This Doctor Is Too Wealthy

My goodness, has Du Heng become so arrogant? How dare he say in front of so many people that Director Zhuo is blind? Is he not afraid of being slapped to death by Director Zhuo?

But after their initial worry for Du Heng, Doctor Zheng and the Director were dumbfounded. This was blatant slander—when had they ever said such a thing?

Zhuo Mingde couldn’t really control them directly, but their hospital’s Chinese Medicine Department was under his purview. If Zhuo Mingde really believed Du Heng’s words and focused on taking action against their hospital’s Chinese Medicine Department, they could foresee being torn apart by their colleagues in the department and the hospital leaders.

The Director immediately said, ”President Du, you misunderstand. We’ve never had such thoughts. Xiao Zheng, hurry up and apologize to President Du.”

But Du Heng simply raised his hand to stop him. ”No need. I wouldn’t dare accept.”

Then he looked at Doctor Zheng seriously and asked, ”Do you know me as well?”

Doctor Zheng’s face flushed red with embarrassment, but he still nodded. ”An internet celebrity with 10 million fans, constantly in the news, known as the Divine Doctor Du Demigod—how could I not recognize you?”

”Have I offended you?”

”No.”

Du Heng pointed to Gong Daoyang. ”Did Brother Gong offend you?”

Doctor Zheng’s eyes widened as he glared at Du Heng. This kid is despicable, deliberately digging a pit for me! ”What do you mean? What does our dispute have to do with the patient?”

Du Heng stared at Doctor Zheng and said, ”Since you know me, you must be aware of my skill level. Yet, regardless of my capacity, when I tried to discuss the patient’s condition with you, you flatly refused. Don’t you think you owe an explanation to the patient and his family?”

”Why should I discuss it with you? Just because of those videos you have online? Who knows if they’re faked,” Doctor Zheng said stubbornly, craning his neck.

Seeing Doctor Zheng’s attitude, Du Heng once again lost the desire to continue the conversation, even though he knew this wasn’t their true reason. Whether they looked down on traditional Chinese medicine or on him personally, he no longer had any desire to probe further; it was meaningless.

At this moment, Liu Gong also came in. ”Du, all of Director Gong’s fees have been settled, but without the attending doctor’s consent, he can’t be discharged yet.”

Du Heng shook his head. ”Never mind. They’ll handle the discharge. Besides, they still owe Brother Gong an explanation for why he couldn’t receive traditional Chinese medicine treatment.”

Speaking, he looked at Doctor Zheng. ”I hope you won’t use the excuse, ’It’s your patient, you call the shots,’ because you don’t get to call all the shots. A patient can accept your treatment, or they can refuse it. Patients have the right to choose their course of treatment.”

After saying that, he and Wang Zhenzhen flanked Gong Daoyang, helping the dazed man to his feet.

Du Heng was right. A patient has the right to be informed about any treatment a doctor proposes and the right to accept or refuse it. Similarly, they have the right to be discharged and refuse further treatment from that hospital.

But could they be allowed to leave now? If they left, it wouldn’t just be a simple matter of service quality; it could escalate into a medical accident. And with an expert like Du Heng present, letting them go was even more out of the question.

The Director hurriedly stopped them. ”President Du, you can’t leave.”

Du Heng’s eyes flickered as he looked at the Director. ”Oh? So, just like there are forced sales in business, hospitals now force treatment on people? If we don’t want your treatment, we’re not allowed to leave?”

Hearing Du Heng’s mocking words, the Director hurriedly took a step back.

The Department Director’s retreat, however, gave Doctor Zheng an opening. ”Du Heng, if the patient leaves now and anything happens, you will be fully responsible!”

”That’s none of your concern. Let us pass.”

Du Heng directly supported Gong Daoyang as they walked past them.

The Director glared at Doctor Zheng, then hurriedly said, ”President Du, let’s discuss the cooperation again.”

Du Heng didn’t even turn his head. ”There’s nothing to discuss.”

Watching Du Heng’s resolute departure, the Director turned back and glared fiercely at Doctor Zheng again. ”Look at the mess you’ve made! You’d better think carefully about how you’re going to explain this.”

After saying that, he skipped his ward round and went straight back to his office without a backward glance.

What on earth? Doctor Zheng was dumbfounded. When I was speaking earlier, I didn’t see you trying to stop me!

But no matter how unwilling he was, he hadn’t anticipated Du Heng’s blatant disregard for his dignity, nor this direct confrontation. This sudden turn of events was something he hadn’t foreseen at all.

Du Heng left, the patient left, and the surrounding medical staff who had been watching the commotion glanced at the stupefied Doctor Zheng before also dispersing.

Wang Zhenzhen’s relatives, also flustered, gathered her remaining belongings and left as well.

They were all feeling quite stunned now; they hadn’t expected that young man to be so formidable. Dean, 10 million fans, awards... all of it sounded like incredibly impressive titles. Thinking about what they had said in front of Du Heng just now, they felt utterly ashamed and didn’t even dare to meet his gaze. It was too humiliating.

”Do you guys think that young man is really that amazing?”

”Yeah, it’s like something out of a play—a dean and an internet celebrity.”

”It’s what that director said. I think it must be true.”

”But he just said he’s only thirty. That’s too much. And he’s a traditional Chinese medicine practitioner.”

”Sigh, perhaps some people are just born gifted, spoon-fed by fate, unlike ordinary folks.”

”Forget it, let’s not dwell on him. As long as Daoyang gets better, it doesn’t matter if it’s traditional Chinese medicine or Western medicine, or if the doctor is old or young.”

As they spoke, the group had already exited the hospitalization department building.

Once Gong Daoyang was exposed to the noisy environment outside, his emotions began to fluctuate. He started mumbling again, and it was impossible to understand what he was saying.

”Xiao Heng, what should we do?” Wang Zhenzhen looked at the rambling Gong Daoyang, her eyes full of worry.

Du Heng also frowned at Gong Daoyang. After a moment’s thought, he said, ”Let’s wait here in the hospitalization department. Our hospital isn’t far, and the ambulance will be here soon.”

With that, the two of them helped Gong Daoyang back to the first floor of the hospitalization department.

The wait was difficult for everyone. Gong Daoyang’s legs were stiff, making it hard for him to stand or walk for long. Just the short distance from upstairs had made his legs somewhat unresponsive. Now, having to stand and wait, his body felt weak, and he kept slumping.

Fortunately, Liu Gong took over from Wang Zhenzhen, and together with Du Heng, they supported Gong Daoyang from both sides until the ambulance arrived.

Upon arriving at the hospital, Du Heng didn’t bother with pleasantries. He arranged for Gong Daoyang to be admitted to a hospital room in the integrated Chinese Medicine Department. Without even changing his clothes, Du Heng immediately began another diagnostic examination of Gong Daoyang.

The results of this diagnosis were no different from the previous night: excessive Heat in his Heart, with Phlegm Turbidity obscuring his Heart orifices. Therefore, clearing Heat and expelling Phlegm would suffice.

He immediately called Doctor Ma, wrote out the prescription and dosage for the Mica Grit Expectoration Pill, and then added calamus, curcuma, and musk as additional medicine ingredients.

Calamus can dispel foulness and open the orifices, promote qi circulation, and expel phlegm.

Curcuma is used for its properties of promoting qi circulation and cooling blood, thereby accelerating the Heat-reducing effect of the Mica Grit Expectoration Pill.

Lastly, musk was added to repair the damage caused by cerebral hypoxia. Du Heng particularly favored using this medicine ingredient when treating brain conditions, mainly because its effects were excellent.

Looking at the prescription, my only regret is that our hospital can’t obtain bamboo dew. If I could utilize its effects of clearing Lungs and reducing Fire, sliding phlegm, and freeing the orifices, this medication would undoubtedly be even more potent.

However, given the limited conditions, there was nothing he could do. He handed the prescription to Doctor Ma and instructed him on the medicine decoction process.

Doctor Ma had assisted Du Heng many times before. While previous prescriptions often had large dosages, they were still within an understandable and acceptable range.

But looking at the current prescription, he couldn’t help but be astonished. The dosages for some medicine ingredients were unchanged, but for others, they were three or even four times what he recognized as standard.

With these dosages, I really don’t have the confidence to dispense this to the patient. I’m genuinely anxious.
