Apocalypse: Master of Soul Beasts

Chapter 386: Chapter 20 Deep in the Mist (Call me Qingfoba Wonshang Added Updates)_1

All over the Red Stone Hotel, figures bustled about, everyone preparing for the banquet in two days.

Claus was also busily rushing around, seemingly devoting himself wholeheartedly to this matter.

In fact, hosting a banquet at the Red Stone Hotel was quite advantageous for Claus. At least for those who didn’t understand the true power distribution of Sin City, Claus being able to host a banquet of this scale was enough to prove his influence in Sin City!

Wen Yu, however, didn’t look for Claus again. Instead, he went directly to Kuangliu’s room to discuss the latest developments.

Actually, even if this bizarre dream actively clung to Wen Yu, he wouldn’t necessarily have paid it so much mind. If he couldn’t catch the main culprit, he could just leave. America was so large; could there really be no place for Wen Yu to hide?

However, the speculation that a divine beast possessed the Dream Ability made Wen Yu unbearably curious, and he was reluctant to give up on a divine beast with such a uniquely bizarre ability.

Kuangliu had remained in his room to communicate with Claire, to see if Claire’s side had any information on this matter.

However, Claire also knew nothing. According to Claire, the last time she was ordered to Las Vegas to handle the incident of military deaths, she hadn’t investigated any conclusive results. This was why the American military had decided to abandon Las Vegas, instead assigning a small Special Ops Team to establish a communication network here.

So, at present, all leads were completely cut off.

Returning to his own room, Wen Yu lay sprawled on the bed, staring at the ceiling, lost in thought.

After a long moment, Wen Yu heavily exhaled a breath of murky air.

The waters run deep.

The truth, as if hidden behind a layer of gauze, left Wen Yu unable to get a grasp on it.

And Wen Yu, for the first time, realized his own powerlessness. Although his strength was great, there were simply too many bizarre abilities in this world! The current Wen Yu completely lacked the capital and ability to deal with all unknowns!

He seemed to recall what ’Kuangliu’ had said to him in the Dreamland—Become stronger! Become even stronger!

Still not enough.

Wen Yu’s bewildered eyes gradually firmed with determination.

All misfortune stems from weakness! This sentence had always been regarded as truth by Wen Yu. And the events of the past two days undoubtedly made Wen Yu even more resolute in this thought.

Tear through the mists, capture that mystifying mutant creature! Then, integrate its ability into myself! In that case, Wen Yu would not only address the weak links in his own ability system but could also instantly make those originally weak areas extremely powerful!

This was perhaps the terrifying aspect of the Soul Master profession—a perfect way to grow stronger by turning enemies into allies.

Night fell, another ordinary evening. Unfortunately, in this world, some unusual things were always bound to happen.

In a space covered by shadows, filled everywhere with mysterious grey-black streams of air.

A black cat lay quietly on a large Stone Platform. Bright moonlight gently cascaded from an opening above the cat’s head, causing its glossy black fur to shimmer with a faint silver light.

However, from the black cat’s gently trembling body, it was not difficult to see that the black cat seemed to be enduring immense pain!

Then, the black cat slowly opened its eyes.

Its emerald-green eyes, like glass, were filled with terrifying cracks. The originally beautiful eyes now showed a hint of dullness, and countless shattered images flashed rapidly within them before slowly transforming into Wen Yu’s appearance.

Then, the black cat let out a weak ’MEOW’...

The weakness in its voice was clearly discernible. The next moment, the black cat slowly closed its eyes, as if falling asleep.

A bizarre and hidden Spiritual Fluctuation directly transmitted out, crossing time and space, instantly arriving at the Red Stone Hotel.

Then, it drilled in through the Crown of Wen Yu’s Head...

All of this went completely unnoticed, not just by Wen Yu, but even by Cyclops and Star, who were maintaining a state of alert nearby.

Wen Yu was dreaming again.

This time, the Dreamland was set in the treasure land of the Flashing Bluestar.

Wen Yu transformed into an ordinary warrior of the Flashing Bluestar, born in the late stages of the apocalypse with no educational history. From the moment he became sensible, he was constantly learning killing techniques. Then, after Wen Yu became a reasonably competent warrior, he received the opportunity for a class change—a bound Early Stage Level 1 Demon Fiend.

Wen Yu slashed at the Demon Fiend’s neck.

Black blood sprayed everywhere. Droplets of blood even splashed into Wen Yu’s mouth, causing him to vomit uncontrollably on the spot...

The next second, Wen Yu abruptly woke up.

”Boss, did you have another nightmare?”

Star hadn’t slept at all. Seeing Wen Yu’s abrupt movement, he immediately understood what had happened.

Wen Yu simply nodded.

”Was there anything strange?”

”Nothing at all.”

Star’s tone was particularly serious.

The last time they were caught could be explained by being unprepared. But this time, despite one person and two pets being on high alert, the unknown entity still invaded his Dreamland. This couldn’t be explained away by carelessness anymore.

Wen Yu silently lay back on the bed, his mind in turmoil.

The Dreamland just now wasn’t as real as the second and third segments of the Dreamland from the day before yesterday. Wen Yu himself, even within the Dreamland, could feel that sense of unreality. Moreover, he didn’t hear a cat’s meow at the end; he just woke up naturally.

This awakening was actually more like being naturally startled awake from a nightmare, something many people have experienced. For example, when one is about to jump off a building in a dream, one might suddenly wake up. This is actually a self-preservation mechanism of the human body.

After pondering for a long time, Wen Yu sighed silently, no longer in the mood to continue sleeping.

He checked his watch: three in the morning. Wen Yu silently picked up the wine glass from the table and, under the bright moonlight tinged with a hint of red, slowly savored the red wine in his glass.

Outside the window, moonlight cascaded over the earth, but most of it was still dark.

Hidden beneath this darkness, who knew how many evils and secrets lay.

Wen Yu narrowed his eyes, quietly observing the dark night below. After a long moment, he murmured as if to himself, ”Have you guys noticed? The fog in Las Vegas is a bit thick.”

Star quietly climbed onto Wen Yu’s head and looked down. After a moment, he mumbled, ”It’s alright... just a bit hazy. Doesn’t seem like a big problem.”

Wen Yu nodded silently.

Although the fog tonight was dense, it was still within a normal range.

After glancing at the scenery outside a few more times, Wen Yu slowly climbed back into bed, narrowed his eyes, and became lost in thought.
