Apocalypse: Master of Soul Beasts

Wen Yu suddenly felt a jolt in his heart...

He suddenly realized that although Star Praying, this supercomputer, could fulfill every request from the inquirer, it only followed logic and facts, which did not include any emotional factors.

Wen Yu wanted the Eighth Soul, so Star Praying naturally would give him the soul pet most suitable for him — and that might very well be the most formidable mutant creature on Earth, the will of the Sea King Tribe, the Sea King itself!

Star Praying doesn’t care about your relationship with the Sea King, nor does it care if Wen Yu has the mindset and tolerance to contract with the Sea King; it simply gives what it deems the most suitable answer.

So the question falls back on Wen Yu.

Wen Yu already suspected that his target this time might very well be the Sea King itself, but frankly speaking, Wen Yu actually looks down on this guy.

As the will of the Sea King Tribe, the ruler of all marine creatures, the Sea King’s power, strength, and potential indeed make it an excellent choice, but merely its past loyalty to Earth’s will, in Wen Yu’s eyes, is unforgivable!

Think of Victor.

He was contracted by Wen Yu for so long, yet he still held onto his yearning and reverence for Earth’s will, until Earth’s will overturned the table, and Victor then completely said goodbye to Earth’s will.

His Fifth Soul acted like this, and now you’re asking Wen Yu to contract with a will that has been fully brainwashed by Earth’s will — isn’t that asking for trouble?

”Ah...”

Wen Yu sighed softly, and his mind was resolute.

If this soul pet is indeed the Sea King, then he won’t contract with it.

But seeing the Sea King... it seems possible...

Since he’s already here, he might as well meet the Sea King and listen to how the Sea King wants to talk to him. After all, he doesn’t have any pressing matters at the moment.

Perhaps he would choose a desperate struggle, but from the two Sea King Clan members that came to meet him, Wen Yu could see that the Sea King’s thinking doesn’t seem to be like that.

So negotiation and compromise are all the Sea King can do now.

...

Wen Yu made up his mind, then signaled the two Sea King Clan members to lead the way.

The four of them walked to the back of a giant whale, and soon the whale began to accelerate — not too slow at that.

Wen Yu stood leisurely on the whale’s back, admiring the scenic views along the way, without a trace of worry in his heart.

With Earth’s will unable to intervene due to being sealed, Wen Yu was very sure the Sea King couldn’t pull anything off.

Fighting? Can’t win.

Perish together? Also impossible.

They differ from humans; as devoted followers of Earth’s will, they can’t directly use large-scale destructive weapons to damage Earth’s ecosystem like Entity K could.

Because by doing so, they would first harm the Earth’s will they believe in...

In fact, from a certain angle, these mutant creatures have more principles than humans.

...

The great whale swam for about two minutes and then dove deeper into the seabed, as light was swallowed by the ocean, and darkness surrounded them, a magnificent giant city emerged into Wen Yu’s view.

The Sea Clan Capital City, Deep Blue.

Wen Yu had never been here before; seeing it for the first time, he couldn’t help but extend his perception to observe this famously known city in detail, but after a few glances, he withdrew his gaze.

It’s not even as pretty as Yanjing...

The great whale passed by Deep Blue without stopping and continued swimming toward the predetermined direction, until three minutes later, it slowed down.

”Here we are, Your Majesty.”

The leading Sea King Clan member said, then stepped off the giant whale and pointed ahead.

”This is our ancestral land, and also the residence of His Majesty the Sea King.”

Wen Yu looked up, and in his eyes, there were only five giant stone pillars of varying heights seemingly placed haphazardly.

...

Wen Yu suspected that this Sea King Clan member was fooling him, but within two seconds, Wen Yu changed his attitude.

He sensed a somewhat unusual aura emanating from here...

Wen Yu started to walk slowly forward, while behind him, the two Sea King Clan members and Fang Yuqiong followed in lockstep. As they walked, one of the Sea King Clan members began to explain to Wen Yu.

”The ancestral land is the origin of our Sea King Tribe and the root of our tribe. Although after transforming their form, the Sea King Tribe gained the ability for sexual reproduction, that is indeed just one of our reproductive methods.”

”Initially, we expanded and thrived this way...”

The Sea King Clan member said, then pointed at one of the stone pillars.

Following his guidance, Wen Yu looked and saw all five stone pillars covered in some kind of algae-like creatures, swaying gently with the ocean currents, a faint life aura exuding from these sea plants.

The aura Wen Yu sensed earlier was emanating from here.

”Plants? No... probably plant-like, with some animal traits...”

Forgive Wen Yu’s lack of biological knowledge; he really couldn’t determine how the Sea King Tribe evolved in terms of reproductive style.

Until the Sea King Clan member next to him took action.

...

One of the Sea King Clan members took a piece of flesh from his pocket, then stepped forward two more steps, took a piece of algae from the stone pillar, placed the algae on the flesh, and in the next moment, Wen Yu suddenly felt a grand will from the depths of the earth inexplicably spreading and descending onto this piece of algae.

Wen Yu briefly glanced at the direction the will was spreading from, then refocused on the algae.

Transformation began to occur.

The piece of algae expanded and grew visibly, absorbing the nutrients from the flesh, and within moments, the algae changed its form...

First bones, then organs, followed by flesh...

Transforming from a plant-like form into a flesh-based life.

In a short while, a chubby little baby, resembling a member of the Sea King Tribe, appeared in the original spot.

Seeing this scene, Wen Yu’s eyelids jumped — this reproductive method is somewhat horrifying...

In terms of efficiency and speed, it was unprecedented in Wen Yu’s life — combined with the individual fighting ability of the Sea King Tribe, Wen Yu could undoubtedly assert that, from a reproductive standpoint, the Sea King Tribe is a higher form of life compared to humans!

However, seeing this, the Sea King Clan member hurriedly rushed forward, gently picked up the baby, and began to emit energy from his body, the energy inundated into the baby’s body, seemingly nurturing, and perhaps some kind of strengthening.

But shortly after, the newly born life aura dissipated and disappeared.

”Dead? Are you...”

The other Sea King Clan member gave a bitter smile.

”Your Majesty might not know, our tribe has a strong reproductive capacity, but the survival rate of the infants is low, in egg-laying state, about 3.53%, and through this method, only 0.85%...”

”Showing Your Majesty this scene is just to explain the origin of our tribe.”
