Apocalypse: Master of Soul Beasts

Sure enough, Bai merely shook his head.

”The first theory might be true, but I think it’s likely just nonsense. Although no world has ever escaped the clutches of the Demon Tribe, and the Dominator does indeed not stand on the invaded world’s side, the two are in league...this theory doesn’t hold up.”

”Comparatively, I think the second theory makes more sense. The Demon Tribe has methods to restrain the Dominator. No, that’s not quite correct. Let me tell you about the Immortal Emperor’s deduction.”

”All along, we’ve thought the professionist system originated from the Dominator...but the Demon Tribe is indeed a peculiar existence. They possess the power of professionists, and to some extent, can use certain tools. They are positioned between professionists and mutant creatures, yet fundamentally, they are not much different from professionists.”

”Back then, the Immortal Emperor hypothesized — suppose, the professionist system and Exchange Stone Pillar actually come from another unknown existence higher than the Dominator and the Demon Lord. This existence has no consciousness, no concepts of good or evil, just a super tool. The Dominator controls the majority of this super tool’s authority, while the Demon Lord controls a small part of it. This could explain why the Demon Tribe, despite being under the professionist system, is entirely unaffected by the Dominator’s control.”

”Because the Dominator cannot control the Demon Tribe, as this is the Demon Lord’s domain — a super powerful expert equally with rights to manage the professionist system...and this should be the root of the conflict between the Demon Lord and the Dominator.”

After hearing Bai’s explanation, Wen Yu pondered for a moment but then shook his head.

”I don’t think that’s right, not the previous part, but regarding the conflict between the Dominator and the Demon Lord. The Demon Tribe’s purpose is straightforward; they need Origin Energy. After arriving in the Demon Realm, I discovered their need for Origin Energy is surprisingly simple—it’s merely to sustain the life of their own world.”

The Demon Realm is dying, while Origin Energy is the core force of a world and shares the same nature. Using other worlds’ Origin Energy to sustain their own world’s will—don’t mention the Demon Tribe—if such a situation arises, no one would sacrifice themselves for others. Even if Wen Yu encountered such a miserable plight, he would probably immediately seek to ravage another world.

This is the extension of a race, the propagation of life, an instinct embedded in the genes of living creatures!

Of course, Wen Yu isn’t trying to vindicate the Demon Tribe. Their positions are inherently oppositional, which cannot be justified, but to say who is right or wrong...that question becomes philosophical.

Such matters don’t determine right or wrong, it’s all about perspective.

Facing Wen Yu’s debate, Bai merely shrugged: ”These are all the judgments of the Immortal Emperor; I don’t know whether they’re right or wrong. But let’s return to the topic, to this Alchemy Formula.”

Upon mentioning this, Bai shook the test tube, and the three crystals within, nurtured by Wen Yu’s blood, had already merged over halfway—mainly with the Demon Realm’s Core fragment. Given the merger’s extent, Wen Yu could see the final product probably would look identical to the black crystal atop the demon spawn’s head.

”What does this indicate?”

”Just confirmed the previous viewpoint, the capability to mutually merge proves they belong to the same origin, and the things the Immortal Emperor once did also proved the effect of such things. Indeed, they can allow any life form—not just professionists—to break free from the Dominator’s control. However, there is another issue.”

Bai’s tone was filled with helplessness, causing Wen Yu’s heart to sink.

”What issue?”

”This one!”

Bai looked at Wen Yu, and then suddenly a large rift opened on his forehead, while a pure black crystal appeared, like a third eye, glimmering with shimmering Black Light.

”Do you know what this represents?”

Wen Yu suddenly realized, he already understood the issue Bai was trying to convey...

”Demon spawn, is that right...”

”Exactly, this thing represents the identity of a demon spawn. So let’s put it this way, once you choose to merge with this, you become part of the Demon Tribe, a simple logic, right? Since the Demon Tribe isn’t under the Dominator’s control and management, then we should turn into Demon Fiends, see, this is how the entire Alchemy Formula operates...to alter your species!”

”The only way?”

”As far as I know, this is the only way...”

Faced with Bai’s words, Wen Yu was silent for a long while, then he laughed and shook his head.

”Change it, go ahead and change it, actually, it was me who fixated on it, the so-called species, only depends on one’s own mind, where my heart resides, there’s my homeland. It has nothing to do with life form...”

”Hey, that’s the right way to think!”

Bai’s face was full of contentment, at their level, whether human or demon doesn’t depend on external life forms, but on one’s thoughts. Superficial things are of little importance — just like Cyclops during the Great Feast, even though Cyclops becomes less dog-like, who can deny he’s a dog?

If he believes he is a dog, then he is a dog...who dares object?

Moreover, like Bai hides the black crystal in his skull routinely, no one would see that Wen Yu isn’t human. To escape the control of the Dominator, that’s a huge gain, as for the changes in appearance, those are merely minor matters.

Wen Yu has made up his mind, but Bai speaks once more.

”Actually, there is another problem here.”

”Another problem?”

Bai nodded solemnly and said with a smile: ”This concerns the secret of Level 11 and the Second Anchor problem.”

The secret of Level 11, Wen Yu understands what’s happening, but the Second Anchor...just hearing about it gives a bad feeling.

”Returning to the earlier topic, about the species, do you understand why Level 11 powerful experts are labeled transcendental? Do you understand why all Treasure Land Protectors of the Dominator are Level 11 powerful experts?”

Wen Yu simply shook his head, while Bai merely sighed and said.

”Transcendence, transcendence...these two words bear significant meaning. On one hand, it’s a certain extent of breaking free from some restrictions within the professionist system, such as conceptual ability. On the other hand, it’s also breaking free from this Second Anchor.”

”The bondage from the mother star!”

”Bondage from the mother star?”

Wen Yu opened his mouth wide...about this secret, perhaps besides Bai, no other person on Earth knows...

”Yes, precisely the bondage from the mother star. First, you need to understand the relationship between life forms and the mother star; put it nicely, it’s dependence; put it harshly, it’s parasitism. Think about it, can normal creatures survive independently from the mother star without external help?”
