The Valued Lady is Truly Dominant

Chapter 664: Chapter 664: On Madam Tai Being the Most Professional at Shifting Blame

Madam Song didn’t receive Song Zhiyuan, but instead, welcomed Song Ci and an old Imperial Physician. Song Ci explained to Lin Qing that Song Zhiyuan was worried, so he also asked the old Imperial Physician to come and take a pulse.

Lin Qing naturally had no objections.

As fellow doctors, pooling insights is the right approach.

The old Imperial Physician wasn’t shy. After taking the pulse, his white eyebrows furrowed, and he said, ”The Madam’s pulse beats like running pearls, yet it’s slightly weak. This suggests early pregnancy, but the fetus isn’t thriving, and the pulse is weak and stagnant, showing signs of potential miscarriage. Madam needs to take fetus-preserving measures.”

Madam Song felt a chill in her heart upon hearing this.

”Imperial Physician, this is the fetus-preserving prescription I drafted for the Madam. Please take a look to see if there’s anything to reduce or modify,” Lin Qing offered the prescription with both hands.

The old Imperial Physician took it, saying, ”I heard you’ve used acupuncture to stabilize the pregnancy. I felt the pulse, and it seems the fetus is gradually stabilizing. You should understand this woman’s pregnancy better than I do, so I won’t presume to show off my skills.”

He glanced at the prescription, nodded, and said to Madam Song, ”Doctor Lin’s prescription focuses on reviving the vitality, perfect for the Madam. With acupuncture and three months of bed rest, the pregnancy might be secured.”

Madam Song looked at Lin Qing with eyes full of reliance.

”Besides the fetus-preserving medicine, some medicinal diets like Ejiao and rice wine boiled eggs can be consumed daily. These nourish the blood and soothe the yin,” the old Imperial Physician stroked his white beard and said. ”Naturally, the most crucial aspect of preserving the fetus is keeping a relaxed and open mind. Worrying and overthinking will disturb your rest and appetite, and in this way, even the best medicine won’t help.”

Madam Song obediently nodded and agreed.

The old Imperial Physician explained a few more things, having nothing left to say, and started packing up his medicine box while asking Lin Qing about the reasons for cleaning and disinfecting wounds to prevent tetanus.

Lin Qing looked baffled, ”What on earth is that?”

The old Imperial Physician explained it.

Lin Qing silently looked at a certain Madam passing the buck, kindly refraining from exposing her and instead followed the Imperial Physician’s words, saying a few things and taking the opportunity to ask some professional questions.

The two chatted, seemingly like old acquaintances meeting for the first time, moving from the inner room to the outside.

Song Zhiyuan entered at this time, and Madam Song’s eyes brightened upon seeing him, struggling to sit up.

Nanny Fang hurriedly supported her, placed a cushion behind her, and stepped aside.

”Prime Minister, are you really okay?” Madam Song spoke, and tears immediately rolled down.

”Don’t cry, I’m fine here talking to you, nothing’s wrong,” Song Zhiyuan reached out to wipe her tears.

Song Ci, force-fed with their lovey-dovey exchange, found it too much and quietly retreated outside.

Nearby, the joyful voice of the astute son came, ”This is a blessing, not a misfortune. Heaven has destined me for this ordeal, yet granted me another son. I gladly accept it.”

Madam Song scolded softly, ”What nonsense are you saying? No one is more important than you...”

Song Ci shivered, quickly leaving. It was overwhelmingly sweet; she couldn’t handle it.

Outside the bedroom, Lin Qing was seeing the old Imperial Physician off. She turned and saw Song Ci, raising an eyebrow involuntarily.

”Madam, I have a question. I wonder if it’s appropriate to ask?”

Song Ci immediately replied, ”If it’s inappropriate, then don’t ask. This morning’s busy and nerve-wracking chaos has left my stomach empty. Miss Qing, why don’t we go enjoy some noodles to pay tribute to our poor stomachs?”

Lin Qing: ”...”

She smiled in speechless amusement, realizing where the buck-passing came from.
