Apocalypse: Master of Soul Beasts

Tyros left the Ancient Archive with a warm farewell from the old guard.

He exited the archive, started the magic-powered vehicle at the entrance, and as the car slowly moved, Tyros began to recall the moments spent with Director Agou.

No problem... Everything seems to be just fine...

So, can Agou’s suspicion be ruled out?

Not likely!

Tyros slowly curled a faint smile at the corner of his mouth, and from the rear-view mirror, he could see the full view of the Ancient Archive, which now resembled a deserted ancient building akin to a fearsome beast’s lair!

The target was clear, the infiltrator must have taken over Director Agou’s identity; the simple goal was all laid out by the captive—Filna had explained everything explicitly.

Their target is Demon Palace Basement Level 999, known only to a few insiders; such places as libraries and archives have rough information about these locales.

Some things, some calculations, are hardly worth mentioning when stated out loud—since their ultimate goal is the Demon Palace Level 999, then it stands to reason that whoever has access to this information is the most suspicious?

For Tyros, Agou is a key figure to investigate; initially, Tyros deemed Agou’s suspicion to be minimal, especially since he was at the One Eared Crook Bar at the time of the Secretary-General’s death. If Tyros were to assume Wen Yu’s identity, he would surely set the Secretary-General’s death place far away, trying to eliminate Agou’s criminal suspicion, yet upon meeting Agou, Tyros immediately sensed something amiss.

It wasn’t Wen Yu playing Agou who revealed any flaw... Just because of intuition...

In the Security Bureau, Tyros has a nickname—Mr. Keen; countless major cases have been cracked due to Tyros’ sharp intuition, just like this time, although Wen Yu acted perfectly composed and flawless in every regard, Tyros’ intuition kept warning him to quickly distance from this person!

Thus, for Tyros, the situation was crystal clear...

When it comes to impersonation tricks, for soul-type powerful experts, there are practically millions of methods, combined with the intelligence provided by Filna, everything becomes so clear.

Powerful methods... yet not exquisitely delicate, a cautious style of operation...

To this, Tyros merely smiled wryly.

”Seems like someone underestimated me...”

...

Wen Yu indeed underestimated the Demon Tribe within the Demon Palace, though it can’t exactly be called underestimation; it’s just that some things admittedly were done imperfectly.

For instance, placing the crime scene and the next target for impersonation farther apart...

The Demon Tribe residing within the Demon Palace is countless, merely in a super city like Nileth, there are nearly a hundred large and small Demon Palaces distributed, some politician’s death is in Wen Yu’s view no big deal at all—birth, aging, sickness, and death are common, naturally each day in Nileth there are not to mention deaths, but dozens of thousands.

Everything should have been silent and flawless, yet Wen Yu calculated a bit off.

That is, others don’t have as many means as Wen Yu...

With the scale of the Demon Palace, Wen Yu and company of six are akin to a drop of rain in the ocean, stirring no splash, in reality even with Wen Yu’s capabilities, the thought wasn’t to forcefully charge into the Origin Pool, but to infiltrate step by step in such manner, yet Wen Yu hasn’t been exposed, doesn’t mean others haven’t.

Just like captured Filna, a typical pig teammate—not only caught by the Security Bureau, but also spilled all that he knew.

With the intelligence, coupled with everything occurring in Nileth, the matter becomes crystal clear, as dumb as the Demon Palace Security Bureau might be, it’s not possible they couldn’t piece together the frame...

Thus, for Wen Yu, exposure has become inevitable...

He locked the office door, not hiding at all as he unleashed his perception ability, sensing no one was watching his actions around him, Wen Yu pondered for a moment, then immediately released Agou’s corpse from the Netherworld.

Wen Yu didn’t know whether Tyros had picked up on anything amiss just now, but since the information was in hand, Agou’s identity was no longer useful to Wen Yu.

Better to just stop, no longer play these identity conversion tricks.

Thinking and acting upon it, Wen Yu placed Agou directly on the bed, simultaneously activating the Heaven-covering Robe’s aura concealment effect, his figure slowly disappeared on the spot, then transformed into pure darkness moving outward, eventually stopping at a remote concealed location.

”Let’s see how you find me this time...”

Having completed these, Wen Yu thought with a hint of pride, then retrieved the information he gathered from the space ring for detailed examination.

...

Director Agou’s death was discovered by Torre ten hours later.

Everything appeared silent; Agou was merely a minor figure, coupled with having no relatives, after Tyros came to the Ancient Archive for a brief look, there was no further action taken.

Meanwhile, far away in another district’s sewer, Wen Yu had finished reviewing the materials on hand, memorized everything, and then destroyed the information, before activating aura concealment and flying straight towards a certain place.

...

Nileth is located at Demon Palace Basement Level 824, according to the information, there are 31 passageways to Level 825.

However, as these are ancient archives, now the general layout of the Demon Palace, having undergone countless renovations, already differs somewhat from what’s shown in the archives—out of the 31 lower level entrances, 18 have been abandoned and decommissioned, while 21 new entrances have been opened.

This intelligence, Wen Yu could not obtain, but this time Wen Yu’s luck was quite decent, managing to find one intact lower level passageway in one go.

On the surface, it appears to merely be a dry well, yet internally it’s a giant passage connecting two levels, although somewhat worn, the functionality remains intact.

The journey from Level 824 to Level 825 isn’t long, and during this process, Wen Yu sharply sensed what seemed like a transfer dizziness, proving that the so-called layering isn’t simply upper-lower tiered as in architecture, but rather employing some powerful spatial technology.

One minute later, Wen Yu completely left Nileth, arriving at the barren cemetery of Demon Palace Basement Level 825—essentially a gigantic graveyard...

After a brief glance to ensure no danger around, Wen Yu then stopped and gently stroked his chin twice.

After a while, dim purple light appeared beside Wen Yu. Accompanied by the flash, Wen Yu then followed the records in the information, moving once again.
