Apocalypse: Master of Soul Beasts

The group gathered again; Wen Yu remained calm but said nothing until Leoja and the other two Demon Fiends healed. Only then did the atmosphere become lively once more...

But it wasn’t a good kind of lively, more like an eruption after some kind of stimulation and danger!

”Lord Bai, I want an explanation. This isn’t what was agreed upon beforehand!”

Leoja’s tone was unfriendly, yet his words weren’t overly aggressive. Nevertheless, the two remaining Avengers stood neatly beside Leoja, exuding an air of ”give me an explanation, or I won’t comply.”

Lord Bai merely regarded them with indifference. With just one glance, Leoja retreated several steps, quickly losing the imposing manner he had just displayed.

Bai’s control over these Avengers was absolute; there were no weaknesses. If you don’t want to carry on, you might as well wait here for death. As for an explanation? By saying that, Leoja had already lost his position.

You, a person whose every asset and life is held in someone else’s hands, still want an explanation?

The scene was awkward until Wen Yu spoke up.

”I actually do want an explanation. Hmm, about your plan. It’s not that I’m thinking of backing out, but now I’m somewhat interested in your plan. I wonder if you can satisfy my curiosity?”

Wen Yu was genuinely curious now. The appearance of the Puppet Immortal Emperor, Bai’s understanding of the local environment, the harsh external conditions—these all pointed to the difficulty of the plan. Bai intended to achieve much, but to gain more, one must inevitably sacrifice more. This is an unbreakable truth. Now that everyone was within the Devourer’s stomach, the external environment was relatively safe, allowing Wen Yu to consider the ins and outs of the situation.

Wen Yu’s tone was teasing, like a joke between friends. However, Bai, being so astute, understood Wen Yu’s intentions as soon as he began to speak.

”I’m willing to risk my life with you to repay your kindness, but to die without knowing why—that’s quite unreasonable, wouldn’t you say? At the very least, you should state your goals, so I’m aware of what I’m risking my life for!”

Leoja spoke, and Bai could easily dismiss him, but he couldn’t ignore Wen Yu’s request.

He looked around, then took a tool from his space ring and casually activated it. A dim Energy Shield instantly enveloped them. After a moment, he nodded towards Wen Yu.

”My purpose for coming here is to reconstruct my homeland, the Universe of Immortals and Heroes.”

...

”Towards the end of the Universe of Immortals and Heroes—well, just before the Immortal Emperor fell at the hands of the Dominator—the atmosphere of the whole Universe was still good. At that time, all the Demon Realm’s Gates had been sealed by the Immortal Emperor using supreme power. The war situation was clear; the Universe had deep foundations. Everyone believed the war was nearing its end, and it was only a matter of time before we could drive the Demon Tribe out of the Universe of Immortals and Heroes.”

”However, after a certain outing, everything changed for the Immortal Emperor.”

Bai began to recount everything he knew eloquently, and Wen Yu fell into brief silence. Previously, Wen Yu, through the memories of the Heavenly Dao, had observed the past events in the Universe of Immortals and Heroes. Much of what Bai said was already familiar to Wen Yu.

”First, the seal on the Demon Realm’s Gates was lifted by the Immortal Emperor; then the Emperor secluded himself in meditation. You know, the Level 11 powerful experts of the Demon Realm are numerous, while there are only three in the Universe of Immortals and Heroes. The Immortal Emperor is the strongest; I’m comparable with the Heavenly Dao. Although we’re somewhat stronger than a standard Level 11 expert of the Demon Tribe, one against ten is still the limit. The situation took a sharp turn for the worse, yet at the most dangerous moment, the Immortal Emperor found me and entrusted me with a task...”

At this point, Wen Yu’s gaze flashed, and he asked, ”What task?”

Bai merely smiled and shook his head, then pointed to Wen Yu’s right hand.

”The Almighty Demon Vine...it’s considered a token; it’s also the beginning of this task!”

”The Immortal Emperor was extremely pessimistic about the war’s outcome, clearly stating to me that this war—the Universe of Immortals and Heroes could never win. At the time, I didn’t quite understand the Immortal Emperor’s words. Even though the Immortal Emperor has Tongtian power, not to mention the Level 11 Demon Tribe, even the strongest in the Demon Realm wasn’t a match for the Immortal Emperor in a single clash. But the outcome explained everything; the minor disputes then aren’t worth mentioning now.”

”We should focus back on this task.”

”The Immortal Emperor asserted the inevitable defeat of the Universe of Immortals and Heroes, but as you know, every Level 11 expert is chosen by the will of the planet itself. They’re experts with immense loyalty and love for the world. Both the Immortal Emperor and the Heavenly Dao are determined to protect the world, and I am too. In this aspect, our goals align. Although the Universe of Immortals and Heroes is destined to perish, on the surface, it seems all efforts will come to naught. However, the Immortal Emperor was truly a prodigy; he found a glimmer of hope from a certain death scenario...”

”No, it should be two glimmers of hope...”

At this point, Bai turned to Wen Yu and smiled, saying, ”Doesn’t the Ancient God Palace belong to you?”

Wen Yu’s breath hitched, then he nodded thoughtfully.

”Is this the first of the two glimmers of hope?”

”Correct, the simplest and most straightforward line is to create a Universe Battleship capable of breaking through the planetary barrier, flying into space with some tribesmen to seek the continuation of our race. However, the ultimate result proved this was impractical. It was merely wishful thinking; the Ancient God Palace became a useless burden.”

”As for the second glimmer of hope...it’s much more complex and naturally includes my resurrection.”

...

”At the time, the Immortal Emperor told me, since the Universe of Immortals and Heroes’ destruction is inevitable, we might as well turn it to our advantage. Instead of seeking to preserve the entire world or even the seeds of the world, we’ll adopt a different logic: after the Universe’s destruction, once the Dominator and the Demon Tribe shift their focus to other worlds, we’ll reconstruct the Universe of Immortals and Heroes—it’s very feasible, truly!”

Bai’s eyes lit up with a glow, as if filled with endless anticipation.

”The world comprises three parts—soil, Origin Energy, and life forms!”

”Soil is easy to resolve; the Universe is filled with dust. Life forms are a bit more challenging, but still solvable. Remember the Mirror Demon I took from the Ten Thousand Immortals Alliance’s secret treasury? It sealed the Souls of 9999 boys and 9999 girls. As long as their bodies are reconstructed, they are the continuation of the Universe of Immortals and Heroes! But the most difficult, without a doubt, is the Origin Energy of the Universe of Immortals and Heroes...”

”Reconstructing a world requires a terrifying amount of Origin Energy! I can’t hunt massively for the treasure land’s natives’ Origin Energy, as that’ll be noticed by the Dominator. So the only remaining option is to come to the Demon Realm’s Core and extract the portion of Origin Energy belonging to the Universe of Immortals and Heroes!”

”You’ve seen the Demon Realm’s profile; it’s mixed with countless worlds’ Origin Energy, including a portion belonging to the Universe of Immortals and Heroes. As long as I delve into the Demon Realm’s Core, I’m confident I can extract this part of the Universe of Immortals and Heroes’ Origin Energy!”

”When the three components are combined, the reconstruction plan of the Universe of Immortals and Heroes is complete. The remaining tasks are simply some straightforward follow-up work...”

”Do you understand now? The beginning of the whole plan is you. You brought the Almighty Demon Vine to the Heavenly Palace to awaken us, starting the plan. The executor is me; I seized your Earth Human Race’s body and planned step by step to get here, while the plan’s mastermind is the Almighty Immortal Emperor. You’re the successor of the Immortal Emperor... Uh, let’s reluctantly count you as a successor. I sincerely hope you help me.”

Bai’s words flowed like a waterfall, and at last, Bai looked intently at Wen Yu, anticipating his response. Wen Yu was silent for a moment before finally letting out a light sigh.

”Tell me everything you know... the more, the better...”
