The Ace Bigshot Becomes A Farmgirl

Chapter 1613: Chapter 1613: The Two Families Prepare for Marriage

When they heard the name Xu Cai, the old lady and Shu Yu exchanged a glance.

”Did they resolve that matter?”

Lanhua paused, ”You both know?” She reconsidered, how could they not know?

The place where Xu Cai and Ge Qifei met was right in the Lin family’s sunflower field, and it was Dazhuang who caught them personally. On that day, both Shu Yu and the old lady were in Shangshi Village, Dazhuang might hide it from others, but he would certainly tell Sister Yu.

She suddenly remembered that on the day of moving the dowry, the old lady originally asked her about Xu Cai’s whereabouts, but was just pulled away by the third aunt.

Since then, she never mentioned Xu Cai’s name.

At the time, Lanhua breathed a sigh of relief, and later there were so many things about the wedding, she was mentally confused, always tense, and didn’t pay much attention to any anomalies.

Looking back now, it seems they didn’t want to affect her mood, so they didn’t tell her.

Thinking of this, Lanhua smiled bitterly, Xu Cai was her once best friend, but ended up silently hooking up with her former fiancé.

Clearly because of the cancellation of the engagement by the Ge family, they both were so angry that they bitterly scolded Ge Qifei.

Thinking back now, when she was scolding, Xu Cai was probably inwardly hating her to death.

Yu Fenglin patted her back and offered her a cup of tea, quietly comforting her.

Lanhua looked up and smiled, ”I’m fine.”

It’s all in the past. In fact, she and Xu Cai had less contact in the last two years, plus her broader experiences, the distance between them has naturally widened, even when occasionally meeting, they often had nothing to say.

Later, Xu Cai openly tried to stir things up between her and Shu Yu, making Lanhua suddenly realize that their thoughts and the paths they would take in the future have diverged, no longer like when they were children.

She was somewhat hurt, but not to a severe extent.

Now, when these matters are mentioned again, Lanhua can only sigh, ”I just found out about their situation yesterday when I went back home, and it has already created quite a stir in the village. I heard from my parents that both the Xu family and the Ge family said they knew about the two meeting, and they had plans for a marriage alliance from the beginning.”

Even a child wouldn’t believe this talk.

If that were true, why sneak off to the sunflower field? Even if engaged, the disheveled appearance of the two coming out of the field is equally shameful.

Moreover, a few days ago, there were rumors from the Xu family about wanting to discuss marriage with Daqiang from the Lin family.

Changed their mind in just a few days?

With Ge Qifei’s character, most of Shangshi Village knows he once pathetically waited at the Lu family’s door hoping to see Lanhua. Turned around and secretly connected with Lanhua’s friend? Xu Cai too, shameless and foolish.

But no matter what, even if everyone knew the truth, both families had to cover it up with a pretense.

At this point, unless they marry, finding someone else in the future would be difficult.

Thus, in a mood of one being pleased but frustrated, the other unwilling but helpless, both families began discussing marriage.

However, on the day of the discussion, another uproar occurred.

The Ge family didn’t want to give much in terms of a dowry. For a girl who was no longer a virgin, they were already dissatisfied, seeing the son not that keen on marrying, the dowry would likely not be high, the Ge family even considered not giving any dowry, quietly welcoming her into the house, all without the need for a banquet.
