Apocalypse: Master of Soul Beasts

A busy day began.

Evan crawled out from the damp bedding, which hadn’t been cleaned for who knows how long, bleary-eyed as he brushed his teeth and washed his face. He selected a not-so-dirty set of clothes from a heap of old clothes and put them on, then headed to the cafeteria. After having breakfast and chatting with some colleagues, he and a few others headed to the new laboratory together.

Everything seemed no different from usual. Hm, it’s just a change of person...

The entire Space Laboratory was massive. Even the journey from the cafeteria to the laboratory required magic energy vehicles for transport. However, as a Level 1 researcher, Evan had some status and position in the Space Laboratory, and personal transport benefits were naturally guaranteed.

The magic energy vehicle sped along the steel streets, and in no time, it arrived at Evan’s new workplace.

”Demon Realm’s Gate Research Institute...”

Well, well, a renowned place, the most powerful weapon for the Demon Realm’s invasion of other worlds— the Demon Realm’s Gate, was developed here. But Wen Yu wasn’t interested in these things; he merely followed Evan’s example, walked into the research building, and met the big shot here...

Reportedly Evan’s nemesis— Niss.

A particularly disgusting tentacle creature!

...

”Welcome, my friend!”

Sticky tentacles wrapped around Wen Yu, the countless suckers on the eight tentacles making Wen Yu feel numb and itchy. Wen Yu could even feel one tentacle sliding down his waist, reaching a certain mysterious place...

”WTF...”

”Huh? My dear Evan, what did you say?”

”I said I’m also very happy...”

Wen Yu quickly freed himself from Niss’s tentacles, looking at the face resembling a squid’s, his mind buzzing uncontrollably. He could even hear the low laughter of the onlookers around.

Taking a deep breath, Wen Yu suppressed his inner anger, turned his gaze back to Niss, and said in a mild tone, ”Niss, assign me some work. My scientific research soul is burning bright!”

Such melodramatic words didn’t elicit any response. These researchers, raised in the Demon Palace, only had one mission their entire life— scientific research. That was their everything...

And Niss just wobbled his tentacles, as if nodding in agreement.

”Follow me; from now on, you’ll be in charge of the bidirectional transmission improvements for the Demon Realm’s Gate. Oh, by the way...”

Saying this, Niss leaned in close to Wen Yu and whispered mysteriously.

”My dear, now that you’re here, you’ll never escape my grasp again...”

His response was simply Wen Yu’s soft laughter.

”I’m looking forward to it too...”

...

The technology of the Demon Realm is far more advanced than that of Earth; this is an indisputable fact.

For example, the Demon Realm’s Gate— when it appeared on Earth, it amazed the whole world... Yet, in the Demon Realm, it was just a creation from countless years ago. As the Demon Tribe constantly conquers other worlds and absorbs their technology, the Demon Realm’s Gate has undergone countless improvements.

Just like now, the position Niss assigned to Evan— bidirectional transmission improvements for the Demon Realm’s Gate.

In their vision, the Demon Realm’s Gate should be like a normal door through which any Demon Fiend can pass freely. Once this improvement is completed, the strategic value of the Demon Realm’s Gate will significantly increase, and its significance will be substantial.

However, Wen Yu personally found all this quite perplexing.

Although Wen Yu absorbed all of Evan’s memories, he hadn’t delved into and digested the scientific research aspect— for Evan, this was his pride and survival, but it was useless to Wen Yu.

Wen Yu didn’t need to do Evan’s work; he just needed to borrow an identity.

So, in the spacious laboratory, Wen Yu merely met his nominal ”subordinates” and checked the research equipment, briefly looked at some materials, and then sat in the office resting his eyes.

He was like an oversized salted fish...

But deep down, Wen Yu’s thoughts kept spinning incessantly, continuously contemplating the next plan of action until the working hours slipped by— it was time to clock off.

...

When the time to clock off arrived, Wen Yu immediately packed up and left the office.

Instead of heading to the cafeteria, he went straight to Niss’s office, under the astonished and teasing gazes of onlookers, Wen Yu slowly knocked on the door of Niss’s office.

”Come in!”

Niss’s voice sounded, then the door opened...

To outsiders, Niss had long ”admired” Evan, and now Evan’s actions seemed like walking into the trap!

Still working, Niss saw Evan’s figure at the door and put on a sickening smile, nodding at Wen Yu while extending a tentacle to gesture him in.

This was roughly what a report between superiors and subordinates looked like.

As Wen Yu walked into the room, the door closed, cutting off the curious gazes from outside.

”Are you getting used to the environment here?”

Niss asked, seemingly a kind and amiable superior, however, his irregularly moving tentacles betrayed Niss’s true thoughts.

”It’s alright...”

Wen Yu shyly avoided Niss’s tentacles, like a girl about to be violated, which undoubtedly made Niss’s ”lust” flare up. Seeing Evan, whom he had long admired, only dodging but not making any more intense movements, Niss’s tentacles waved even more vigorously.

”Umm... don’t you have surveillance here?”

”Ha, my dear, rest assured, I’m the big boss here; who dares to install surveillance in my room! Moreover, my room can block external perception, our good deeds, haha... Ensure only heaven knows, earth knows, you and I know...”

Niss spoke boldly, afterward, he saw Evan in front of him smile lightly...

”That’s good then...”

The next moment, Niss blacked out, knowing nothing.

...

”Aaaaaahhh!!!”

A piercing scream echoed from Niss’s office, and as people outside burst in, they saw a panicked Niss and Evan lying on the floor.

At that moment, Niss couldn’t even speak clearly, merely trembling and waving his tentacles, pointing at Evan on the ground, stammering.

”We... were reporting work... he suddenly just collapsed...”

”Doctor! Doctor!”

The scene descended into chaos...
