This Doctor Is Too Wealthy

After performing pulse diagnosis on both wrists, Du Heng’s expression became serious.

Du Heng’s serious expression also made the patient before him extremely anxious; she had been quite intimidated by the impressive string of titles Gao Qin had used in her introduction.

”Doctor, am I really in trouble?”

Du Heng slowly withdrew his pulse-taking hand and said to the woman, ”Your Chong and Ren channels are obstructed. The Chong channel originates from the uterus and descends to the Huiyin acupoint. You also show signs of Qi stagnation and blood stasis. Therefore, this indicates an accumulation of cold dampness and obstruction in your uterus.”

The woman blinked her large eyes. ”What does that mean?”

”It means you have accumulations in your uterus. These accumulations are lumps.”

”Lumps?” The woman trembled. ”You mean tumors?”

”You could say that,” Du Heng nodded. ”I suggest you get a check-up.”

The woman looked dumbfounded. She turned to exchange a glance with the woman holding the child behind her, their eyes filled with disbelief.

She then turned back to Du Heng. ”That’s impossible. Just half a year ago, I had a premarital examination at your hospital. It was a full-body check-up, and you didn’t find anything back then.”

Du Heng’s brow furrowed. ”Is that true?”

The woman glared. ”Why would I lie to you? It was done right here at your hospital.”

Du Heng and Gao Qin exchanged a glance, their hearts tightening.

If this was true, there were two possible outcomes.

First, their hospital had made a mistake and hadn’t found the problem earlier. The downside was they would have to compensate the woman. The upside was that the woman’s potential tumor was slow-growing and benign, like other uterine fibroids.

Second, their hospital was not at fault, and the woman’s condition had developed only in the last half-year. The upside here was that they wouldn’t have to pay compensation. The downside, however, was that this woman might have an extremely rare malignant uterine fibroid.

Having understood this, Gao Qin immediately picked up the phone and called the Premarital Examination Department. She explained the things that had occurred and provided the patient’s name and the time of her medical examination.

After five minutes, they managed to retrieve the woman’s personnel file, which contained all the materials from her medical examination at the time, including her complete gynecology check-up.

The good news was that the Premarital Examination Department’s check-up result at the time had been correct. The bad news was that the woman’s current condition, marked by continuous and unrelenting bleeding, had developed in just half a year.

This was based on the longest possible timeframe estimated.

Gao Qin called the woman over. Pointing to the materials sent by the Premarital Examination Department, she explained them to the woman item by item, and then re-explained her current situation.

As Gao Qin explained, the woman’s face grew increasingly pale. Finally, unable to hold back any longer, she turned, hugged the woman beside her, and burst into tears. ”Sister-in-law, what am I going to do?”

The woman’s sobs immediately caused the child in her arms to cry as well. For a moment, a duet of wailing filled the consultation room, making everyone’s ears ring.

Gao Qin and the woman’s sister-in-law spent a long time consoling her before she finally stopped crying. At the same time, she agreed to undergo the check-up and was surprisingly proactive about it.

Watching the woman and her sister-in-law leave, Gao Qin sighed. ”I suspected it might be uterine fibroids then, but I wasn’t sure. If I had told her, she wouldn’t have believed me and would have accused us of deliberately trying to get more money from her.”

”Sigh, it’s still your titles that are effective, Dean. You just said a few words, and she immediately believed it.”

Du Heng also shook his head with a wry smile. Given that woman’s attitude just now, if not for the weight of my titles, I really wouldn’t have been able to convince her today. She would probably just think the hospital was trying to overcharge her.

After sighing over the matter for a moment, Du Heng took the opportunity to discuss his views and plans for the integration of the Gynecology Department with Gao Qin.

”Dean, the images have been transmitted,” Gao Qin suddenly said, waving him over.

Du Heng quickly walked over to Gao Qin’s side, and they both looked at the images on the computer screen.

At first glance, they both drew a sharp breath.

”Only half a year, and it’s grown so fast?” Gao Qin couldn’t help but exclaim in surprise.

Du Heng also gritted his teeth as he looked.

”Dean, this will require a biopsy, won’t it?”

”Do it. The probability of it being malignant is very high,” Du Heng sighed.

Gao Qin looked at the computer screen again, then turned to Du Heng and asked, ”Is conservative treatment an option for this?”

Du Heng didn’t answer immediately. He recalled the results of his earlier pulse diagnosis while carefully studying the images on the computer.

After a moment, he said, ”The risk is significant. Her tumor is malignant and growing rapidly, more problematic than Feng Su’s case. Therefore, the medication would need to be much stronger and more aggressive.”

”And medication acting directly on the uterus would very likely affect her fertility.”

Du Heng frowned slightly, paused for a moment, then said, ”Let’s opt for surgery. The surgical procedures for uterine fibroids are quite mature now.”

But Gao Qin shook her head. ”Dean, the location of this tumor is even more troublesome than Feng Su’s. Its growth is in a particularly tricky position. And since it’s malignant, a complete removal would be the only option if we operate.”

”A hysterectomy is necessary?” Du Heng’s frown deepened. This was not good news.

Gao Qin nodded slowly. ”Based on what these images show and my experience, that would be the best course of action. However, the final decision will still depend on the biopsy results.”

Du Heng straightened up and exhaled heavily. ”Alright, you discuss the specifics with the patient. I won’t get involved further. If it’s surgery, arrange it as soon as possible. If she opts for conservative treatment, then you inform me.”
