The Valued Lady is Truly Dominant

Chapter 687: Chapter 687: An Encounter on a Narrow Path

Regarding the ancient custom of mothers-in-law marrying off their nieces to their sons, Song Ci was not fond of it, but in ancient times, families valued close relations, so she merely watched without comment.

But even when marriages happened, they were generally between cousins, right? And Prince Min and that Miss Ji, are they her uncles?

Their family hierarchy is really confusing!

Those Imperial Censors who are so idle that they even want to submit a memorial over which concubine someone’s taking, haven’t they prepared a memorial to report Prince Min and Princess Consort Ji?

This is simply disregarding human ethics!

”The Ji Family has no bottom line in their pursuit of wealth and glory,” Princess Anping couldn’t stand the ways of the Ji Family.

You can accept a concubine if you want, even if she’s a girl from the family, but at least do it through the proper channels, bringing her in respectably—that’s what proper people do.

But what did the Ji Family do?

They sent her to the Prince Mansion, and she climbed the bed in no time. A dignified Concubine behaving like a lowly maid, it’s simply laughable.

No matter how impatient, one shouldn’t act like this because it’s losing virtue, and who would regard you highly?

An Imperial Concubine entering the household this way is truly a laughingstock.

Yet, the Ji Family believes they have gained immense wealth and glory, walking with an air, oblivious to others mocking their daughter as lowly behind their backs.

Song Ci detected the disdain and sarcasm in Princess Anping’s words and cooperatively added, ”Indeed, it shattered my worldview.”

After all, she’s a girl from Uncle’s Mansion, but acts just like a common girl from a house, tsk tsk.

Don’t the Ji Family know that very few men take those who present themselves seriously?

One who devalues oneself will be looked down upon by others!

”So, before Prince Min’s grand wedding, is Princess Consort Ji entering first?” Song Ci curiously asked.

Princess Anping shook her head, ”How could that be, a Concubine entering before the Official Wife, whose face does that slap? Prince Min Mansion wouldn’t dare, after all, it was a marriage bestowed by the Emperor! It’s said she will be brought into the mansion on the fifth day after the grand wedding.”

Song Ci was very disinterested.

Presumably, the Prince Min Mansion will be lively in the future, with both the Official Wife and many concubines gathered together, sure to cause a stir.

However, thinking about Prince Min himself, Song Ci always felt a sense of discord; he doesn’t seem like someone who would be captivated by beauty or let chaos run rampant in his house.

The more Song Ci thought, the more she felt out of place with the whole scenario.

”Madam?”

Song Ci snapped back to reality with the question.

”Have you enjoyed the tea, or shall we stroll a bit more? Didn’t we say we’d visit that foreign shop?” Princess Anping smiled as she spoke.

”Let’s go.”

She wanted to see what treasures she could find there to add some more merit.

Princess Anping invited Song Ci to ride in her carriage, making it convenient for them to talk on the way.

She enjoyed chatting leisurely with Song Ci. Even when discussing more sensitive topics, the latter was very discreet and refrained from probing too deeply.

Sense of propriety is not something everyone understands.

Both of them held immensely honored positions, so naturally guards and maids would go ahead to the foreign shop to give notice, preventing any unseeing eyes from colliding with them.

And any sensible Shopkeeper should know the rules of the capital, clearing and securing the premises in advance as a sign of respect and honor to such noble figures.

It’s just like those prestigious socialites of later generations sweeping through shops, a super diamond-grade VIP treatment.

Song Ci remarked that in the plots of traditional storybooks, they would surely encounter another group of equally noble people at the same shop, leading to a face-off.

Princess Anping chuckled, and before the carriage arrived at the foreign shop, upon seeing the carriage of Princess Consort Ji and others, she silently glanced at Song Ci.

Are you jinxed!
