This Doctor Is Too Wealthy

Du Heng calmly accepted Wu Shengnan’s praise, because those were his genuine thoughts.

”The second reason is that I’ve suddenly developed an interest in this illness,” Du Heng said slowly, a gleam in his eye. ”Yin deficiency and yang deficiency are rare, but I have encountered a few cases.

But this is the first time I’ve seen Yin and Yang double deficiency.

And I have never heard of a case where Yin and Yang double deficiency caused mental illness, like in Guan Bo’s situation.

So, my hands are itching to try; I can’t help it.”

Wu Shengnan shook her head, laughing. ”I don’t think your hands are itching; I think you’re itching to use your skills. You just want to show off.”

Du Heng smiled at Wu Shengnan’s teasing and let it pass, continuing, ”The third reason is one I can only tell you, no one else.”

Wu Shengnan immediately became interested. She leaned forward and said, ”Tell me.”

”What do you think is the relationship between Guan Bo and me?” Du Heng asked, but without giving Wu Shengnan a chance to answer, he continued, ”He’s my opponent, someone I was supposed to compete with.

Now, the competition is canceled due to his sudden illness. But the fact that he’s gained fame by riding on my coattails is already a done deal; he’s famous.

How could I just let him off the hook like that? There’s no such thing as a free lunch, right?

Tell me, if I cure him now, doesn’t that prove I’m better than him, and he’s still my defeated opponent?

Plus, I’ll earn a reputation for being magnanimous. Why wouldn’t I do it?”

With that, Du Heng smirked. ”Now that I’m saving him, when he wakes up, will he thank me or still want to compete with me?

I’m really looking forward to seeing Guan Bo’s expression when he wakes up and realizes I was the one who saved him.”

Wu Shengnan laughed as well. ”Those reasons are too childish. You really shouldn’t tell anyone else.”

”But won’t it be satisfying to see Guan Bo’s face then?”

”I imagine Doctor Guan will be so frustrated he could die.”

”He deserves to die of frustration! If it weren’t for him, we could have gone out and had fun today. Why are we stuck in the hospital, suffering like this?”

Wu Shengnan slapped Du Heng’s thigh irritably. ”Alright, alright. I think you quite enjoy this situation. And there’s no need to beat around the bush; I’m not angry.

We’re out to have fun, so it’s the same wherever we are. It’s just that other people visit scenic spots, while I visit famous hospitals. Not much difference.”

Du Heng was so embarrassed he was lost for words; Wu Shengnan had ruthlessly exposed his little calculations.

However, Wu Shengnan seemed to have grown accustomed to it and had come to terms with it, so she didn’t say much about Du Heng staying at the hospital this time.

A short while later, Wang Qingpeng returned. He appeared before Du Heng again, and they went together to check Guan Bo’s reaction to the medicine, and then to see the volunteers.

As they were leaving, Wu Shengnan called out to Du Heng, ”Honey, you go handle your business. I’m going to find Qinqin and the others. Being with you is too boring.”

Du Heng nodded sheepishly, waved goodbye to Wu Shengnan, and then happily went to the hospital room with Wang Qingpeng.

Wang Qingpeng smiled. ”Doctor Du, your wife is really something, accompanying you all this way to the hospital.”

Du Heng naturally accepted such praise, chuckling. ”That’s right. Truth be told, I’m just lucky to have met such a good girl.”

Wang Qingpeng also laughed. ”I’m envious.”

Indeed, after they started praising each other’s wives, their relationship grew much closer. They chatted all the way to Guan Bo’s hospital room.

”Doctor Du, shall we administer the medicine now?”

”Feed him.”

Wang Qingpeng didn’t delay. He and the nurse immediately worked together to feed the Decoction medicine to Guan Bo.

After observing for three or four minutes, Guan Bo showed no significant reaction. It just seemed he was sleeping more soundly, his breathing had become more rhythmic, and his entire body was very relaxed.

”TSK TSK, Doctor Du, this medicine! Not to mention whether it can cure this madness, just its effect of relieving uneasiness of mind alone is enough to make Xiao Guan much more comfortable.”

”A divided soul injures the spirit. To achieve mental clarity, one must first relieve uneasiness of mind and nourish the brain, and deep sleep is the best way to do that,” Du Heng also sighed lightly. ”In fact, deep sleep can help repair and alleviate all sorts of mental problems by soothing tense nerves.

As long as a person is well-rested, their mental state will be more stable, their mood will improve, and they’ll be less susceptible to external emotional disturbances.”

Wang Qingpeng nodded in agreement. ”That’s true indeed, and it’s a well-understood principle. Not only do doctors know this, but patients themselves are often aware of it too.

However, one of the most direct harms caused by mental problems is poor sleep. Sometimes, if the mind doesn’t completely exhaust its energy, the brain remains in a hyperactive state, making sleep impossible.

And whether it’s a good or bad relieving uneasiness of mind medicine, if it’s a Western medicine, it tends to cause drug resistance. The larger the dose, the more likely it is to cause secondary harm. For Chinese herbal medicine, those with a single effect aren’t very effective. Those with a compound effect are better and don’t cause drug resistance, but they need to be tailored to the individual and often miss the mark.”

As he spoke, Wang Qingpeng sighed. ”SIGH. To put it bluntly, it’s still due to our lack of skill. If I had Doctor Du’s ability to prescribe, none of these problems I mentioned would exist.”

Du Heng didn’t know how to respond to that, so he changed the subject. ”Natarax is still active in Doctor Guan’s system, and now there’s also the relieving uneasiness of mind medicine I prescribed. He won’t wake up for a while. How about we go check on those volunteers Doctor Guan found?”
