The Valued Lady is Truly Dominant

Chapter 661: Chapter 661: When a Big White Floats

What does it mean for one’s mood to be like a roller coaster? Madam Song understood. If she were from modern times, she’d feel as dizzy as though she’d just ridden a ten-loop roller coaster.

Upon hearing that the Prime Minister was assassinated, her heart wrenched, and she collapsed to the ground. When she awoke and heard he was unharmed, before she could fully exhale in relief, she was informed she was pregnant.

After over a year of conditioning, facing disappointment every month, watching another year slip by, and with the time she arranged with Song Zhiyuan approaching, she was about to give up when suddenly told she was expecting.

Yet, not long after her daughter miscarried and lost her child, she became pregnant. What kind of fate was this?

However, before she could rejoice, she was doused with a bucket of ice water, chilling her to the bone; this pregnancy was unstable and might not last.

Madam Song was terribly anxious; after all the anticipation, it turned out to be so precarious?

Terrified, she nearly knelt before Lin Qing, begging her to help preserve the pregnancy.

If Song Ci hadn’t said it wasn’t suitable for her to move about and advised her to stay in bed, perhaps she would have knelt.

As Lin Qing administered acupuncture, she consoled: ”At your age, conceiving is no easy feat. It’s vital to remain emotionally unburdened, as distress is detrimental to fetal care. I’ll perform acupuncture daily, and you must take the fetus-preserving medicine for several months. Whether you can carry this child to term, we’ll leave it to the heavens, shall we?”

Madam Song dared not object, nodding vigorously like a pecking hen: ”I’ll do as you say.”

Watching from the side, Song Ci thought, only at this time could one see Madam Gu so obedient, like a child—indeed, offspring were her Achilles’ heel.

Look, Song Zhiyuan’s injury was set aside.

Regardless, adding a family member was a joyous event, something to be celebrated.

Seeing her calm down, Song Ci said, ”Since you’ll need to stay in bed for the next few months to preserve your pregnancy, temporarily hand over the household affairs to Madam Jiang and Madam Lu. I believe they can handle things independently. Together, they can manage the household for you. Once it’s convenient for you, you can take over again.”

Madam Song, feeling a bit embarrassed, replied, ”Even if Mother hadn’t mentioned it, I was going to ask you and my two sisters-in-law to manage things.”

Song Ci glared: ”At my age, with my old bones, I won’t manage. Madam Jiang and the others can.”

”Then I can only trouble them,” Madam Song said with a smile.

On her way back to the main courtyard, Madam Jiang sneezed twice and clutched her cloak tighter, sensing an ominous premonition.

Indeed, upon reaching Madam Song’s chamber, she heard two pieces of news.

Eldest Sister-in-law was expecting; a cause for celebration, let’s have a drink!

Eldest Sister-in-law needed to preserve her pregnancy, and she and Madam Lu would temporarily manage the household affairs.

Madam Jiang: ”...”

Can I refuse?

She just wanted to be a carefree lady every day.

Thinking about the upcoming year-end, a time brimming with tasks, this vast mansion, social interactions and such... Oh heavens, her head ached!

The main courtyard’s announcement that the Madam was expecting was like a strong stimulant injected into the Prime Minister’s Mansion, rendering the Prime Minister’s injury a trivial matter.

As Song Zhiyuan was escorted back to the mansion protected by guards, a cheerful gatekeeper quickly greeted him with clasped hands.

”Congratulations, Prime Minister! Congratulations, Prime Minister! The Madam is expecting!”

Song Zhiyuan’s face darkened, almost ordering the man to be dragged off and given a thorough spanking. Congratulating him for being assassinated? Is he seeking death?

Oh, no matter... the Madam is expecting, after all...

Expecting?

Song Zhiyuan blinked. His legs steadied, his hand no longer hurt, and he quickly dashed toward the main courtyard.

Song Zhicheng had just dragged back an Imperial Physician. Seeing this, he slung the person over his shoulder and hurriedly followed.

Certain Imperial Physician: Someone please save these old bones of mine; I’ll fall apart with another jolt!
