This Doctor Is Too Wealthy

Du Heng took another look at Gong Daoyang, who was lying on the hospital bed, and whispered, ”Sis, let’s leave it at that for tonight. I’ll talk to the doctors here tomorrow morning.”

Wang Zhenzhen was very anxious, but she knew it was not the right time. She could only agree to Du Heng’s plan, ”Fine, I’ll listen to you.”

”Sis, I heard that you haven’t had a good rest these days. You should go home and have a good sleep tonight. I’ll help you watch over here.” Du Heng couldn’t help but comfort Wang Zhenzhen when he saw her haggard face.

However, Wang Zhenzhen shook her head firmly, then looked at Gong Daoyang and said softly, ”No need, you’ve been busy all day too. You should go home and rest. I can handle it. Moreover, if I go back now, my mother-in-law will be suspicious.”

She pointed to the companion chair next to her and said, ”Gong has been given a sedative. The doctor said he will be able to sleep well tonight. There’s a recliner here, so I can sleep on it for a while.”

Seeing Wang Zhenzhen’s determination, Du Heng didn’t insist further.

It was already late, so after comforting Wang Zhenzhen once more, Du Heng left the ward.

When he got home, Wu Shengnan didn’t go to bed first. Instead, she waited for Du Heng on the sofa after washing up.

”Honey, how is your friend?”

Du Heng was really tired. After changing into his slippers, he threw himself onto the sofa, stretching out his limbs.

Then he said weakly, ”Based on my diagnosis, there shouldn’t be a problem saving him.”

Wu Shengnan quickly brought some warm water for Du Heng to wash his feet. ”I just heated some water. Wash your feet and go to bed.” She then tried to help him take off his socks.

Initially, Du Heng was lazily lying on the sofa. When Wu Shengnan brought the foot bath, he didn’t react much. However, when he saw her trying to remove his socks and wash his feet, he immediately sat up.

He quickly retracted his feet and took off his socks himself. ”No, no, no, I can do it myself.”

Wu Shengnan looked at Du Heng, who was acting like a frightened rabbit, and laughed, ”What’s wrong with you?”

”Nothing, I’m just not used to being taken care of like this. It makes me feel uncomfortable.” While saying this, he put his feet in the warm water and hummed in satisfaction.

After humming a few times, Du Heng said to Wu Shengnan, ”Alright, baby, you go to bed first. You’ve been running around with me all day and have come all the way back from the east. You must be exhausted too.”

Wu Shengnan was indeed very tired. Hearing Du Heng’s words, she got up. ”Then you pour out the foot bath water yourself and go to bed early.”

”Alright, don’t worry about me, just go to sleep.”

After Wu Shengnan went into the bedroom, Du Heng lay comfortably on the sofa. However, after a few minutes, he took out his phone and made a call.

”Xiao Kang, are you asleep yet?”

”Dean, I haven’t slept yet. What’s up?”

”Have you finished all the paperwork for Luqi Hospital?”

A soft RUSTLE RUSTLE came from the other end of the phone, then Kang Zhirong said, ”It’s almost done. I just need to get a stamp tomorrow. Mr. Zhang Dewen said he was a bit disappointed that he didn’t have a good exchange with you.”

Listening to Kang Zhirong’s report, Du Heng also sighed softly with relief and said, ”When you go tomorrow, apologize to Mr. Zhang Dewen on my behalf. On second thought, just get Sir Zhang’s contact information. I’ll call him myself.”

”Alright, Dean, I’ll get it done tomorrow.” Kang Zhirong paused for a moment before continuing, ”Dean, Director He from Neurology came to see you today. He said he wanted to discuss a project with you. What should I do?”

Du Heng pondered for a moment.

He didn’t know what compromise Director He could come up with, but he couldn’t think of any aspect of his stroke treatment that could be related to Western medicine.

After thinking for a moment, he said, ”Tomorrow, when you go to handle the paperwork, please visit Director He and convey my regrets for my departure. If he still wants to discuss this matter, just listen to what he has to say. If it proves too difficult, call me, and I can talk to him. If Director He doesn’t bring it up, then we’ll just let it be.”

Hearing Du Heng’s instructions, Kang Zhirong hesitated for a moment and stammered, ”Dean, can I really handle that?”

”You’re my assistant, so why wouldn’t you be? Just go and handle it with confidence.”

”Alright, I’ll give it a try.” Kang Zhirong’s tone still lacked confidence.

Du Heng didn’t press the issue and changed the subject, saying, ”Once things at the hospital are settled, I’ll need you to make a trip to Green Island for me. I’ll send you an address. There’s a personal matter there I need your help with.”

”Alright, Dean, I understand. Just send me the address.”

After hanging up, Du Heng held his phone and thought quietly.

He was originally hiding out to avoid obligations, but now he had been suddenly called back. That meant he couldn’t avoid facing the integration of the teams any longer.

During this time, Du Heng had also had enough of the dilly-dallying over this matter. Since he was back, he didn’t plan to hesitate any longer.

He contemplated the troubles awaiting his return. He lingered until the foot bath water grew cold before finally tidying up and preparing for bed.

Early the next morning, Du Heng got up early to visit Gong Daoyang.

Just as he arrived, the hospital’s ward round had also just reached Gong Daoyang’s ward.

Looking at Gong Daoyang, who was sitting dazedly on the bed, the Director of Neurology at the Second Affiliated Hospital of JZU asked the attending Physician, ”Doctor Zheng, what is the subsequent treatment plan for this patient?”

”I’ve arranged a hyperbaric oxygen chamber treatment for him today. We’ll observe the recovery effect and then arrange further treatment based on the actual situation.”
