Apocalypse: Master of Soul Beasts

”Let me say a few words...”

As Wen Yu spoke up, everyone present fell silent. Meeting countless gazes, Wen Yu swallowed the chicken leg in his mouth before finally speaking.

”The relationship between Lin Haifeng and me... well, it’s somewhat complicated. The old people of Yanjing probably know about the grudges of the past.”

”The two of us, calling us friends is a bit much, but to say we were enemies wouldn’t be accurate either. It’s more like a mutual admiration... He admired my strength, while I admired his ideals.”

”Everything Lin Haifeng did for this world is obvious. Perhaps in dealing with certain individuals, his actions were annoying or hateful to some, but on major issues, Lin Haifeng was never wrong. Everything he did made life better for not just you, but your descendants, and countless others not as strong as me, or even yourselves. This world needs people like that, and I respect and admire him for it!”

”Now, he is dead. The reason I’m here today is to say farewell to Lin Haifeng, to honor the passing of another good person, another outstanding leader. However, some events today slightly exceeded my expectations.”

”Specifically, regarding the next leader of Yanjing.”

”I am not from Yanjing. I might even boast a little, that you Yanjing people should be my talents right now. You exist in the tiered battle ground, and it’s because of my mercy that you’ve been able to develop and grow. But for this, I don’t need your gratitude.”

”I just want to tell you that you should adhere to Lin Haifeng’s last wishes... In fact, as far as I’m concerned, when Fran produced this will, the matter was already settled. Personally, I quite agree with Fang Yuqiong becoming the Commander of Yanjing—of course, it’s just an optional matter.”

”So, I gave you a chance to vote and select who you think is suitable as the Commander of Yanjing...”

”But after everyone’s votes, there’s no point in disputing this, right?”

”Right?”

”Right!?”

”Dissent exists everywhere, but all we can do is unite amidst differences, with the minority obeying the majority. Now that the result is out, what’s this? You cast your votes yourself, do you still want to flip the table?”

”I’m not capable in other skills, but I’m quite skilled in killing... The old man has died, so you think you can overturn the world now? He’s gone, but now I’m here, so there’s no need for further discussion. Today, I’m settling this matter; from now on, I recognize Fang Yuqiong as the Supreme Commander of Yanjing, who has any objections?”

No one dared to object...

In fact, if Wen Yu hadn’t spoken up, this matter might still have had some variables, but once Wen Yu spoke, all variables vanished.

You cast your votes, you chose your leader... Not convinced? Get out! Make trouble? Die!

That’s it!

With Wen Yu’s words, the whole matter was concluded as if the coffin was nailed shut.

...

Until this moment, the funeral banquet finally had the semblance of an event. Naturally, it couldn’t get lively, but eating and drinking still seemed appropriate.

The traditional Cathay funeral, isn’t it just like this...

Halfway through the meal, Lin Que might have been unable to tolerate the atmosphere, or more likely couldn’t bear the attitude of the Yanjing upper echelon lining up to toast Fang Yuqiong. He simply ate and drank quickly, then put down his utensils and returned to the front hall to watch over his grandfather’s memorial, with Fang Bai following closely behind.

Fang Yuqiong wanted to show his filial piety, but at this moment with the overall situation settled, Fang Yuqiong had just risen to power, it was time to bond with his subordinates, and between filial piety and the future, he chose the latter.

There’s not much to criticize—Lin Haifeng himself was a person indifferent to emotions, Fang Yuqiong’s actions indeed inherited Lin Haifeng’s style.

Until Wen Yu finished eating and drinking, wiped the oil off his mouth, burped and was about to leave. But unexpectedly, Fang Yuqiong stood up holding his wine glass and approached Wen Yu.

”Uncle Wen Yu, I’ve long heard of your great name, but have never met you. Today, I must thank you, uncle, for speaking on my behalf.”

”It wasn’t for you, just for the old man. Yeah, actually I admire him too... Forget it, let’s not talk about these things. For the sake of the old man, if you encounter any issues in the future, feel free to come to me, I will support you.”

”Then thank you, uncle.”

Fang Yuqiong finished speaking and drained his glass of wine, while Wen Yu also patted Fang Yuqiong’s shoulder.

This scene, instead, made everyone below breathe a sigh of relief.

Wen Yu’s attitude indicated that the issue concerning Yanjing’s successor had reached its conclusion.

...

The funeral lasted for three days, but for the following days, Wen Yu did not appear anymore. Three days later, with Lin Haifeng formally interred, Fang Yuqiong’s inauguration ceremony officially began.

This time, Wen Yu rarely showed up, and personally pinned the badge symbolizing Yanjing’s highest leadership on Fang Yuqiong. With the conclusion of the inauguration ceremony, the vast machine named Yanjing once again began to operate.

Fang Yuqiong indeed had notable abilities in governance, coupled with the support from Fran and others, and for a moment, the whole of Yanjing seemed to have moved past the sorrow of Lin Haifeng’s death and returned to what was normal.

It wasn’t until a month later that Fang Yuqiong met his uncle again.

...

”Embed your personnel into the front lines and gradually let them control Yanjing’s army...”

”Also, these materials you need...”

”Well, Uncle, these things are too much, even I don’t dare to do them openly.”

”That’s not my concern.”

The Demigod said at this point, deliberately waving the USB drive in his hand—inside it stored the ”intimate contact” between Fang Yuqiong and Lin Haifeng.

This was the leverage, an ultimate weapon capable of plunging Fang Yuqiong into a place beyond redemption!

Upon hearing this, Fang Yuqiong did not show any anger—a month of experience had taught Fang Yuqiong what it meant not to express joy or anger.

And also taught him the meaning of compromise...

”I can do it, but I need some time.”

”No problem, I can wait.”

The Demigod was quite agreeable, until those matters were discussed, he spoke up again.

”Also, regarding the troop deployment on the front line, I have a small suggestion.”

After finishing, the Demigod pulled out a map, pointed to the front line locations, and spoke.

”Here, here, and here, I need these three armies to switch their defense zones.”

”That’s impossible!”

Fang Yuqiong looked at the location the Demigod pointed to, and for the first time, displayed a look of refusal.
