Apocalypse: Master of Soul Beasts

”So, sir, would you like to hear the story about Ibira?”

”Go on.”

Wen Yu replied, his face showing a keen interest.

...

The deep sea signifies mystery, vastness, and is a forbidden zone for humans.

There are countless legends born in the deep sea—fearsome monsters, alluring sea witches, songs drifting on ocean currents, and many more...

But to the Sea King Tribe... or perhaps the former Sea King Tribe, the so-called deep sea was just like that.

Because they were a special creature, somewhere between animal and plant, without emotions, consciousness, or perhaps even sensation. But when the apocalypse arrived, and Demonic Qi began to invade, everything changed.

Named mutation, but actually evolution, like normal animals and plants, the initial first-round mutation evolution brought no qualitative change to the former Sea King Tribe.

They remained immobile, though they developed a dim consciousness, but still remained in a dazed state.

Until two strange creatures arrived at the place and engaged in an unusually fierce battle!

...

”At that time, the Demon Realm’s Gate was not yet open, and the entire deep-sea mutant creature tribe didn’t know what the Demon Tribe was, and pardon my words... the mutant creatures back then were not very intelligent. Due to the influence of Demonic Qi, the first wave of mutant creatures was born, and thus the food chain reorganized. Now thinking back, the ocean’s inclusiveness is truly astounding!”

”At that time, many strange and powerful life forms had already appeared in the deep sea.”

”Back then, the highest level limit was only the third-level.”

...

A giant king squid, a Sea Dragon...

One was a real deep-sea overlord, but under the infection of Demonic Qi, the giant king squid’s body expanded once more, and when it stretched its limbs, it was a scene that blocked the sun and sky, and when it roared, the sound waves were enough to tear the earth apart.

And the Sea Dragon... equally fierce!

Just one sentence about being an Inherent Divine Beast Seed was enough to depict the Sea Dragon’s ferocity and terrifying appearance—it was similar to the Star class, but the environmental factors of the deep sea made this Sea Dragon far bigger than the star of the same level, correspondingly, its absolute strength was also substantially greater.

However, Divine Beast Seed was not absolutely invincible.

Divine Beast Seed, especially Inherent Divine Beast Seed, absolutely deserved the monster appellation, yet the giant king squid itself was also a monster!

The battle that took place near the Ancestral Land of the Sea King Tribe almost razed the place to the ground, until both sides ended in a draw and left, the catastrophe finally subsided. However, what they didn’t see was that under the influence of the dark currents, a small part of the blood and flesh remnants left by both sides floated onto the Stone Pillar, subsequently absorbed, decomposed, and transformed into nutrients.

...

”This process was very slow. Actually, the nurturing process just shown to you was merely the result of me accelerating using a skill. Our Sea King Tribe’s transformation time generally fluctuates around three days.”

Three days, is really not long.

Until three days later, the part of the algae that absorbed the giant king squid and Sea Dragon’s blood and flesh completed its transformation.

It fell from the Stone Pillar, letting out a slightly immature howl, with its bizarre form appearing ferocious and frightening.

With the head of a dragon and the body of a serpent, it had no scales, and its skin was instead covered with slippery mucus. It had no limbs, replaced instead by eight tentacles, varying in length, resembling those of a squid.

Just as it was born, this initially born member of the Sea King Tribe swiftly swam to the site of the giant king squid and Sea Dragon’s battlefield nearby, searching for the remnants of blood and flesh from both parties, transforming it into nutrients for its own growth.

But after three days, the remaining blood and flesh from both parties were sparse, thus, it could only swim away into the distance, hunting in various places to satiate its hungry stomach.

It departed and never returned.

...

”Sir, you might not know... we, the Sea King Tribe, are somewhat special.”

”Our nurturing period is very short, and our growth cycle is also short. Once the individual fully matures, we maintain a peak period for a fairly long time... believe me, this fairly long period might be longer than you anticipate.”

”But there is a premise...”

”The growth and maturity of any life cannot be separated from the supply of resources. Up till now, I’m not hiding it from you anymore, our Sea King Tribe’s rapid individual growth, and overwhelming majority strengths during peak periods, is precisely built upon an extremely large supply of resources.”

”In fact, Ibira’s form is more suited for battle, but unfortunately, nurturing such a body to full maturity requires far too many nutrients, hence I opted instead to permanently fix the form of the Sea King Tribe after myself to resemble the Sea Demon.”

Upon hearing the Sea King’s words, Wen Yu merely shook his head.

The Sea King made a mistake...

Resources were never a problem after the Demon Tribe invasion; as long as you could kill, the energy from blood and flesh and magic crystals would be limitless!

But at the time, the Sea King didn’t know about the Demon Tribe invasion matter.

Remember where this information came from?

A treasure land...

Where mutant beasts can’t enter...

The discrepancy in intelligence is unavoidable; moreover, judging by the Sea King’s decision back then, the ambition of this tribe was undoubtedly extraordinary.

Deliberately choosing the most cost-effective form, its ambition was evident!

Because the Sea Demon has land survival capability! Moreover, Wen Yu has never heard of any rare tribe becoming the planet’s overlord...

...

”Ibira left and never returned.”

”Life continued peacefully, and countless wars broke out nearby, with blood splattering onto our bodies, naturally accompanied by failed transformations along the way. But you know, post-apocalypse, battle frequency only increases because the stronger the creature, the more it desires a larger territory. Although vast, the ocean isn’t as large as we imagine, and just like that, with the failure of form-shaping nearly a hundred times, the second tribe member was born.”

”Unfortunately, this tribe member wasn’t as lucky as Ibira...”

”He only absorbed regular Shark’s blood, but as the saying goes, blessing follows misfortune, after awakening, he quickly found ample food nearby, passed the growth cycle safely, and became a peak member of the Sea King Tribe.”

”He didn’t wander far like Ibira, but traversed around the ancestral land, until the Level 4 Level Lock shattered, his intelligence grew significantly, and thus he consciously expanded the tribe’s numbers.”

There’s nothing much to elaborate on in the middle, just the growth and evolution history of the Sea King Tribe.

Until the tribe scale of the Sea King Tribe reached a certain number, the Sea King awakened...
