Apocalypse: Master of Soul Beasts

Chapter 360: Chapter 149: One punch from me, and you could die (Extra updates for climbing the wall of mahua teng worth ten thousand!)_1

Unfortunately, the young man, or rather, Sequence Number 1, wasn’t in that category!

Sequence Number 1 winked at Peng Jun, his tone returning to the nonchalant manner he had at the beginning.

With a leap, he jumped from Peng Jun’s desk to the floor, striding back and forth.

”It’s not about who sent me. Well, actually, that’s not entirely accurate. It was the Earth’s Will that sent me!”

”Our mother planet told me that you have something that shouldn’t be in your possession, so I’m here to take it back!”

”Something I shouldn’t have? Are you referring to this?”

Hearing Sequence Number 1’s words, Peng Jun actually laughed. He ripped open his collar to reveal a fragment of the Demon Realm’s Core on his chest.

”This thing fell right in front of me when the apocalypse began. If it’s not mine, then whose could it be? Yours?”

Hearing Peng Jun’s words, Sequence Number 1 suddenly stopped pacing. He looked intently into Peng Jun’s eyes and nodded decisively.

”That thing was indeed prepared for me! So, you’re absolutely right about that!”

Peng Jun scoffed.

”You’re certainly interesting!”

Sequence Number 1 nodded in agreement. ”Everyone who knows me says that.”

His sheer audacity cut short Peng Jun’s flood of retorts.

Peng Jun slowly fastened his collar. Looking calmly at Sequence Number 1’s face, he asked the final question.

”So, you’re saying you absolutely must take my life today?”

”Precisely!”

Hearing Sequence Number 1’s response, Peng Jun didn’t waste any words. He clenched his fists, and simultaneously, the giant black eagle on his shoulder abruptly grew larger!

Judging by his aura, Peng Jun’s strength had already reached the level of a Level 5 professionist. Coupled with his status as a demon spawn, his combat ability wasn’t much weaker than Kuangliu’s. Furthermore, with the Demon Worship Sect’s New Holy Beast—the giant black eagle—Peng Jun’s current power was quite considerable!

This was Peng Jun’s greatest trump card—his own strength!

Unfortunately, the only response Peng Jun received was a single sentence from Sequence Number 1: ”Are you really going to fight me? If I throw one punch, your little life will be over!”

Then, a black energy wave struck Sequence Number 1 directly in the face!

「...」

A minute later, the door to Peng Jun’s office suddenly opened, and Sequence Number 1 slowly walked out.

He appeared relaxed and unruffled; even his clothes were not creased.

As he walked, Sequence Number 1 casually shook two black cylindrical objects in his hand.

The clear JINGLING sounds from within them seemed to weave into a pleasant symphony.

Casually closing Peng Jun’s office door, Sequence Number 1 smiled faintly at the two guards stationed outside.

The eyes of the two guards, however, were filled with astonishment and suspicion.

They had been guarding Peng Jun’s office door the entire time and were certain they had never allowed this person to enter!

So...

”Stop! Who are you?”

Sequence Number 1 glanced back at the two guards and replied without hesitation, ”Delivery. Didn’t I tell you earlier?”

”You... you did?”

The two guards exchanged a look.

Seems like... he did...

Then, although the guards still looked at Sequence Number 1 with suspicion, they surprisingly didn’t question him further! It didn’t even occur to them to wonder if couriers were allowed in a restricted military zone. They simply watched as Sequence Number 1 leisurely strolled away, as if taking a walk.

”Oh, right!”

Before he had gone far, Sequence Number 1 abruptly turned back and said.

”You two should probably check on General Peng. The old fellow was clutching his chest; looked like he was having a heart attack.”

With that, Sequence Number 1 continued on his way, muttering to himself as he walked.

”Once people get old, all sorts of ailments appear. Their minds get muddled, their hearts give them trouble... That’s why you should do whatever you want while you’re young, have more thrilling experiences, so you don’t have regrets when you’re old...”

Mumbling these irrelevant thoughts, Sequence Number 1 headed downstairs.

And everyone he passed along the way seemed neither to see nor hear him, allowing Sequence Number 1 to move freely through the restricted military zone until he gradually vanished from sight!

「...」

After hearing Sequence Number 1’s words, the two guards exchanged a glance.

”Did anyone come by just now?”

The other guard shook his head firmly.

”Then how come I thought I heard someone say General Peng was having a heart attack?”

The other guard pondered seriously for a long moment before saying hesitantly.

”I also vaguely recall hearing something like that. It’s strange, though; no one came by.”

Should we go in and check?

These two had been with Peng Jun ever since he had personal guards and were his most trusted confidants. Naturally, they were aware of Peng Jun’s physical condition.

Peng Jun did indeed have a heart condition, but after becoming a professionist, it had never acted up again!

But who could say for sure if becoming a professionist could truly cure something like heart disease?

The two of them couldn’t make up their minds.

After deliberating for a while, they finally decided to knock on the door of Peng Jun’s office.

Unfortunately, there was no sound from within.

Remembering the words they had seemingly heard ”out of thin air,” they exchanged a look, then quickly pulled open Peng Jun’s office door and peered inside.

Inside, Peng Jun lay quietly on his office desk. His hands were resting gently on his chest, his face pale, yet he looked exceptionally peaceful.

The giant black eagle, now in its Mini Form, rested quietly beside Peng Jun, completely still. The black crystal on its head was long gone, leaving only a bloodless, round hole that looked ghastly and terrifying.

Peng Jun was dead, killed at the hands of Sequence Number 1.

In just a single minute, Sequence Number 1 had eliminated Peng Jun and the Giant Eagle demon spawn, taken the fragments of the Demon Realm’s Core from both of them, and even casually arranged them in a pose!

「...」

”Hey, Peng Jun is dead.”

With that one short sentence, Sequence Number 1 not only announced his return to Lin Haifeng but also informed him of what he had just accomplished.

Silence fell on the other end of the communicator before Lin Haifeng’s voice finally came through.

”If the job’s done, then come back.”

”By the way, before Peng Jun died, he activated all his contingency plans. Is everything alright on your end?”

Lin Haifeng went silent again, then he seemed to aim the communicator’s microphone towards the window.

The somewhat muffled sound of explosions could be heard through the communicator.

”They’ve been active for a few minutes. I don’t know if there’s a problem yet, but I think you’d better get back here and protect me. Otherwise, the partner you went to so much trouble to find might just get himself killed!”

”Oh, oh, oh, alright then! You know I despise probabilities the most. Wait for me, 10 minutes!”

After saying this, Sequence Number 1 immediately hung up. Then, his entire body seemed to transform into a streak of light, shooting off towards the Yanjing Assembly Site!
