This Doctor Is Too Wealthy

Staring at Du Heng for quite a while, Guan Bo’s eyes suddenly lit up. ”Du Heng?”

Guan Bo’s mother grew emotional and hurriedly approached him, saying, ”Child, it was Doctor Du who treated you. If it weren’t for Doctor Du, you would have been sent to a mental hospital.”

Guan Bo reacted slowly; it took three or four seconds for him to understand what his mother meant. When he finally did, a hint of embarrassment and a touch of shame flickered in his eyes, and his usually listless expression turned unnatural.

After a long pause, Guan Bo whispered, ”Thank you.”

Seeing Guan Bo’s appearance and hearing the words of gratitude, Du Heng felt a secret thrill of satisfaction.

However, Du Heng didn’t show it and simply maintained his smile, saying softly, ”Your body and mind are both very weak right now. You need to recuperate properly.”

Turning to Guan Bo’s parents, he continued, ”Uncle and Auntie, please don’t worry. This is a normal reaction. He’s just woken up, and his mind hasn’t quite caught up. Let Doctor Guan get a good night’s sleep. Once his mental state improves tomorrow, we can address his other issues.”

Guan Bo’s parents visibly relaxed and slowly moved away, wanting to give Guan Bo a quiet environment to rest. Du Heng and Wang Qingpeng also walked towards the exit, but before they could reach the door, it was pushed open once again.

Turning around, they saw Zhang Dewen, supported by his junior, an excited expression on his face as he walked in.

Upon seeing Du Heng, Zhang Dewen asked anxiously, ”Doctor Du, how is Xiao Guan?”

”He’s fine now, just a bit mentally weak. He still needs proper care and rest.”

”That’s good, that’s good. Once Xiao Guan recovers, he must thank you properly.”

Du Heng stepped aside and said humbly, ”You’re too kind, Sir Zhang. This is just what a doctor should do.”

Zhang Dewen laughed and patted Du Heng’s shoulder without saying anything more. Supported by his junior, he slowly walked over to Guan Bo.

”Xiao Guan?” Zhang Dewen’s voice was very gentle, revealing his deep concern for Guan Bo.

On the sick bed, Guan Bo slowly opened his eyes. Looking at the old man and the junior before him, he seemed dazed for another moment. It took a few seconds before he called out, ”Teacher.”

Zhang Dewen broke into a wide smile at the word ”Teacher” and repeatedly said, ”Good, good, good.”

After several ”goods,” his emotions gradually calmed. ”It’s good that you’re awake. Listen carefully to Doctor Du’s instructions and rest well. Don’t worry about anything else; I’ve already taken care of everything for you.”

”Thank you, Teacher, for your concern.”

”Alright, rest well. I’ll come to see you tomorrow.”

The old man was overjoyed. As he turned to leave, his steps were noticeably lighter.

Seeing that the old man had finished speaking, the junior approached Guan Bo and said with a smile, ”Guan, just focus on resting. I’ll take good care of Teacher. Don’t worry, I’ve got everything covered.”

It would have been better if the junior hadn’t spoken. The moment he did, Guan Bo’s emotions surged.

Just moments before, he had been so exhausted he could barely lift his eyelids. But upon hearing the junior’s voice, Guan Bo shot up from the sick bed with a SWOOSH.

Instantly, he became extremely agitated. His eyes were wide with anger, and veins bulged on his forehead. His breathing became very rapid. If one looked closely, they would even see Guan Bo’s lips trembling slightly.

Startled by Guan Bo’s sudden action, the junior involuntarily recoiled, his face filled with terror as he looked at the suddenly enraged Guan Bo.

He stammered, ”G-Guan… Guan, what’s…what’s wrong with you?”

Sitting bolt upright, Guan Bo glared at the junior, his finger trembling as he pointed and said, ”Despicable! You villain! I trusted you so much, yet you… UGH… UGH…”

He didn’t finish speaking before UGH UGH sounds began to escape his throat, and his already sallow complexion turned deathly white.

Furthermore, Guan Bo’s neck stretched, his chin tilted sharply upwards, and then his eyes rolled back before he collapsed onto the sick bed with a PLOP.

”Son!”

”Xiao Guan!”

The hospital room descended into chaos, cries of alarm echoing as everyone called out names anxiously.

This sudden turn of events startled Du Heng as well. Good heavens, Guan Bo was already exhausted and mentally unstable. This outburst could send him right back to his previous dissociated state, and this time, it might be irreversible!

Du Heng and Wang Qingpeng hurriedly stepped forward and gently but firmly pulled Guan Bo’s parents and Zhang Dewen aside.

Given the situation, neither Guan Bo’s parents nor Zhang Dewen could offer any help. It wasn’t just a question of whether the old man possessed the necessary skills; his deep concern made him flustered. Moreover, at his age, he struggled to maintain his own composure, let alone assist in an emergency. He understood his limitations and willingly stepped back, giving Du Heng and Wang Qingpeng room to work, watching them nervously from behind.

Du Heng was also extremely anxious. He’d just managed to bring the patient around! He was hoping to gain some experience from studying this disease record, identify any areas for improvement in the treatment, and then this happens! For a moment, he checked Guan Bo’s eyelids and felt his pulse.

After a flurry of checks, Du Heng finally breathed a sigh of relief. ”He’s alright. He just held his breath until he fainted. However, from now on, do not disturb Doctor Guan anymore.”

Du Heng said this while looking pointedly at Wang Qingpeng. After all, Guan Bo was officially Wang Qingpeng’s patient now.

Wang Qingpeng understood immediately. As soon as Du Heng finished speaking, he began persuading Guan Bo’s parents to wait outside. The junior was also ushered out.

As for Zhang Dewen, Wang Qingpeng didn’t dare say anything. Zhang Dewen was extremely anxious, but he also knew that this was not his area of expertise. So, without waiting for Wang Qingpeng to ask, he discreetly left the hospital room.

Once everyone was out, Wang Qingpeng asked Du Heng, ”Doctor Du, I’m not familiar with this illness. You should handle it.”

Du Heng didn’t refuse, nodding directly. ”This time, just prescribe medication to relieve uneasiness of mind and nourish his spirit. Let Doctor Guan get a full night’s sleep. He’s only just regained consciousness; any strong emotional fluctuations will be too much for him to bear. So, Dr. Wang, you must pay close attention. Apart from his parents and Sir Zhang, don’t let anyone else in.”

Wang Qingpeng immediately pictured the junior and quickly nodded in agreement. But now, he was intensely curious. What on earth had the junior done to Guan Bo to provoke such an extreme reaction, to the point where Guan could get so agitated he’d pass out from holding his breath?

In fact, it wasn’t just Wang Qingpeng who was curious. Outside the hospital room, Guan Bo’s parents and Zhang Dewen were also burning with curiosity, all of them staring intently at the junior.

The junior felt his skin crawl under their intense stares, goosebumps erupting all over him.

He was utterly bewildered. Why was Guan reacting like this? In theory, Guan Bo shouldn’t know about any of his plans. No part of it had been leaked. Yet, judging by Guan’s reaction, it was as if he knew everything. Where did things go wrong?

Zhang Dewen took a deep breath and, fixing the junior with a stern gaze, asked, ”Can you explain what Xiao Guan meant by ’despicable’ and ’villain’ just now?”

The junior quickly replayed the events of the past few days in his mind but found no point where his plans could have been exposed. He immediately adopted a wronged expression and said, ”Teacher, I truly don’t know. You heard what I said just now; I didn’t say anything to provoke Guan. Besides, you know what’s been happening. I’ve been by your side these past few days. I genuinely don’t know how I could have offended Guan.”

Hearing the junior’s words, Zhang Dewen’s expression softened slightly. The junior quickly pressed his advantage, ”Is it possible that Guan just woke up, and his brain isn’t fully clear yet? Perhaps he mistook me for someone else?”
