Apocalypse: Master of Soul Beasts

Having confirmed Lin Haifeng’s true identity, all the actors are in place, and at this moment, the Demigod feels himself standing at the pinnacle of his life, standing on the far side of the camera, a glint in his eyes.

This glint sweeps across Lin Haifeng and Fang Yuqiong, this grandfather-grandson duo, bringing them undisguised malice.

”So, go ahead.”

The Demigod said thus, immediately followed by the three Soul Puppets stepping forward in unison.

Oppression was self-evident—should Fang Yuqiong make the ”wrong” choice, the three executioners would mercilessly unleash all attacks upon them, and in this confined space, Lin Haifeng and Fang Yuqiong truly have nowhere to escape!

But... one must always give young people more opportunities, shouldn’t one?

The Demigod thought this way, watching Fang Yuqiong’s trembling right hand holding the saber, seemingly unable to muster the will, the Demigod neither urged nor forced—just silently waited.

Until tears streaked down Fang Yuqiong’s face, and as they grew numerous, Fang Yuqiong finally gritted his teeth, rose from the floor, and stood with the steel saber before his grandfather.

”Yes, like that... just like that...”

The Demigod licked his lips, watching Fang Yuqiong clench his teeth, then the steel saber traced an arc, heavily striking Lin Haifeng’s neck!

”OK!”

As if a director had captured the desired shot, the Demigod disregarded the bloodshed in front of the camera, merely signaled sharply with his hand.

As a gigantic Cross materialized out of thin air, in the next second, accompanied by a flash of light, Lin Haifeng’s figure reappeared on the spot.

”Swish!”

Three piercing sounds rang out as Energy Fluctuations dispersed, and within almost three seconds, tentacles again wielded across the purple wall cavity, once more entwining Lin Haifeng, binding him, dragging him in front of Fang Yuqiong.

”Continue!”

The Demigod, expressionless, merely signaled Fang Yuqiong to kill once more.

...

”Continue...”

”Continue...”

”Continue...”

”Continue...”

The sound of ”continue” echoed like a demonic voice in Fang Yuqiong’s ears; from initial chilling fear to later numbness to eventually routine familiarity.

The plan... wasn’t supposed to be like this...

When his grandfather and he devised the plan to infiltrate Earth’s Will, Fang Yuqiong was elated—because he had already shown his ”value” on the battlefield, and this time, his grandfather had given him one last chance to demonstrate his ”value” in another aspect.

Recalling his grandfather’s initial plan arrangement: ”You and I pretend to have a falling out, then wait for your uncle to take the bait—it doesn’t matter if he doesn’t take it, it’s just a trial, and when he approaches, everything else will depend on you.”

”I understand, it’s just an undercover job, right...”

”Not just that... if the plan succeeds... forget it... you’ll know what to do when the time comes...”

Initially, Fang Yuqiong found the plan highly challenging—gaining trust from the Demigod and Earth’s Will was tougher than reaching the heavens, but as today’s events unfolded and Fang Yuqiong saw a certain resolve in his grandfather’s eyes, he suddenly understood the essence of the plan.

A matter pertaining to sacrifice and reward.

To set a trap, you first need bait... The larger and stronger the targeted trap, the more precious the bait must be...

At first, Fang Yuqiong had such doubts—whether this grandfather was truly Lin Haifeng, yet when his saber’s edge connected with his grandfather’s neck, everything became simple and clear.

The sharp steel saber made contact with Lin Haifeng’s skin as if a regular kitchen knife cutting through cowhide—this was real.

Using oneself as bait, merely to successfully embed into Earth’s Will—nothing is more worthy as an offering than Lin Haifeng’s life, or perhaps it would be Wen Yu’s life...

Thus, the remaining choices became notably simplified.

Though Fang Yuqiong might have been an utter mess on the main battlefield, seeming like a complete failure, in this matter, he certainly didn’t disappoint Lin Haifeng—listening to ”continue” from the Demigod’s mouth while shedding tears, he fiercely wielded the saber, harvesting Lin Haifeng’s life over and over again!

Now that things have reached this point, weighing two lives plus plan failure against one life plus plan success—which to choose—deducting emotional factors, this truly becomes an easy scoring question!

After Fang Yuqiong swung the saber 185 times consecutively, a prompt sounded in his ear.

”Due to Sequence Number 3’s death, your sequence number advances one step; it is now Sequence Number 4!”

Only then did Fang Yuqiong lower his head, seeing the lifeless, separated corpse of Lin Haifeng on the ground, his life force completely extinguished. After a while, Fang Yuqiong forcefully wiped his face, then turned to the Demigod.

”Now, Uncle, let’s talk about the upcoming matters.”

...

Watching Fang Yuqiong transition from initial sorrow and lamentation to final calm and cruelty, the Demigod couldn’t help but feel that the river’s waves push forward stronger generations...

His nephew... seems quite capable...

Thinking this way, he then took down the camera, placing it back into the space ring, and walked forward two steps, standing by Fang Yuqiong’s side.

”Well done, now, let’s go. We need to return to your home to discuss the next matters... Rest assured, with Lin Haifeng gone, the position of Commander-in-Chief of Yanjing will surely be yours!”

”Also, brother Lin Que and my father, those two are also hindrances!”

Fang Yuqiong said through clenched teeth, seemingly having understood everything—for the sake of power, he seemingly wants to use the Demigod’s hand to eliminate all the obstacles before him.

”Don’t worry, I’ve considered these issues.”

The Demigod affectionately patted Fang Yuqiong’s shoulder, the two walked arm-in-arm to the vicinity of the wall cavity, then two tentacles extended from the cavity, wrapping around their ankles.

Similar to when entering, when Fang Yuqiong returned to his senses again, the two were already outside District 8 Outpost Base.

Behind them, the black light membrane gradually dimmed, eventually disappearing entirely. In the next second, intense Energy Waves erupted from the Supreme Command Headquarters of District 8 Outpost Base. Fang Yuqiong could even hear laments like ”avenge the Supreme Commander”.

”So, aren’t they coming out?”

”No... Firstly, to clear all traces, after all, Old Man Fran’s Time Series Abilities are troublesome; secondly, better hurry Yanjing to avenge Lin Haifeng, it would expedite the selection process for the next Commander-in-Chief of Yanjing... We need to provide these people an outlet for their emotions, don’t we?”

The Demigod spoke lightly—with the lives of Four Soul Puppets in exchange for Lin Haifeng’s life... this couldn’t be a better deal...
