Apocalypse: Master of Soul Beasts

Ground Dragon, an extremely rare breed of mutant demonic beast in the Great World of Leitguss.

Before the end times arrived, it already possessed abilities of concealment and earth-burrowing. After the invasion of Demonic Qi, these creatures, adept in concealment, combined their unique abilities with the professionist system, further strengthening the Ground Dragon’s innate dual talents.

Unfortunately, the Ground Dragon clan was too rare. Within the first month after the Level 10 Level Lock in the Great World of Leitguss was broken, they were exterminated by the Demon Tribe.

But because they were rare, they are worth collecting...

At this moment, inside the Ground Dragon’s belly, five bizarre creatures of varying sizes were curled up in a tight space, striving to compress their perception ability, reducing their own remarkably strong energy fluctuations, to ensure the success of their plan.

This endeavor, which could be deemed as torturous infiltration, did not arouse any dissatisfaction from the five Demon Fiends. They were merely waiting, waiting for the moment to serve Lord Demon Spirit with loyalty.

Until the Ground Dragon, at an extremely slow speed, lurked to the edge of the District 8 Outpost Base, did a deep voice resound within its abdomen.

”We’ve reached the target location, but there exists a kind of omnipresent alert barrier here. Any further and I’ll trigger the barrier, exposing our tracks.”

Upon hearing this voice, the five Demon Fiends opened their eyes one after another. A relatively normal-looking Ancient Demon spoke.

”Then, let’s stop here.”

After speaking, the Ancient Demon first wriggled its body and crawled out through the Ground Dragon’s mouth. The remaining four strange creatures followed closely behind.

”I wish you all good fortune in battle; my task ends here.”

As the Ground Dragon finished speaking, its body slowly transformed into a huge rock, and then it solidified completely underground.

...

The soil layer of the tiered battle ground was exceptionally heavy. Although parts of it were suitable for cultivation, most belonged to an extremely hard, unknown layer of rock.

The location surrounding the District 8 Outpost Base was naturally of this type of rock layer.

But this couldn’t stop the five powerful Demon Tribe members.

The leading Ancient Demon extended its four arms, gently slicing through the air, and the rock layer around the five Demon Fiends was instantly cleansed and evaporated by some special force, creating a clear and unobstructed space around them.

This gave the five Demon Fiends enough room to reside.

It was only at this moment that the Ancient Demon spoke.

”Action begins.”

The next second, behind him, a creature with eight tentacles, resembling a giant octopus, immediately sprang into action.

...

The tentacles curled around its companions. The large octopus’ head emitted light and its body floated in mid-air, twisting until it reached a certain speed, then it shot upwards like a drill, swiftly aiming for the central underground area of the District 8 Outpost Base. Suddenly, it felt the presence of a barrier, but the barrier, which only served as a warning signal, naturally posed no hindrance to the large octopus.

As fragile as paper, it was pierced through instantly.

At the same time, the defense system of the District 8 Outpost Base immediately issued an alert. However, by the time the alert troops reacted, the large octopus had already propelled its companions to the center of the District 8 Outpost Base—beneath the Supreme Command Headquarters!

”Boom!”

With a heavy sound of breakthrough, the shadow of the large octopus shot high into the air, and from midair, it released its tentacles. Then, the most seemingly normal Ancient Demon immediately retrieved three black crystal stones from its bosom.

”The first one!”

”Crack.”

The crystal stone shattered, and a black light shield instantly enveloped the area above the Supreme Command Headquarters.

”The second one!”

Again, with a ”crack” sound.

A massive light shield completely enveloped the military restricted zone at the center of the District 8 Outpost Base.

”The third one!”

The final crystal stone broke, and a larger black light screen immediately sealed off the entire District 8 Outpost Base!

With three layers of obstruction set, only at this point did the Ancient Demon release its perception—and in just a moment, it pinpointed the target’s location!

”It’s inside there!”

As the Supreme Commander of the Yanjing Assembly Site, Lin Haifeng naturally remained stationed at the District 8 Supreme Command Headquarters for years. Consequently, the defense system here was reputed as impregnable!

The outside warning system was only the beginning, and inside the Supreme Command Headquarters lay the true deadly traps!

Before a few members of the Demon Tribe even descended from the sky, the roof of the Supreme Command Headquarters suddenly opened, and the next second, a sinister weaponry device revealed itself. As its barrel locked onto the five Demon Fiends in mid-air, brilliance shone from the gun’s muzzle.

”Boom!”

A stream of pale particles was launched instantaneously, piercing through the head of the Ancient Demon. The surge of particles, undiminished in momentum, struck the black barrier, dissipating only after being absorbed by it.

”Mere trivialities...”

The Ancient Demon, whose head had been shattered, felt scornful at heart—how could mere inanimate objects possibly eliminate him?

In this era, as an elite, who hasn’t acquired a couple of instant recovery abilities and resurrection tools?

The wound on his head healed in an instant, but when the Ancient Demon regained his sight, he found to his shock that the scene before him had drastically changed!

The entire District 8 Command Post seemed to arm itself in the blink of an eye. Countless weapons identical to the previous one emerged from every crevice. The Ancient Demon only felt a blur before his eyes, as if numerous rising Suns appeared before him!

”Boom!”

Countless streams of particles, identical to the previous one, instantly tore the Ancient Demon to shreds!

The resurrection ability activated... but all that awaited him was another concentrated bombardment!

Within just three seconds, the remnants of the Ancient Demon plummeted to the ground, utterly devoid of life.

However, the Ancient Demon’s comrades observed this with cold, indifferent expressions...

They were different from the Ancient Demon.

...

Professionist, Demon Fiend, mutant beast... and Soul Puppet.

The first three all belonged to the professionist system, differing only in race and permissions. In terms of permission rank, professionists were the highest—they could access treasure lands and use the Exchange Stone Pillars. The Demon Tribe was next, able to use skill scrolls and most tools, while mutant beasts were the lowest.

And Soul Puppets, existing outside the professionist system, naturally couldn’t use tools.

This time, the assassination squad dispatched by the Demon Spirit consisted of one Demon Fiend and four Soul Puppets. In terms of combat power, although the Ancient Demon was a Level 8 Breakthrough Achiever, his true strength was just average. He wouldn’t even fare well against select members within the upper echelons of Yanjing in a duel.

His role was merely to use tools, set up a defensive barrier, and isolate this area from outside contact.

The true main force was the four Soul Puppets concocted by the Demon Spirit.
