for a look around and then bought some things outside for Little Huohuo. Actually, the Lu family didn’t lack anything; before the child was born, the family had already prepared everything he would need.

But every time Shu Yu saw some cute little thing, she couldn’t help but want to bring it back.

By the time she returned to Fenghuai Street, both she and Ying Xi were already overloaded with large shopping bags.

Entering the front hall, she had just set down her things and was planning to take a rest when Ying Dong came over with Dazhuang, striding in.

Shu Yu was startled, seeing Dazhuang with a serious and indignant expression, she was a bit surprised, ”What happened?”

”Boss, someone has entered the sunflower field to steal sunflower seeds.”

Dazhuang’s words were shocking, and Shu Yu instantly froze. After a moment, she narrowed her eyes slightly, ”Steal sunflower seeds? Was the person caught?”

”Caught, but still held in Shangshi Village. The village chief asked me to hurry over and ask for your decision on how to deal with this person.”

”Tell me the details first. What kind of person is it, whose seeds did they steal, and have they confessed anything?”

Dazhuang quickly recounted the events in full detail.

Actually, this matter started when Xu Cai and Ge Qifei were caught having an affair. The last time Shu Yu went to Donggu County, she saw that someone had secretly planted sunflowers there and suspected that someone might have sold or stolen sunflower seeds.

Dazhuang, working in the workshop, was aware of this matter.

So when he returned, he told Daqiang to keep an eye on their sunflower field and reminded other villagers as well.

However, everyone only had limited energy, and the fields were scattered. Even if they wanted to keep a close watch, they were often powerless.

Who could have known that after Xu Cai’s incident, the villagers of Shangshi Village would find it ominous?

Especially those who had sunflower fields. They often worried, fearing their fields might also become a place for others to have trysts. It’s one thing for people to have trysts, but if they accidentally damage the sunflowers, what then?

In Daqiang’s field, indeed, two sunflowers were broken when those two people ran off, causing the Lin family much grief, but the Xu and Ge families agreed to compensate.

But this was only because the two having an affair were caught. What if they weren’t caught? Then their family would suffer a loss for nothing.

So as the sunflowers were nearing maturity, the villagers who had planted sunflowers began patrolling more diligently, occasionally checking on the fields at night.

As for the villagers who hadn’t planted sunflowers, although they disapproved of the infidelity, they couldn’t help but harbor a secret curiosity. Whenever they passed by a sunflower field, they would think of the incident. Then... they would slow down, quietly looking inward, almost wishing they could poke a hole through the thick sunflower stalks to see how many pairs of illicit lovers might be inside.

Anyway, they had plenty of excuses to linger there for a long time—it wouldn’t be long before they planned to plant sunflowers themselves, so observing the characteristics and growth rates of sunflowers in advance seemed quite necessary, didn’t it?

As a result, the entire Shangshi Village became like a community on watch, with sunflower fields being closely monitored like prized possessions.

And with all this watching, of course, a problem was bound to be noticed.
