Apocalypse: Master of Soul Beasts

”Wen Yu, it’s time.”

As the voice sounded, Wen Yu had already sorted everything out. He stood up, walked to the door, and opened it. Accompanied by the dim light, Bai’s bloodshot eyes came into view.

At this moment, Bai’s expression no longer held the excitement and enthusiasm it did a few days earlier, but his reddened eyes clearly showed the excitement he felt deep inside. Wen Yu glanced at Bai briefly and then looked behind him.

Ye Nan, Leoja, and the remaining Avengers of Ye Nan... This was the entire personnel for this operation.

”Let’s go.”

Wen Yu said simply, and Bai turned into a white flash, flying towards the distance. Wen Yu and the others immediately followed closely.

...

The flight direction was east—indicating that the destination of this operation was still within the Desolate Border.

Wen Yu wasn’t quite sure what Bai’s intentions were, but as Bai flew farther, a sense of foreboding suddenly arose in Wen Yu’s heart.

This feeling was like standing before a thousand-foot chasm, just a step away from falling into an irreversible abyss—a vague premonition of danger.

Wen Yu wasn’t clear why he suddenly had such an illusion. Upon examining it further, he found that the feeling came quickly and disappeared just as fast; within moments, it vanished without a trace. Wen Yu simply thought that it was because he had been too idle over the past three years and had become overly cautious now that things were happening.

He simply buried this illusion in his heart and relaxed as he flew behind the others, until after about half an hour of flying, they reached their destination.

”We’ve arrived.”

Bai was the first to stop, looking intently at the enormous barrier radiating multicolored lights when a sudden voice sounded in his ear.

”Is this it?”

Wen Yu looked ahead, his eyes narrowing ever tighter.

”This is it.”

Bai nodded gently until Wen Yu’s gaze fell upon Bai’s body.

”Isn’t this the Endless Void of the Demon Realm—the barrier between worlds?”

Bai still nodded but didn’t respond any further until he was the first to move forward slowly to the front of the world barrier.

”Behind this is our destination...”

It was not until then that Bai explained the final destination of their operation.

...

Wen Yu didn’t understand why Bai wanted to explore what lay behind the Demon Realm’s world barrier. In truth, Wen Yu also didn’t want to know these things. He simply raised his hand slightly, casting out a wave of darkness energy that struck the world barrier, instantly exploding like fireworks only to be annihilated by some unknown force.

A simple probe—Wen Yu had conducted such a probe before, and this time he repeated it just to remind Bai.

”Look, even an attack launched with my power is completely obliterated by this world barrier. This thing always gives me a sense of danger. I think your plan is not very reliable; wanting to pass through the world barrier to reach the other side is nothing but wishful thinking.”

Wen Yu casually expressed his thoughts—He truly believed that exploring these things was utterly futile. However, Bai simply smiled lightly, turning to look at Wen Yu with a declarative tone and raised his own query.

”Since when did you, Wen Yu, get scared by a mere barrier?”

Wen Yu simply shook his head...

”It’s just that...”

Halfway through his sentence, Wen Yu suddenly furrowed his brows.

”Is there no need? Or is it no big deal?”

Bai’s words pushed persistently. Although Bai’s words weren’t polite, Wen Yu felt no anger, only furrowing his brows pondering the hidden meaning in Bai’s words.

Until a flash of insight passed through Wen Yu’s mind.

Wen Yu suddenly raised his head, staring intently at the world barrier, and murmured in a low voice, ”This Demon Realm and the world barrier seem to have issues...”

...

The Demon Realm is hemispherical.

Indeed, this is no secret—even Leoja knows the overall shape of the Demon Realm.

Although the Demon Realm is vast, as large as a star, this scale doesn’t represent an insurmountable distance in the eyes of high-level professionists—for instance, Wen Yu can circle Earth several times in one minute with his power. With such speed, how long would a tour around a star-sized celestial body take, even if it’s to travel the world? Just the time to finish a meal?

In the eyes of powerful experts, the world is small, even a tiered battleground as large as the Solar System isn’t considered big.

However, the peculiarity lies in this point—in the Demon Realm, no one has ever wondered why the Demon Realm is a hemispherical celestial body. It’s as if there’s some psychological limit that even Level 11 powerful experts would unconsciously ignore this anomaly.

After Wen Yu came to the Demon Realm, he immediately changed species and, when he obtained the Demon Realm map from Leoja, he felt only slight curiosity about the world barrier. However, after a glance, he quickly shelved the issue—like an ordinary person encountering a natural wonder who merely marvels at such spectacular scenery without delving into the principles behind its formation.

Wen Yu could use phrases like ”it’s irrelevant to me” or ”I have no desire to explore the Demon Realm” to explain this mindset, but upon reconsidering, Wen Yu became even more confounded by his recent words.

His initial intention for attacking the world barrier was merely to persuade Bai to abandon the operation. Indeed, the problem lies here; the world barrier is merely a barrier after all. Wen Yu’s desire for Bai to abandon his long-prepared plan because of a barrier or some dead object is illogical.

Just as Wen Yu is indifferent to exploring the world barrier, Bai wants to explore the world beyond the barrier, then he should go ahead; what difference does it make to Wen Yu? And since Bai intends to explore beyond the world barrier, he certainly has a way to tackle the world barrier. Wen Yu always harbors a mysterious confidence in Bai’s methods—Bai is a monster whose intellect and emotional intelligence rival Lin Haifeng’s!

As thoughts cycled through his mind, Wen Yu immediately perceived the strangeness throughout the Demon Realm—it seemed as if a vague mental hint constantly lingered, even though he deeply doubted the existence of the Demon Realm. That eerie hint kept warning all of the Demon Tribe not to seek the reason, and it even suggested all of the Demon Tribe prevent others from exploring this secret.

When Wen Yu transformed into a demon spawn, this hint took effect, unconsciously affecting his behavior.

”So, you’ve realized the problem, haven’t you?”

Wen Yu just nodded, and at the same time, a profound sense of crisis suddenly rose in his heart again.
