Apocalypse: Master of Soul Beasts

With his interest piqued, the Faceless didn’t even care about battle skills. He merely hovered mid-air, his body flashing rapidly with black and white lights, which then fused and swiftly transformed into Chaotic Power. This Chaotic Power condensed into swords, overwhelming and shooting down at the two Demon Fiends below.

With an absolute dominance in strength, who needs battle skills?

The threads of the manikin flew wildly through the air. These extremely fine threads carried unparalleled sharpness, cutting through the space as they swiftly sliced toward the Faceless, but they all shattered before reaching the Faceless’s protective energy—they couldn’t even pierce his energy shield! As for the black cloth monster, it could only keep using its Power of Space to divert the Faceless’s attacks, and as for counterattacks, that was out of the question!

And Leoja? At the beginning of the battle, the Faceless had casually crushed him into a pulp.

The disadvantaged black cloth monster and the manikin, however, showed no intention of leaving the battle. They only defended against the Faceless’s attacks while quietly communicating.

”The intelligence, has it been sent out?”

”Of course, but this guy is really arrogant. Shall we exert a bit more effort?”

The two did not use their full strength, as if waiting for a particular moment.

”There’s no need to expend too much energy here. Once Ross arrives, let’s see if this guy can still act so arrogantly!”

The name of Ross seemed to give them great confidence, though there was one thing they found strange...

Wasn’t it said that the enemy is proficient in Soul Skills? Why haven’t we seen any sign of Soul Skills yet?

There was an error in the intelligence—they were unaware of the existence of the Faceless.

This, however, aligned with Wen Yu’s thoughts—the Faceless did indeed divert all the attention of the Demon Palace Security Bureau, which gave Wen Yu more time.

A time to understand the experiences of the Black River Sovereign, and the secrets of the Demon Spirit.

...

Information flowed rapidly from the mind into his body, then surged into the brain, and in a trance, the scene before Wen Yu began to change.

Everything was not unfamiliar.

It operated on the same principle as the memory images from the Heavenly Palace—like a movie that Wen Yu simply needed to quietly sit back and watch.

The first scene to appear was the rebirth of the Black River Sovereign...

Born into a somewhat affluent Demon Realm family, his mother was an ordinary Soot Skin Demon Fiend who farmed to maintain household expenses—yes, to have fields to till marked one as a land-owning class in the Demon Realm. His father’s status wasn’t bad either, serving in the Demon Clan Army as a pro-soldier for a certain General.

Wen Yu quickly skimmed through these memories, from birth, to childhood, to youth, where there was nothing particularly noteworthy until the memory slowed down as it reached the early adulthood of the Black River Sovereign.

Because the war had begun.

As the largest tribe among the Demon Tribe’s population, the Soot Skin Demon Fiend group was the main force in any invasion war. With the conscription order issued, even with the status of the Black River Sovereign’s father, only two of their family could remain living in the Demon Realm, while the rest had to head to the battlefield.

Having just reached adulthood and not yet started a family or career, the Black River Sovereign, along with his 98 siblings, carried a worn-out hatchet and marched through the Demon Realm’s Gate.

At that time, the Black River Sovereign was only at third-level.

...

The first invasion war that the Black River Sovereign participated in took place in a world called Gosiakres, the specific translation of which the Black River Sovereign had long forgotten. What he remembered was only the cruelty of the war.

It was no different from what happened on Earth. The first round of the invasion war had a Level 5 cap, and the Black River Sovereign was just one among the horde-like Demon Tribe Army pouring into the indigenous world as if in a swarm.

Slaughter, devouring, rewards, promotion, blood, and shattered limbs flying everywhere, moans and roars intertwining—this was a warrior’s stage, a vast field of profit, dangerous yet filled with opportunities, and the Black River Sovereign was undoubtedly among the lucky ones. Within less than 300 years, this world was overrun by the Demon Tribe, and all resources were consumed utterly, which allowed the Black River Sovereign to accumulate enough capital for advancement and become a Peak Level 10 Soot Skin Demon Fiend.

Wen Yu felt an intangible pressure rising within him just from a brief glance.

In Gosiakres’s final battle, the Demon Clan Army dispatched no less than 30 Level 11 Demon Tribe members, who ruthlessly hunted Gosiakres’s Sequence Number 1. They not only shattered the tiered battle ground but also slaughtered everything that could move in the entire world.

And it was during this memory that the Black River Sovereign first saw the figure of a Demon Spirit.

...

It was the war’s end. After the powerful experts of the Demon Clan Army resolved the sole Level 11 powerful expert in Gosiakres, the figure of a Demon Spirit appeared from the Demon Realm’s Gate.

It was enveloped in mysterious power from head to toe, making it impossible to see its specific form and face. Colorful radiance swirled around the Demon Spirit, seemingly extraordinary to the naked eye. However, upon closer inspection, one would find that the aura of the Demon Spirit was quite mediocre—basically a flashy facade on the surface.

This was the Black River Sovereign’s first impression of the Demon Spirit.

The Demon Spirit only appeared briefly before vanishing without a trace, marking the first appearance of the highest authority from the Demon Clan Army on the Gosiakres battlefield. What exactly transpired, the Black River Sovereign did not know; he only knew that on the third day after the Demon Spirit’s departure, the World Consciousness of Gosiakres vanished completely.

The world began to collapse, and the Demon Tribe began their cleanup operations of the war.

They collected Origin Energy, extracting every usable resource from the world to replenish the Demon Realm’s losses. Everything proceeded in an orderly fashion, as the Demon Tribe executed it with practiced ease. Then it was all about digestion and waiting—Wen Yu wasn’t sure what they waited for, only knowing that about 10 years after the end of Gosiakres’s war, the second war suddenly reinitiated.

However, this time, the Black River Sovereign was no longer an expendable Soot Skin Demon Fiend.

...

Leveraging his father’s connections, the Black River Sovereign smoothly entered the Demon Clan Army, where the role was always safe and easy. Combined with his talents, superiority within the Soot Skin Demon Fiend group, he quickly caught the attention of the then-chief of the Soot Skin Demon Fiend tribe.

He was cultivated, cared for, rewarded to enhance his strength—this process was largely contingent on luck, yet every strong expert rises with astounding fortune. The Black River Sovereign had excellent luck, and he was diligent enough. Plus, the Soot Skin Demon Fiend tribe didn’t have any truly remarkable experts. After many world wars and countless time amassed, the Black River Sovereign finally welcomed the opportunity to change everything.

A chance to advance to become a Level 11 powerful expert!
