The Valued Lady is Truly Dominant

Chapter 654: Chapter 654: Consorts Clash: Worrying About Nothing

Madam Song dragged her exhausted body back to the mansion, barely eating a few bites of dinner, and then sat in a daze on the Arhat bed in the main room, thinking of her poor granddaughter, she once again shed a few tears.

Song Zhiyuan walked in, kicked off his shoes, and sat on the kang bed, asking, ”How is Qi’er?”

At this question, Madam Song’s tears started to flow, and she recounted: ”... She has grown so big, and I have never seen her face as pale as a city’s snow, so white it’s eerie. Seeing it pains me so much that I wish I could suffer in her place.”

The so-called pain in the mother’s heart is this, and Madam Song genuinely feels heartache for Song Ruqi.

Song Zhiyuan’s expression was very displeased, his lips pursed tightly, and after a while, he said: ”It’s already come to this; reminiscing further would only harm her recovery. Open the storeroom and have people prepare some nourishing products to send over, instructing her to take good care of her health, that’s what’s important.”

”That’s what I think as well.” Madam Song wiped her tears.

Song Zhiyuan continued, ”Duke Ying Mansion is crowded with prying eyes, and the back residence is even more complex. This time she was taken advantage of, not only due to her own youthful lack of defense but also because of unreliable people around her. Madam, see if there is someone useful in the mansion to send over to her side; the same thing must not happen a second time, otherwise she might endure this time, but may not be able to endure a second time.”

Continuously losing children would make even the strongest person feel withered.

Madam Song shuddered inwardly, ”I understand.”

Seeing her looking exhausted, Song Zhiyuan said, ”You’ve been out all day; you’re tired too. Rest early. If you fall ill from exhaustion, Qi’er will feel even worse.”

Madam Song was also forcing herself to hold on and nodded: ”What about the Prime Minister?”

”He is still discussing affairs with a few of his advisers and came over only after hearing about your return. You should rest first; I must return to the study.”

Madam Song agreed: ”I’ll have someone prepare a night snack to send over.”

Song Zhiyuan nodded and comforted her with a few more words before leaving.

Madam Song instructed her trusted nanny to tell the kitchen to prepare the night snack for the study, and then she freshened up, lay down on her bed, thinking about this and that, and cried again when she thought of the painful parts. Eventually, unable to bear the fatigue, she fell into a deep sleep.

At Chunhui Hall, Song Ci had just crawled out of the scalding hot tub and weakly leaned on the bed, sighing.

Nanny Gong really couldn’t understand this ancestor’s thinking. The first thing upon returning was to instruct the servants to heat water. She wanted to take a bath to relieve fatigue.

Bathing in the winter, that’s just her.

Nanny Gong lit some Calming Incense, tucked her in, blew out several lamps, leaving only one orange-yellow one.

Song Ci said: ”Going to sleep now?”

Nanny Gong frowned: ”How about it, do you, Dowager, still want to have a heart-to-heart talk after such a tiring day?”

Song Ci chuckled, ”Gong Nanny, you’re becoming very bold, even daring to contradict the Dowager.”

”This old slave wouldn’t dare!” Nanny Gong sighed, ”You can leave what you have to say for tomorrow. You talked so much today and worried about so much, isn’t that enough?”

Which family’s Dowager would personally visit to inquire about her granddaughter’s miscarriage while others wait calmly at home for news?

Song Ci replied: ”I did it because I can still walk, move, and argue. That’s why I made a trip. The Gu family can be impulsive; when it concerns her own daughter, I fear she might fall into a trap if not careful, putting us in a passive position. You saw what happened today; that place is truly deep waters.”

Nanny Gong remained silent. Among noble families, complicated back residences are common enough to become ordinary, and she’d often seen them. She wanted to say something but noticed Song Ci had already fallen asleep with her head tilted, and she couldn’t help but smile.

Saying not tired, yet the body spoke the truth.
