Apocalypse: Master of Soul Beasts

”Screech~~”

”Screech~~”

The piercing sound rang out, sharp and shrill, like someone was rubbing a sharp knife against the wall. As this sound grew nearer, Bai and Ye Nan just curled up in the corner of the room, their faces full of fear and panic.

Even though Ye Nan had been completely controlled by Bai, losing all consciousness, he was still trembling all over. If Bai weren’t covering Ye Nan’s mouth tightly, Bai wouldn’t doubt that Ye Nan would scream out in extreme terror!

This isn’t a psychological issue, just a response originating from bodily instincts, a kind of intrinsic reaction to fear.

The pursuer behind them was just one person, yet only this one person chased Bai and Ye Nan to the point where there was no way out either from heaven or earth.

The wide-ranging fear halo made Bai and Ye Nan’s legs tremble, their minds restless; the invulnerable body rendered Bai’s attack methods completely ineffective, while the immense speed and powerful perception ability blocked all escape routes for them both.

This wasn’t a pursuit; to Bai and Ye Nan, it felt more like a nightmare from which they couldn’t wake up. As for the enemy behind them... this was merely one of his favored little games.

The scraping sound still lingered in their ears, but suddenly at a certain moment, it vanished abruptly. For a while, Bai felt that everything around them had quieted down, leaving only Ye Nan’s sporadic breathing.

This was true silence; even the omnipresent spatial undercurrents had disappeared at this moment. The entire space seemed to plunge into complete dead silence, and at the same time, the perception ability encountered a lock. Even with all Bai’s means exhausted, he could barely observe a few meters around him.

It was like lighting a candle in the dark, its weak flame illuminating only partially. Yet, this light did not bring peace and safety but instead greatly intensified the inner feelings of fear.

Ye Nan’s breath became increasingly rapid, his body shaking violently like a sieve. Bai merely squinted his eyes, concentrating all attention on his surroundings. However, as Bai focused and held his breath, he suddenly sensed a warm air flow rising around his ear.

This warm flow was gentle, akin to a lover’s breath at the ear, yet its meaning made Bai’s blood run cold.

”Found you...”

A deliberately raised tone abruptly rang out, and Bai trembled as he turned his head, only to see a brightly painted face.

Like a circus clown, the face covered in greasepaint was immense, about twice the size of Bai’s own face, while the corresponding body was petite, with the enemy’s overall height less than 1.5 meters, clothed in a jokingly colorful outfit.

At that moment, the funny clown sat beside Bai like Bai’s junior follower in a squatting position identical to Ye Nan’s, as if it had stayed at Bai’s side all along.

Trickles of cold sweat dripped down from Bai’s forehead. He looked at the clown beside him, not knowing how to react. Yet the seeming malicious grin and the glint in its eyes broke Bai’s daze.

A sleeve sword about 50 centimeters long slid out from the clown’s attire, cleanly and efficiently stabbing into Bai’s chest. The fierce power instantly stripped away Bai’s ability to counter, leaving him pinned helplessly to the steel wall behind. Having executed all this, the clown leisurely stood up; its head unmoving while its eyeballs whirled ceaselessly, as if they belonged to different people—sometimes one turned up while the other down, sometimes one left while the other right. It first looked at Bai pinned against the wall struggling hard, then glanced at Ye Nan shivering like sifted grains beside it. After a while, the clown finally raised a smirk.

”I’ll give you one more chance...”

After speaking, the short sword lodged in Bai’s chest disappeared abruptly, and the clown’s figure slowly vanished into the dark, only the clown’s last words lingering in the air.

”Round eight of the game starts now. Hmm, just wait a moment... The final target has appeared... Then...”

”This really is the last round.”

As the voice drifted further away, Bai’s body slowly slid down from the wall. However, this time was different from previous moments of utter despair and fear; lying on the ground, Bai’s eyes suddenly sparked with brightness. He looked at the still dazed Ye Nan beside him, then pulled out a puppet from the space ring.

Carefully counting the cracks on the puppet’s body, after a while, Bai gritted his teeth and rapidly activated the puppet’s power.

Having played along with this madman for so long, finally, finally, Wen Yu has arrived.

...

White energy streams shot out, swiftly rushing towards the black cloth monster raising its hands high ahead. Accompanied by a flash of the power of space, the Divine Light emitted by Faceless was refracted by the black cloth monster to change its attack direction.

The powerful energy stream instantly blasted afar, followed by a mushroom cloud surging like a nuclear explosion, a bottomless pit suddenly appeared at the battlefield’s edge.

The heat slowly emanating from the pit mixed into the spatial energy undercurrents here, seemingly triggering some reaction. These energy undercurrents rampaged instantly, tearing through space and twisting the earth, attempting to destroy everything, yet they had no slightest impact on the three engaged in intense combat.

Faceless was in high spirits at the moment, having left its boss’s side for over three years. The experiences on Earth need no elaboration, just eating and drinking, inspecting the Soul Puppet’s work, searching for the Treasure Land Protector (which he failed to find), all in all, it was still peaceful and stable. Correspondingly, Faceless also did not find any opportunity to take action.

He even considered sparring with Tang Haofei, but after observing Tang Haofei’s strength and reclusive attitude, Faceless decisively abandoned this notion.

The price of being burdened by power had long stripped Tang Haofei of any capital to compete against Wen Yu!

Just upon returning, Faceless encountered two Level 11 big figures. Initially, Faceless had an instinctive aversion to Level 11 powerful experts. Having once fought one-on-one with the Treasure Land Protector, Faceless didn’t gain any advantages whatsoever. However, during these three years, Wen Yu’s improvements had truly astonished Faceless. As soon as Faceless obtained Wen Yu’s blood and simulated Wen Yu, he immediately realized that Wen Yu had undergone a qualitative change compared to three years ago!

Enhancements in fundamental physical qualities made Faceless increasingly at ease facing the human models and the black cloth monster’s attacks. Coupled with a powerful skill set, Faceless’s offensive grew more aggressive and rampant. Each second, Faceless’s strength multiplied rapidly from being initially affected by the Space Lock, leading to bodily collapse, to currently imposing complete suppression on enemies without even deeming their attacks worth dodging!

A delusion capable of destroying heaven and earth...
