Apocalypse: Master of Soul Beasts

Everything was exactly the same as just now.

The energy cluster slammed into the Pitch-dark Screen, letting out a brief hum, and then the Pitch-dark Screen immediately changed.

Darkness extended, instantly wrapping around and enclosing the energy cluster; the cluster rammed left and right within the Pitch-dark Screen, but no matter what, it couldn’t escape Wen Yu’s control.

”We’ve got the goods, let’s move.”

Wen Yu quickly sent out a Spiritual Fluctuation, and the group immediately flew back the way they had come.

...

In the blink of an eye, the group had returned once more to the edge of the world barrier, only this time Wen Yu had an extra energy cluster in his hand, and the team was missing one Ancient Demon.

The darkness energy tightly sealed the cluster in layers. Wen Yu stared at the little thing in his hand, then poured Creation Energy rapidly into the energy cluster.

”Its energy intensity is very high, and there’s a huge amount of Origin Energy inside as well. That’s the fundamental reason this little thing can insta-kill a Level 10 Limit Breakthrough Level demon spawn. But for now I can’t figure out why its attack only affects the flesh, yet is completely powerless against Energy Defense.”

As Wen Yu analyzed the components within the energy cluster, he explained the intelligence he had gleaned to Bai and the others.

A Level 10 Limit Breakthrough Level demon spawn’s physical defense capabilities definitely can’t be weaker than some tools that break Energy Defense; the energy cluster’s attack has very obvious targeting and bias.

”The way this thing exists is indeed similar to a Soul Puppet. Inside it I also found traces of Creation Energy. This thing can be counted as Soul Abiogenetic Creation, but the strange part is, they are masterless, and when I infuse my Creation Energy into its body, I still can’t convert it into my Soul Puppet.”

”They have no intelligence. Strictly speaking, they don’t even qualify as living beings.”

”What do you mean?”

”I mean, these things should originally have been Soul Puppets, but they mutated and became what they are now. Mm, as for what exactly caused them to become like this, I don’t know. But after carefully studying it, I realized this thing is really quite bizarre.”

Wen Yu rubbed his chin, confusion flickering in his eyes.

”The impression it gives me is like a hybrid product of a Level 11 powerful expert and a Soul Puppet. Mm, a Soul Puppet variant, or you could say the ultimate mindless version of a Soul Puppet?”

”Is there a way to deal with it?”

Bai raised the question—he didn’t care about Wen Yu’s research, nor did he care what exactly this energy cluster was. Right now Bai’s head was filled with his own goal and his own mission. He didn’t care what this energy cluster actually was; he only wanted to know how to solve the trouble posed by it.

Hearing Bai’s words, Wen Yu nodded.

”This thing’s weakness is very obvious. Even though we can’t detect their existence or their attack trajectory, they rely on sound to locate their prey, and they have absolutely no resistance to Energy attacks and Energy Defense. As long as we don’t speak and keep our defensive barriers up, these little things are easy to handle.”

As Wen Yu finished speaking, the darkness energy in his hand immediately spread out and crushed the energy cluster in an instant. And at the moment the cluster collapsed, Wen Yu sharply sensed a large amount of Creation Energy and Origin Energy bursting out from inside it. With a simple intake of breath, all these gains were swallowed into his stomach.

The Creation Energy was very little, almost negligible, but the massive influx of Origin Energy into Wen Yu’s body abruptly fused with his three divine beast species innate talents, and in a short time all three of Wen Yu’s species innate talents rose a notch together!

”This Origin Energy... doesn’t belong to the Demon Realm... It’s Origin Energy from other worlds, multiple world Origin Energies mixed together—Origin Energy from those worlds that were previously destroyed by the Demon Tribe!”

A simple judgment formed in Wen Yu’s mind, and at the same time he narrowed his eyes and looked around, gradually forming a deeper speculation about how the energy clusters had come into being.

The Demon Realm was in a tattered state, even its Star was missing half. In such a condition, strictly speaking, the Demon Realm was already dead; naturally it could no longer retain Origin Energy... And the Demon Tribe launching invasion wars was precisely to make up for the Demon Realm’s loss of Origin Energy—to extend the Demon Realm’s life.

How do you extend its life?

As long as the Origin Energy the Demon Tribe plunders exceeds the rate at which the Demon Realm’s own Origin Energy dissipates, the Demon Realm naturally faces no risk of destruction. That is what they call extending its life.

Indeed, here Wen Yu could feel the Demon Realm’s Origin Energy dissipating at every moment. Among it, the Demon Realm’s own Origin Energy had instead become the minority; more of it was the Origin Energy seized by the Demon Tribe. The early energy clusters must undoubtedly have been Soul Puppets, but after being immersed in Origin Energy for a long time, they mutated and turned into these strange things they are now...

But that led to an even greater problem—who sent these Soul Puppets here?

”The Demon Lord? The Demon Spirit?”

These were, as far as Wen Yu knew, the only two besides himself who possessed the Soul Abiogenetic Creation Skill. If it was the Demon Lord, what did he want to do... If it was the Demon Spirit, what did he want to do?

Wen Yu couldn’t figure it out, so he simply pressed the matter down in his heart.

Bai didn’t notice Wen Yu’s little movements. Seeing Wen Yu propose a way to solve the problem, Bai immediately let out a breath of relief.

Problems that can be solved are not problems. As for Harrod’s death, that fell under normal losses, though his rate of attrition was a bit on the fast side...

”Keep moving!”

Bai gave the order, and Wen Yu immediately got up, a resolute look on his face as he followed behind Bai. As for Ye Nan’s Avengers, they were still shaken, but constrained by their yearning for freedom, they had no choice but to follow Bai all the way into the darkness.

...

Wen Yu deliberately stretched out the distance between himself and the team, constantly making sounds along the way to lure the energy clusters in, then hunted them one by one, turning them into his own nourishment.

At this rate, his species innate talent was improving even faster than when Wen Yu used Truth and Illusion. Reality Shift!

It turned out that on the Demon Realm’s profile, the number of these Soul Puppet variants was indeed quite large. All Wen Yu had to do was make a sound, and they would surge over in an endless stream, and their lack of sentience made them the best possible hunting targets.

Leoja was watching this with intense envy—because for a Level 11 powerful expert, the effect of Origin Energy was far from just improving species innate talents. Origin Energy could be said to be the very foundation of a Level 11 powerful expert! However, while Bai couldn’t control Wen Yu, he could control Leoja. Under Bai’s barked orders, Leoja could only stay obediently at Bai’s side.

To enter a treasure mountain yet return empty-handed—that was pretty much Leoja’s real situation at the moment. Meanwhile, Wen Yu just kept raking in the benefits, and without realizing it, the group walked farther and farther on, until waves of heat rolled in ahead, and only then did Bai stop in his tracks.
