Apocalypse: Master of Soul Beasts

Chapter 361: Chapter 150: The Jumping Clown (Part 1)_1

”Kuangliu, help me...,”

”I can’t!”

”I’m... going to collapse...”

Upon hearing Wen Yu’s ”miserable” plea for help, Kuangliu immediately clutched the test paper in his hand.

”This trial doesn’t allow cheating, have you forgotten? If we’re caught, our trial fails immediately, and we have to wait another hour to restart.”

Wen Yu sighed helplessly.

”I know, but what kind of trial is a 100-idiom chain challenge!!!”

The two were currently on the 18th floor of the Demon Suppressing Tower.

Moreover, they had clearly discovered that the so-called Demon Suppressing Tower wasn’t for suppressing Demon Fiends, but for suppressing ”trialists”!

The rewards were sparse, and the combat intensity wasn’t high—in fact, it didn’t involve combat at all. Moreover, and most importantly, there was no danger to life whatsoever!

It had to be said—Protector Number 1’s calculations were ringing loud and clear!

This treasure land was nothing but a prison, a complete waste of time and energy.

”Right, we’ve been here almost a day, haven’t we?”

Kuangliu looked at the military wristwatch on his wrist and confirmed.

”We haven’t even hit twelve hours yet. At this pace, we’ll clear all one thousand floors of the Demon Suppressing Tower in less than a month, provided you stop trying to cheat. How on earth did you pass primary school Language Arts???”

The crisp sound of a notification—”Due to plagiarism, this challenge has failed. Please continue in one hour.”—rang in his ears, and Kuangliu couldn’t stop himself from loudly berating Wen Yu.

Wen Yu was also quite dejected.

”My Language Arts was always terrible... that’s why my parents changed my name to Wen Yu.”

”What was your original name then?”

”Would you believe me if I said my original name was Wen Aotian?”

”Heh heh, so you’re Wen Aotian! I’ve long admired your reputation!”

”You flatter me, you flatter me.”

It went without saying that trapping two ”Martial Artists” in this bizarre and infuriating treasure land was a special kind of torture for them.

Wen Yu was relatively alright; Kuangliu, however, was a different matter. Unaware of what trump card Lin Haifeng held, and worried about the situation outside, Kuangliu was growing increasingly agitated. It was for this reason that Wen Yu kept up a stream of banter, trying to prevent Kuangliu’s mental state from deteriorating.

Wen Yu also didn’t want to be stuck with a ticking time bomb, especially after learning they would be together for over a month!

...

Currently, the situation in the Yanjing Assembly Site was indeed not promising. Of course, that was only true to a certain extent.

Having just ended his communication with Sequence Number 1, Lin Haifeng held a teacup as he slowly walked to the window. He watched as flames and explosions continuously erupted in the outer city zone of the Yanjing Assembly Site, yet he remained utterly unfazed.

”First, they should incite turmoil in the outer city zone when the main military forces head to the Demon Capital Assembly Site.”

...

”Deploy the believers of the Demon Worship Sect in the Yanjing Assembly Site! Once the main military troops leave, they are to immediately disrupt the order of the entire Yanjing Assembly Site!”

Hearing Peng Jun’s words, a hesitant voice came from the other end of the communicator.

”But, sir, we haven’t cultivated many high-ranking believers. I’m afraid the turmoil won’t reach the inner city zone and central district...”

Peng Jun pondered for a moment, then said decisively, ”The bigger the scene, the better. If it’s only the outer city zone, then the outer city zone it is!”

”Understood!”

Peng Jun had developed the Demon Worship Sect right under the military’s nose precisely for this moment!

To Peng Jun, the so-called Demon Worship Sect was merely a tool and a weapon.

...

”Notify the remaining military and police forces to suppress the rioters. The entire Yanjing Assembly Site is to enter Level 1 battle readiness. All non-military personnel on the streets are to be executed immediately!”

This was Lin Haifeng’s response plan: simple, brutal, bloody, and inhumane! But it worked!

Lin Haifeng watched as the Yanjing Assembly Site’s remaining forces headed toward the outer city zone. He took another sip of tea and muttered, ”The second step should be to activate your moles within the Yanjing Assembly Site, then either wipe out all remaining military forces or cause an even greater disturbance.”

As if in response to Lin Haifeng’s voice, the doors of the Science Academy in the inner city zone suddenly swung open. One team after another of human clone warriors surged toward the remaining military forces heading for the outer city zone. Each warrior held the Academy’s newly developed individual firearms.

In an instant, a violent surge of energy enveloped the entire inner city zone. Countless screams and explosions filled the air. These sounds were far more intense than the explosions in the outer city zone just moments ago!

...

”During the turmoil in the outer city zone, someone will contact you. I need you to eliminate all remaining military forces!”

The communicator on the other end was silent for a long moment before an elderly voice finally replied.

”Peng Jun, you should understand that the human clone warriors under my command are no match for professionists. No matter their numbers, it’s hard for them to contend with military forces.”

Peng Jun, however, was full of confidence.

”Don’t worry. At that time, there won’t be many powerful experts or military forces left in the Yanjing Assembly Site. With human clone warriors, high-tech weapons, and self-destruct tactics, even if you can’t win, you can at least tie them down.”

”But... but...”

Hearing the hesitation from the other end of the communicator, Peng Jun couldn’t help but sneer.

”But what? Dean Feng Guansheng, don’t you forget, the leverage I have on you is enough for Lin Haifeng to kill you a hundred times over! If he doesn’t die, then I will. And if I die, I’m definitely taking you with me! So, what’s your ’but’ now?”

On the other end of the communicator, Feng Guansheng hesitated, unable to utter a word.

Peng Jun’s tone softened slightly. ”Don’t worry, Old Feng,” he said slowly. ”We go way back. When I control the entire military, you’ll certainly get your share of the benefits.”

Feng Guansheng on the other end seemed to make up his mind. ”Alright! But what if the forces at my disposal aren’t enough to defeat the remaining military...”

”They definitely will be!”

After Peng Jun finished speaking, he promptly disconnected the communicator, snorting coldly to himself, ”What a fool, incapable of achieving anything great! Still thinking of backing out at this point? I never even considered you my Deadly Weapon!”

...

Lin Haifeng sighed softly, then pulled another communicator from his space ring and connected to a private line. ”TSK TSK. What an idiot, unable to see the situation clearly. Wouldn’t it be nice to just retire peacefully in the Science Academy?”

After a moment, a young voice came through the communicator.

”Do I need to activate the Black Tortoise?”

”No need. Take the personnel I just assigned to you and kill Feng Guansheng. Oh, and terminate the self-destruct systems of those human clone armies outside. The new bombs you developed are causing too many casualties among our own warriors!”

”Understood.”

In just a few short sentences, Feng Guansheng’s fate was sealed.

...

Inside the Science Academy, Feng Guansheng sat restlessly in his office.

An old saying perfectly described Feng Guansheng at this moment—the older one gets, the more timid one becomes.

Evidently, despite his age, Feng Guansheng hadn’t had his fill of life!

The office’s soundproofing was excellent, like a secluded sanctuary, isolating it completely from the chaos outside.
