Apocalypse: Master of Soul Beasts

It was as if he had crossed two worlds.

In the instant he crossed the world barrier, the scene before his eyes underwent a sudden change—the other side of the world barrier was an endless plain, although there wasn’t much life, there were still some plants and flowers, and other life forms of the Demon Realm. However, after just passing through a layer of the barrier, what stretched out in front was a desolate desert.

Wen Yu stood at the edge of the world barrier, the sight full of yellow sand, the scorching air continuously drilling into his nostrils, the smell of gunpowder spreading everywhere. This air environment was even worse than the terrible Demon Realm!

Vaguely, Wen Yu could even sense the malice pervading the air!

After briefly surveying the surroundings, Wen Yu turned his head to look at the distance, where Bai and Ye Nan, along with Ye Nan’s Avengers, were already floating above the yellow sand, quietly waiting for Wen Yu.

”Is this the destination?”

Wen Yu approached and asked Bai, only to be met with Bai’s shaking head. Bai looked into the distance, then raised his hand and pointed.

”Over there is my actual destination.”

Wen Yu was puzzled, while Bai simply squinted his eyes and explained leisurely.

”The Demon Realm is a hemispherical celestial body, but it wasn’t like this from the start.”

As Bai spoke, white light gradually brightened in his hand. The white light seemed tangible as it quickly condensed into a spherical object.

”This is the original Demon Realm.”

After Bai finished speaking, he lightly slid his finger, and the light ball in his hand was instantly divided into two halves, one half gradually dissipating until it completely vanished, while the other half still hovered in the air.

”This is the current Demon Realm. But as for why this happened, I’m not quite sure. You understand now, right?”

Bai explained it in an easy-to-understand manner. There was no longer any reason for Wen Yu not to understand.

”So, you are saying, are we now at this position?”

Wen Yu pointed to the edge of the section of the sphere and asked, to which Bai only nodded lightly, then pointed again to the center of the section.

”Here, theoretically, is the core of each world. Originally, for a normal celestial body, to reach the world’s core, you would need to dig and tunnel, much like an Origin Extraction Device. But that method is not only inefficient, it also creates a lot of noise. Once we do that, there’s no way we could avoid the eyes of a Level 11 Demon Races expert. However, the unique shape of the Demon Realm allows us to proceed through the world barrier, directly reaching the world’s core without any interference from powerful experts of the Demon Tribe.”

”And this time, my target is the core of the Demon Realm...”

Listening to Bai’s explanation, Wen Yu squinted his eyes and remained silent for a long time, hesitating before speaking.

”This... seems very difficult, don’t forget, there are gods in this world...”

”Of course I know that.”

Bai waved away the simulated image of the Demon Realm in his hand. He only nodded slightly, a moment later abruptly letting out a chuckle.

”Trust me, I have prepared for all this. We don’t need to face the majesty of a Level 12 expert directly. You just need to escort me to the core of the Demon Realm, and this favor will be repaid. We’ll owe each other nothing, and I might even give you more.”

”Escort? Didn’t you say we wouldn’t encounter interference from any Demon Fiends here?”

”Those outside indeed can’t interfere with us, they can’t even come here, but I never said there were no living beings on this section...”

Bai’s voice lingered on, and Wen Yu only silently sensed everything around them.

Wen Yu temporarily sensed no creatures, but the death aura and killing intent in the air made his entire body involuntarily break out in goosebumps.

The ominous premonition sprouted once again. Initially, Wen Yu just thought this was a psychological hint given by the world barrier to deter any demon spawn attempting to probe its secrets. However, after entering this side of the world barrier, Wen Yu vaguely felt that perhaps it wasn’t the case...

Everything here harbored intense malice towards Wen Yu—no, it should be towards all life. That instinctual sense of danger kept reminding Wen Yu that he needed to leave this place as soon as possible.

”Sigh...”

After a long silence, Wen Yu sighed.

”Take my advice, let’s go back. This place gives me a very bad feeling...”

But Bai just shook his head. He pointed to Ye Nan and his ranks of Avengers once more and said, ”I’ve prepared for such a long time, I can’t just give up now. And without Ye Nan, you alone can’t open the world barrier. But this isn’t a threat, I’m merely stating my stance. Actually, this operation isn’t really dangerous for you. If anything happens, I will have Ye Nan and his Avengers take the brunt of it. With this time, we can leisurely activate the Boundary Cracking Device and return to Earth. Once it’s done, I promise to give you many benefits. Believe me, my collection is absolutely abundant.”

Wen Yu remained silent, until Bai confided candidly to him.

”Normally, a Level 11 powerful expert shouldn’t be much of a threat to you. I guess what you’re really worried about is the presence of the Demon Lord. I know a lot about the Demon Lord, very much so in fact. Believe me, he didn’t bring you to Rebirth just for you to die here. In fact, strictly speaking, you are actually safer here than up there.”

These words made Wen Yu contemplate for a long while.

...

In the end, what convinced Wen Yu was Bai’s sincerity.

Level 11 magic crystals, all sourced from Treasure Land Protectors during the Universe of Immortals and Heroes era, while The Faceless’s progress hadn’t been going well. These items resolved the last hurdle in Wen Yu’s return plan.

Moreover, without Ye Nan, Wen Yu’s only remaining option to leave was to use the Boundary Cracking Device to return to Earth. At this moment, Bai resolved Wen Yu’s immediate imperative, and Wen Yu wasn’t someone to turn against others after receiving benefits. He just made an agreement with Bai that he would withdraw immediately if things turned unfavorable, then returned to the end of the team.

The group stood once more on the desert land. Bai looked into the distance, and only after a long time did he speak again.

”This place is different from the Demon Realm.”

”For the past few years, through certain channels, I’ve also learned some secrets about this place. Now, I can only tell you that everything here is different from the world above. The ecological environment is bizarre, the creatures extremely fierce. Here, all our connections with the world above are cut off by the world barrier. As previously mentioned, Leoja, as long as you escort me to the designated location, I will have Ye Nan help you revoke the contract. I, Bai, always keep my word!”

Hearing Bai’s promise, the eyes of Ye Nan’s Avengers gleamed—hatred was like poison, piercing to the bone. However, only after losing their freedom did they realize what was truly precious.

As for how to return afterward... to these Avengers, it was a problem for later. Besides, in their eyes, with their own strength, there was no way they would easily perish here, right?

Don’t be ridiculous, a Level 10 Breakthrough Achiever is quite valuable! Given the Demon Realm’s harsh ecological environment, as long as they don’t court disaster, they could live fairly comfortably. Not to mention, there’s an Eleventh Level Old Monster and an even stronger Wen Yu among them!

Looking at the Avengers eager for action, the corner of Bai’s mouth lightly curled into a smile. He waved a large hand and said, ”Let’s go,” then led the way flying deeper into the section.

While Wen Yu was merely trailing leisurely at the back of the group, looking at the star-filled sky, the sense of crisis deep in his heart grew more intense.

This place is not a benevolent land...
