Apocalypse: Master of Soul Beasts

”You’re sending them to their deaths! If they die, all sorts of problems will arise at the frontline... Besides...”

”Hey, hey, hey... Don’t tell me this. Just do what you’re told! What’s more, it’s not my decision; it’s from the higher-ups! Do you understand?”

”The higher-ups!?”

Fang Yuqiong showed a doubtful expression, and moments later, his demeanor changed to realization.

”That’s right, the higher-ups. Your grandfather probably hasn’t told you, has he? I’m just a puppet in all this. There’s someone else above me.”

The Demigod said this and then quietly leaned close to Fang Yuqiong’s ear, whispering the words ”Earth Will.”

This was indeed something Fang Yuqiong was aware of, and by now, it seemed no one was in the dark about it anymore.

In fact, there was an event named ”The Struggle for Orthodoxy” not long ago, but it ended without any resolution.

For humans, who is the orthodox ruler is not important; what’s important is the interests at stake.

Fang Yuqiong frowned, pondering for a long time, before finally speaking.

”Then about this command...”

”Who knows what that entity is thinking.”

”It’s not feasible. If I make this decision, the losses incurred are enough for others to impeach me. The cost is too great! Uncle, you don’t want to see me fall right after taking the position, do you?”

”Indeed, I don’t want that... But that entity seems in a hurry... So, your uncle is also in a tough spot.”

The conversation suddenly reached a stalemate until Fang Yuqiong spoke again.

”How about this, then? Let me have a talk with the Earth Will. Uncle, we’re in the same boat now; I think I should go with you to meet our leader, don’t you think?”

Though he said this, Fang Yuqiong’s face clearly showed disbelief in the Demigod’s words.

He didn’t believe that the Earth Will would issue such commands.

To the ”uninformed” Fang Yuqiong, there were many issues here, the most crucial one being this: Our dear Earth Mother—how could She give such orders for Her people to deliberately seek death?

Perhaps seeing is believing to dispel all doubts. Besides, Fang Yuqiong’s status now can’t possibly be inferior to the Demigod. If the Demigod can meet the Earth Will, what reason do I have not to?

Stop using that leverage; it’s only a weapon of mass destruction. Before the two officially fall out, the Demigod can only use it as a threat, but to truly use it? The Demigod wouldn’t dare...

Pushing Fang Yuqiong into his position took considerable effort from the Demigod. It’s a one-time thing—once Fang Yuqiong is gone, this line is completely severed—irrevocably!

Why didn’t the Demigod try to get rid of Lin Haifeng after the plot to overthrow the leadership in Yanjing was exposed? Simply because eliminating him would be useless; even dead, Lin Haifeng’s influence kept Yanjing entrenched in the tiered battle ground, where the Demigod couldn’t intervene. With Fang Yuqiong’s betrayal, killing Lin Haifeng gained maximum significance and benefits.

In other words, Fang Yuqiong’s current status is not just that of a ”coerced” party; his words carry weight in the ears of both the Demigod and the Earth Will.

The Demigod could understand this logic too—actually, in his view, it would be odd if Fang Yuqiong didn’t have suspicions. Thus, the Demigod fell silent for a while before finally speaking.

”Alright then, I’ll go back and ask.”

...

When things had reached this point, the Demigod actually had no more suspicions—Lin Haifeng was dead, and the Dominator’s sequence change announcement was crystal clear; this couldn’t be faked.

Having killed Lin Haifeng with his own hands, Fang Yuqiong had no way out—the influence Lin Haifeng held over Yanjing for so many years, even in death, was unparalleled compared to Fang Yuqiong’s. If things went south, Yanjing would surely crush Fang Yuqiong to dust.

Aside from following the Demigod, it seemed Fang Yuqiong had no other choices.

But there was still an issue.

After the plan succeeded, the Earth Will was overjoyed; it seemed even He couldn’t believe how smoothly things unfolded, yet the facts were undeniable.

But the issue that arose was rather unfriendly to the Demigod...

In reality, the Earth Will had wanted the Demigod to contact Fang Yuqiong for some time—He wished to meet in person His current most powerful pawn...

Indeed, in the Earth Will’s eyes, Fang Yuqiong’s status was far more useful than the Demigod.

This aroused a bit of a crisis for the Demigod; in this month, apart from another cleansing of origins done by the Earth Will, every meeting hinted at having the Demigod bring Fang Yuqiong before Him, yet the Demigod kept delaying.

Simply due to a fear of losing favor...

However, when Fang Yuqiong himself brought up the subject, the Demigod understood that it seemed the matter could not be put off any longer.

Thus, the Demigod soon activated his carbon copy again to deliver a message to Fang Yuqiong.

”Earth meeting in three days.”

...

The Demigod didn’t explain in detail how to return to Earth through the sealed transmission channel, but given Fang Yuqiong’s resources as Yanjing’s leader, such minor problems were naturally manageable.

He activated a secret carbon copy stationed at District 8 Outpost Base, while his true self, unbeknownst to others, traveled through the tiered battle ground’s transmission channel to appear on Earth’s homeland.

That’s right, he came in person...

Regarding this, Fang Yuqiong’s explanation was—when meeting the Earth Mother for the first time, one should always bring some sincerity, right?

The Demigod nodded in agreement but still asked Fang Yuqiong if the tiered battle ground scene would arouse any suspicion, to which Fang Yuqiong replied it wouldn’t, everything was arranged.

The conversation ended with a question and answer, and they spoke no more, as the Demigod took Fang Yuqiong first to his territory for a sit-down, where they secretly conducted some PY transactions. At dawn the next day, the Demigod led Fang Yuqiong to the coastal area.

”Let’s go...”

As the Demigod spoke, Fang Yuqiong gently caressed his space ring, wearing a perfectly timed expression of impatience on his face.

...

Pacific Ocean—Mariana Trench—origin of the Earth’s nucleus.

The Demigod had traversed this route countless times, and now, it was all second nature.

He led Fang Yuqiong deep into the Pacific Ocean, and in no time, they entered Sea King’s territory—the sea beasts passing by merely wagged their heads and tails at the Demigod before ignoring the two men.

This encounter was personally sanctioned by the Earth Will, and the sea beasts guarding the place must have been informed in advance, thus making this so-called first security check merely a formality.
