Apocalypse: Master of Soul Beasts

Let’s split and discuss two separate threads.

When the Level Lock shattered and Wen Yu dispatched his soul pets to support the main battlefield, the Demigod was in a secluded chamber, holding an intense meeting with someone.

The person opposite the Demigod had green skin, an exceptionally tall stature, and broad, muscular shoulders that emanated a sense of power.

Treasure Land Protector Number 2, the one whom Golden Armor said ”was not inferior to himself”!

At this moment, their conversation was drawing to a close. Surprisingly, they weren’t talking about Wen Yu; rather, the Demigod was trying to leverage Protector Number 2’s power to eliminate those ”turncoat” super-congregations on Earth, fully transforming Earth’s territory into his fundamental base.

Wen Yu was sweeping the Demigod’s forces from the tiered battle ground, and neither the Demigod nor Earth’s will could intervene. Similarly, Protector Number 2 couldn’t do anything.

Wen Yu decided to make a move on you, and given Wen Yu’s current strength, probably no one other than Level 12 would dare stop him.

Naturally, the Demigod accepted his fate!

Fine, I won’t go to the tiered battle ground anymore, is that okay?

To this, Wen Yu had no objection anyway, as he wasn’t interested in the little that Earth had left.

Just as Lin Haifeng joked—both Demigod and Wen Yu have drawn clear boundaries for the territories.

In theory, the Demigod didn’t need help from the Treasure Land Protectors. However, after the last incident, Tang Haofei vanished without a trace, no matter how hard the Demigod searched, unable to find a hint of him. Now, with his forces dwindling and the super-congregations not being pushovers, when Earth’s will proposed turning Earth’s territory into a fundamental base, the Demigod felt powerless. It wasn’t until Earth’s will instructed the Demigod to contact Treasure Land Protector Number 2 that a turning point occurred.

Indeed, this meeting was orchestrated entirely by Earth’s will...

The Demigod couldn’t figure out why Earth’s will, a recluse, could contact Treasure Land Protector Number 2, but he instinctively clung to this lifeline, arrived at the designated place, and indeed met Treasure Land Protector Number 2.

There ensued a wave of mutual praises until an agreement was reached.

When the Demigod began to act, Number 2 would send his faction’s Treasure Land Protectors to provide some level of assistance and interference—direct intervention was out of the question, but covert aid was acceptable. A few Level 11 protectors working in tandem only needed to do a little to tilt the balance in favor of the Demigod.

As for the price...

There was no price.

Number 2 had no demands.

The Demigod was puzzled by this, but seeing the favorable outcome, he refrained from further questioning and decisively prepared to walk away.

It was then that Protector Number 2 spoke up, seemingly casually.

”By the way, I heard you’re looking for Tang Haofei?”

The Demigod paused, wondering ”how did he know,” but his face showed no change as he nodded and asked.

”Why, do you have news about Tang Haofei?”

”Yes, that guy is hiding somewhere in the Antarctic Circle, the exact coordinates should be XXX, XXX, XXX. You wouldn’t believe how well he’s living in Antarctica. As I was listening to your plan, I thought of Tang Haofei, and it seemed to me that if you could get him to help, this plan would meet no further resistance.”

Protector Number 2 spoke earnestly, seemingly considerate of the Demigod’s interests, while the Demigod pondered shortly.

After they last met, Tang Haofei lost all contact. Although he and the Demigod exchanged means of communication, clearly, Tang Haofei wasn’t just avoiding Wen Yu, he was evading the Demigod too—the communicator was probably discarded somewhere obscure.

The sense of forsaking each other became undeniably clear!

But how could the Demigod be so easily fooled?

Why jeopardize your relationship with Wen Yu? Isn’t it because you exposed Tang Haofei? While you’ve endured such losses, that guy is happily hidden away, living comfortably. This won’t do!

The Demigod made up his mind promptly: it was necessary to meet Tang Haofei and discuss issues of ”commitment and credibility.”

Hence, the Demigod thanked Protector Number 2, then turned and departed.

...

The Demigod’s figure disappeared at the doorway, and only after the door closed did Protector Number 2 reveal a smile.

That smile brimmed with irony and mockery.

”What misfortune for that kid, being singled out by you, the master schemer.”

A self-muttering voice sounded, and then it seemed that a certain voice echoed in Protector Number 2’s mind. After a long while, he restrained his smile and self-questioned again.

”Is this really without any issue?”

”...”

”Alright, since you say there’s no problem, then there’s no problem.”

Having said that, Protector Number 2 ceased his speaking, his figure flickered, and then he vanished.

...

District 8 Outpost Base.

The demon plague had been declared over. Although its end didn’t relate much to Yanjing’s people, the resolution of a disaster was still a good thing.

At the very first moment the war ended, Lin Haifeng convened the commanders from four defense zones for a thorough tactical review and reflection.

At this moment, the atmosphere at the venue was somewhat heavy. Lin Haifeng kept reviewing reports compiled in his hands, furrowing his brows, pondering something.

To his right, third seat down, Fang Yuqiong hung his head in unease, avoiding his grandfather’s gaze.

On this occasion, Fang Yuqiong indeed didn’t perform well. In fact, he was prepared for his grandfather’s outrage. However, as Lin Haifeng started summarizing issues on the frontline and presenting solutions, the anticipated accountability did not happen.

It seemed as though Lin Haifeng had intentionally overlooked it.

Not until Lin Haifeng announced the meeting’s end and all the Yanjing’s higher-ups got up to leave did Fang Yuqiong exhale in relief. He, too, stood up, intending to distance himself from his grandfather, but unexpectedly, Lin Haifeng spoke at that moment.

”Yu Qiong, stay behind.”

Fang Yuqiong’s steps faltered slightly, yet he dared not defy Lin Haifeng’s command, standing foolishly still until only the two of them were left in the meeting room.

It was then that Lin Haifeng approached, just patted Fang Yuqiong on the shoulder to indicate for him to sit down, then the old man seated himself beside Fang Yuqiong, and calmly began to speak.
